The disheartening loss of Doug Denny and Eric
Moore because of injuries suffered against Midland . . .
the slightly off-key singing of Dan Hole on the field
while playing . . . the tremendous come-from-behind
victory over Alma . . . the trampling of Clare, 55—0
. . . the fine spirit displayed all year . .. the final 4—1—1
record . . . All these things combined to make a season
and a team of which the whole school can be proud.

A year of madcap impressions . . . the awesome power of Henry Pety as he rolls around
end behind a wave of blockers .. . the dismal
fans after the Manistee game . . . the piano
string nervousness of the coaches as they pace
up and down the sidelines . . . John Frisch
scampering about looking like a hare amongst
a crowd of bears . . . the monster battle to
throw the coaches in the showers . . . the agony
of returning circulation to frozen feet . . . the
magnificent Oiler defense throwing back Flushing on the one yard line . . . all in all, a pretty
wild season with a 6—2 tally.
Oiler back Tom Kirkconnell plunges for
against Alma.
Kirkconnell grimaces as two Manistee players manage
to bring him down after a long gain.
Coaches Figg, Drath, and Kerr map football strategy with co-captains Geoff Nelson and Henry Pety.
Henry Pety eyes straining Alma defenders as he
sweeps to a touchdown.
Dick Williams and some of his teammates exchange pleasant insults about the size of each
other's feet as they prepare for practice.
