Hitachi To Help Overseas Firms
Conserve Energy
2005/06/18, 03:07, Nikkei English News,
279 words
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Hitachi Ltd. (6501) is
expanding its energy service company
(ESCO), which helps firms cut electricity
use at factories, to businesses abroad.
In ESCO operations, Hitachi examines a
production site, sets up energy-saving
equipment and then receives a service
fee based on the resulting cost
reductions.
Hitachi started the service at the
Philippines hard-disk drive plant of its
U.S. subsidiary. It plans to install a boiler
that recovers heat from the factory's
diesel engine generator and powers a
freezer that cools electronic parts.
