A Message from the President:
W
ell, another month and another Dolphin
Rally has been held! This one was in a new
place, Desert Drums RV Resort in Camp Verde, Arizona. Trail Bosses, Jim & Kay Thomas found us somewhere new to try. Check out the Rally Report to see
what you missed by not going! Carole & I had to miss
this one as we were winging our way to visit friends in
Memphis, Tennessee.
A Nominating Committee has been formed to recruit
nominees for the upcoming elections. Brian Forstmaier
is chairing that committee and he is being ably assisted
by Steve & Suzanne Justice, Bill Hawkins and Sandy
Smith.
Brian called me recently to give me an update on the
progress of his committee. Brian reports that they have
at least one nominee for each position. It is good to
know that there are those who do answer the call!
Brian will make his report on the slate of officers and a
ballot will appear in the Splash for the months of August, September and October. The results will be made
known by the end of the year, and the installation of the
new officers will occur at the January Rally in Bakersfield. More information will be forthcoming.
A little information about the terms of office, if you
missed them last issue;
Each position is for a one (!) year term, with a maximum of two (2) terms. The positions of President, Vice
President and Secretary are open. The current Treasurer, Howard White, may accept the nomination to run
for the second term, but that does not mean you cannot
run for the position, if you wish. The FMCA director
offices are for unlimited, one-year terms and both T.J.
and Dave may run again.
June 2010
If you enjoy the club activities, and appreciate what all the
officers do to help operate the club, take a turn! Be part of
the action! Accept a nomination, if asked. Don‟t be afraid.
If I can be President, anyone can!
The committee collecting the ballots on the By-Law
Amendment issue reports that ballots are starting to arrive.
You have until the end of July to cast your vote. Take your
time, give this issue some thought and then vote. Vote yes,
or vote no, but VOTE ! Make your voice heard about
what you want to happen in YOUR club!
Don‟t forget, there are still a couple of Rallies coming!
Linda & Ron Sheeder are hosting a Tahoe Valley Rally,
June 24 thru 26 and CJ Huston and Joanne Harnit are hosting a Rally in Boise, Idaho August 5 thru 9. Northern California offers much to see and do, so try to join the Linda &
Ron in Tahoe. If you are going to the FMCA Convention in
Redmond, Oregon, how about a layover in Boise? Great
place to rest before driving on to Redmond!
The always fun rally at Chula Vista RV Resort will be a
Board and General Membership Meeting. Your Vice President, Bob Frauenzimmer, will be chairing these meetings as
your humble President, ME, will be on an extended trip
from October 8 through the 31st. Carole and I are sad to be
missing this Rally because it is such a fun rally. I also
apologize for not being in attendance, but this trip was
planned long before we had to change the plans and have
our second required General Membership meeting of the
year then. Since we did not have a Trail Boss to head up the
normal Holiday Rally in December, we had to ask the Trail
Bosses for the Chula Vista Rally to squeeze us in.
Again, I am sorry I will not be with you, my friends, but
50th High School Reunions and a tour of the Northeast
beckons!
Hope to see you at the next (January
2011) Dolphin Club Rally!

Dolphin RV Club
Wine Weekend—Paso Robles
March 25-27, 2010
Forty seven rigs arrived at the Wine Country R.V. Resort and were greeted by terrific weather, crisp bright mornings
and warm pleasant afternoons.
Thursday night we welcomed each other with terrific pot luck style appetizer, along with margaritas, wine and a special
presentation by Bill and Zamie Studt of JELLY BELLY. All the attendees took chances at spinning the wheel for a
chance to taste special Jelly Belly flavors…you guess which…”licorice or skunk spray,” “peach or barf,” “chocolate
pudding or canned dog food,” “lime or Boogers,” just to name a few. A REALLY FUN TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!!
Early Friday morning some members went off to play golf, while in the afternoon 51 intrepid campers attended a wine
seminar presented by Jim Stanley, retired Kendall-Jackson wine Vice-President and was supported by Maryann, Bob,
and Marcy. Five different wines were tasted and attendees had a chance to sip, swirl and enjoy. Following the tasting a
potluck dinner with the usual gourmet treats, with poker and games following the meal. A video was played of the
prior nights Jelly Belly tasting which was played on the big screen during the potluck, made by both Maryann and Bob.

Saturday‟s main events were the General Meeting in the morning, hosted by our club‟s officers, a complimentary wine
tasting, hosted by six local wineries outside the club house in the afternoon, and a catered Chicken and Tri-tip dinner
inside the club that evening. After a full day for drinking and eating, some members danced to the sounds of the 50‟s
and 60‟s music. Music provided from the collection of Bob and Marcy.

current members who purchase other brand coaches to remain in the club. Change #2 will allow current members and past
members who purchase other brand coaches to remain in the club or to rejoin the club as full members.

Remember, only ONE (1) Vote per coach! Deadline for submission is July 31, 2010.
Dear FMCA Members,
I am writing to tell you about new and improved member benefits that are coming your way. The
Group Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage that FMCA provides to all members has a new
provider, Chartis Insurance, effective May 1, 2010. This coverage has been enhanced to include an
additional paralysis benefit.
You can purchase additional accident coverage through the NEW ―FMCA Years‖ Plan that will
replace the ―Loyal-Years‖ Plan some of you have purchased in past years. The Loyal-Years Plan offered
AD&D insurance as well as accident hospital benefits, accident outpatient benefits and accident
recuperation benefits; the amount of coverage was determined by the number of years you had been a
member of FMCA. That program was cancelled by FMCA effective April 1, 2010, and you should receive
notice from Hartford of non-renewal when your policy term expires. Our ―FMCA Years‖ Plan will again
reward you with a similar program but with better benefits. Look for information on this program in the near
future.
Another bit of good news is that the Emergency Medical Evacuation benefit (currently provided by
MEDEX, which will expire on Jan. 1, 2011) is being replaced with a new and improved program that is fully
funded by FMCA and can provide up to a $109 value to you. Information about this new plan also will be
forthcoming.
Finally, some of our members recently have received a confusing and inaccurate e-mail from a third
party, who no longer represents FMCA, stating that the AD&D and emergency medical evacuation (MEDEX)
coverage are being terminated, and that members should contact this individual. Please disregard this
information. All coverages for FMCA members are being continued with no lapse in coverage.

A Message from Escapees
Flying J Dump Stations - Change in Policy
05/06/2010
We have heard from some traveling Escapees that a few Flying J truck stops with RV dump stations are
beginning to charge a use fee. We contacted Flying J and received the following statement from their
customer loyalty department:
To continue providing waste dump station services at Flying J, we are instituting a $10 fee to customers using this service. This has become necessary to cover the increasing costs of offering this
amenity. These additional fees include:
• Escalating expenses associated with normal usage and the misuse and abuse of waste dump
stations
• Rising costs from local sewer treatment service providers
• Increasing expenditures linked to stringent corporate responsibilities
For our best customers, those that are members of Flying J’s Frequent Fueler and RV Real Value
clubs, a $5.00 dump station coupon will be added to their card based on fuel purchases. The club
member must present their card to cashier at point of purchase to receive the discount.
We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to offer the best services and facilities
in the industry.
Flying J also stated that the program is being implemented at all Flying J locations in the next week. Some
will be monitored by a device that will allow you to pay at the dump, others will require the customer to come
inside to pay for the service. Be aware that you will soon be required to pay a fee to use the RV dump at
Flying J.

A report on our Parliamentarian, Joe Smith
Darryl,
Thought I would give you an update on Joe's
marvelous recovery.
After having quadruple
bypass surgery last Tuesday, he is home and
doing wonderfully well. He was able to pass all
the required breathing, walking and coughing tests
required to head home; so he came home Saturday. He does all his exercises as required and
feels very good.
His cardiac surgeon approved his appointment to
see his retina specialist today. He has eye
injections for his macular every six weeks. However, his retina specialist chose not to do the
injections today and postponed them for two
weeks. Therefore, we have an appt with the
cardiac surgeon June 7 and retina specialist June
8. If all is approved, we will leave the desert and
travel to the NW for a few weeks.
Please give all our Dolphin Club friends our best
and look forward to seeing them again when Joe is
up and running.
Live long enough to be a real concern to your kids!
I will have Joe give you a call when he is up an
running.
Notice To Trail Bosses
Love,
Jo & Joe
Note
I am sure Joe would love to get cards and
emails from all.
I will send further info as I receive from Jo.

Compliments of The Dolphins!
I have also noted instances of the bolts that secure the
slideout motor gearbox to the bracket have a tendency to
loosen as well as the bolts that hold the gearbox
together. Loose bolts can cause your slideout to creep
open slightly as you drive. Loose gearbox bolts also
allow the grease to leak out.
Dolphin Club Flags for display on
your motorhome are available from
Dave Barr or Syd Byford.
Page 11
When dry camping or when operating a slideout with
battery charger “OFF” be sure battery voltage is 12.3 v or
more, whenever you operate one of your slideouts. By
OHM‟s law when voltage goes down amperage draw
goes up. If the amp draw from slideout motor exceeds
the fuse capacity, it will blow. Depending on the number
of slideouts you have, each one will have a small circuit
board with a couple of relays and a fuse. This is the fuse
that blows. These small circuit boards are usually
mounted just below the D.C. power panel. The fuses are
usually 25 to 40 AMP tube type and are the slow blow
variety. I have found they are not always available at
auto parts houses. I suggest you carry a couple of spares.
