Calling all SUPERHEROES!
Are you ready for Junior Achievement’s
2016 Bowling Classic Heroes Bowl?
What is Junior Achievement?
How it works
Junior Achievement is a nonprofit
organization whose core purpose
is to inspire and prepare young
people to succeed in a global
economy. We work in partnership
with our local schools and
businesses to improve student
knowledge in the areas of financial
literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.
Junior Achievement (JA) volunteers make a positive impact on
students in our communities. Through age appropriate content,
students are engaged with hands-on experiences to help them
understand the economics of life. JA Volunteers serve as role models
as they lead activities and share their real-life experiences with the
class.
Placement
JA offers JA volunteers the opportunity to choose a school and
classroom. The JA volunteer and teacher coordinate the teaching
schedule.
What is JA’s Bowling Classic?
Comprehensive Training
JA volunteers will be trained in delivering the JA lessons, working
with the classroom teacher and managing student participation.
The JA Bowling Classic is Junior Achievement’s largest annual
fundraiser. The event generates funds necessary to bring JA
programs to more than 115,000 students across Washington.
This year over 5,000 community volunteers will donate their time
to teach Junior Achievement programs to students in grades
K-12. The results...students are exposed to DYNAMIC role
models who reinforce the importance of education while laying
the foundation for success. The more funds raised the more
programs we can provide, and the more students we can reach!
Minimal Time Commitment
The time commitment is minimal compared to the significant
impact a volunteer will make.
Elementary School: Five 30-45 minute sessions Middle & High
School: A number of lessons ranging from 45 minutes to 1 hour
What are the benefits to my company?
JA staff support - JA staff is available to help every step of the way!
The JA Bowling Classic Heroes Bowl is a lot of fun and a great
way for your company to gather for a TEAM BUILDING
opportunity while supporting Junior Achievement. Company
leaders, employees and their families have an opportunity to
participate in a fun day, bowl, win prizes and support the
education of our FUTURE WORKFORCE. Last year the
Bowling Classic raised nearly $550,000 statewide!

Team Captain Checklist
Fundraising Ideas
RECRUIT: Identify and invite 5 bowlers to join you in making a team of 6!
Lunch With CEO/President: Any employee reaching a goal of $___
will be treated to a lunch with the CEO or President. What a great
opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of the bowlers and their
fundraising success.
You've Been Greened: Anonymously "decorate" an unsuspecting
senior management office from top to bottom with Junior
Achievement green then leave a "ransom" note that the décor can
be removed and relocated into another office of their choice for a
fee. (Say, $25).
Car Wash: Have your senior staff wash the cars of all employees
who raise more than $250 for JA's Bowling Classic. Or recruit some
hard-working volunteers to wash cars in a parking lot for a fee.
Potato Bake or Breakfast in a BAG: An easy fundraiser that will
bring in the troops! Bake the potatoes and provide the
toppings: sour cream, butter, onions, spices, chili, bacon bits,
chives, etc.
Who can resist home-baked goods? You can even
host a silent auction bake sale that closes five
minutes before lunch time. Hungry shoppers...what
motivation to drive up the bids!
Chili or Soup Contest: Cold weather is the perfect time to hold a
chili or soup-cooking contest. Those who wish to sample the soup/
chili pay a fee.
