The Mansion
ENIGMA MANSION, Cape Town’s grandest palatial residence occupies more than 7 000 m2 of the most prestigious
residential property on the Atlantic seaboard. It is superbly located within a triangle of small streets in the heart of The
Glen. Extensively featured in international commercial, film and photo shoots, this landmark residence and property
stands peacefully and gracefully in The Glen between Camps Bay and Clifton’s beaches. Secluded and sheltered from
the sometimes feisty Cape winds, it is conveniently just 50 m away from the Table Mountain Park and adjoins a nature
reserve on two other boundaries. Boasting its own little stream, 6000 m2 of private park and gardens, waterways and
ponds, its unobstructed views of Cape Town’s famous landmarks, Lion’s Head, Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles
and the Atlantic Ocean are enviable. Bordering the most tranquil residential area of the Fair Cape, ENIGMA MANSION
enjoys complete peace and quiet while only three minutes away from the buzzing cafes and restaurants of Camps
Bay and Clifton beaches. The largest properties on this most expensive and extremely safe area of Cape Town usually
hinge on around 1000 m2. ENIGMA MANSION, however, majestically dwarfs these by comparison. Standing on four
different plots purchased and artfully combined to create a magnificently spacious residence, ENIGMA MANSION
remains uniquely different. With its extensive gardens and private guesthouse, the main residence stretches over 1 586
m2. The guest house/atelier at the lower west end of the property itself comprises 264 m2 of living space and has its
own separate street entrance. The manicured gardens and parks surrounding the residence create a private world of its
own. Built in the style of the grand residence in a bygone era, a mansion like this, to be sure, exists only in such places
as the South of France and Long Island.
The Rooms and Suites at the Residence

The ground floor of the residence is the perfect venue for glamorous parties, intimate get-togethers and cosy family
life. Residents and guests may enjoy the airiness and freedom of elegant high ceilinged rooms and living areas with
double doors leading on to numerous terraces with breath taking views. 670 m2 alone of this luxurious residence is
set aside as living areas, consisting of a plush library, fully-equipped media room, eclectic live-in kitchen, elegant dining
room, adjoining outdoor terraces, opulent reception and living rooms as well as lobbies, a powder room, a cloak room
and guest WC. Double doors leading off to the natural tropical ponds and other water ways create a seamless flow
between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The first floor of the residence is entirely dedicated to the west facing grand master suite which can only be described
as ‘out of this world’. A dream suite so romantic and pleasing to the senses, it is simply breathtaking, not to mention
its many conveniences and aesthetic qualities. This suite élégant consists of an intimate living room, master bedroom
with walk-in closets and two ensuite bathrooms themselves consisting of two separate shower rooms. Three sets of
double door lead on to roomy terraces overlooking the ocean, park and gardens and the Versace swimming pool.
There are three additional spacious and opulent bedroom suites in the main residence, each with its own enclosed,
large and luxurious bathroom. Needless to say, all three bedroom suites lead to their own private terraces with equally
beautiful views. All sleeping rooms have state-of-the-art soundless and concealed air conditioning and underfloor
heating. Residents may comfortably cope with the Cape summers and winters by easily accessing these independently
controlled room temperature systems via IPADS recessed into the wall of each room. The latest premier brand 3D
televisions are also recessed into the wall or released electronically from the ceilings for comfortable viewing.
The 627 m2 basement of the main residence is pure entertainment pleasure for body and mind. It houses a state-of-the
art erotic 100 m2 Parisian style 3D cinema, for those more seductive moments. The cinemas movie server has access
to ‘thousands of blockbusters’. A gym with Techno gym equipment, a dance room with a 21:9 flat screen, a sauna,
change room, a relaxation room with incredible moving artefacts, shower and WC and a most sensual massage room
/ spa offer a wide variety of sport and entertainment choices for residents.
The Studio and Guesthouse
The two-storey guesthouse is located on the west boundary of the premises and may be rented at the
same time as main residence of the ENIGMA MANSION. With décor as luxurious as that found in the
main residence, the guest house is designed after an atelier/studio. Two master suites, 2 bathrooms,
walk-in closets, a huge and prolific winter garden with atelier, cosy living room and kitchen as well as
a two-car garage and its own street access are some of the features that make for comfortable and
stylish living.

For sure the most unique and palatial pool in Cape Town, likely the most glamorous and sexy pool in
the Western Hemisphere.
Ultimate Luxury
The ENIGMA MANSION surpasses even the finest residences around the world. Every door handle,
plate and hinge is a gilded piece of handmade art from Argentina’s master craftsmen of one of the
last factories worldwide able to replicate designs from the time of Louis XIV. Exquisite hand printed
wall papers are from the Rolls Royce of wall coverings, ZUBER of Paris and rich fabrics from Carlucci
and Designers Guild. The expert eye will appreciate the luxury of these wall paper made by the only
company in the world still using hand printing techniques which makes for the highly special and
super expensive walls. Hand-made and antique chandeliers and wall lamps are each one of a kind.
Shades for floor, table and wall lamps as well as the chandelier are hand made to order by an artist
in California and are themselves true works of art as they create settings and moods of magic with
light around the residence. Easily operated IPADs allow for easy operation of the lighting system. An
ancient brick wall covering technique from Morocco, similar to Venetian stucco, so work intensive it
is rarely used anywhere in the world today, is to be found throughout the mansion to give the closest
feeling of hundred year old ancient marble walls while just being completed in 2012. Sublime Persian
Tabriz carpets acquired from Essie in London, considered the world’s leading carpet expert, adorn
the floors. Every last detail in ENIGMA MANSION, down to the smallest items such as the 24-piece
Versace China sets and defined silverware has been selected with the most discerning eye regardless
of the cost.
The Art at the Enigma Residence
Latest Technology
Original works of art are displayed throughout the residence. A most rare and beautiful
piece is the graceful classic white Carrara marble sculpture, ‘The Greek Slave’ by Scipione
Tadolini (Rome, 1860), an enigmatic life-size figure of a female slave.
ENIGMA MANSION is fitted with the latest available technology, software and customized
programming for effortless use throughout the property. The 100% reliable and superfast
Wifi (CISCO) network is fully available in every room and corner. Two years of planning,
testing and programming and 15 million Rands have gone into this perfected IT system.
IPADs recessed into the walls of major rooms, released by the push of a button serve as the
key control for convenient IT use at any point in the room. The ingenious IPAD system all
for the following functions: control of all lights in a room, a floor or the entire house via
5 different mood settings, control of animation in a room, selection and control of music
from 4 different servers and hundreds of thousands of titles, artists and playlists via the
high end speakers recessed into the ceilings of all rooms and public areas, operating of
the television, Blu-Ray, Movie Server and IPODS in a room, opening and closing of cinema
screen curtains or other specific TV functions such as motorised lifting of the screen into the
ceiling, activating and controlling soundless state-of-the-art air conditioning or underfloor
heating in a room, activating of gas fire places and shut down of security shutters to close
off grand master bedroom suite from any outside access to form a self-contained panic
room as well as access to the security, alarm system and CCTV cameras.

has never been a single or the smallest security incident at the mansion. Leaving nothing to chance
where the issue of security is concerned, the grand master suite also serves as a panic room and can
