What’s on the horizon for Tabernacle

As the remains of stale Christmas cookies and unopened fruitcakes get thrown away, New Year’s
resolutions begin to break and kids
anxiously count the days until
spring break begins, we take a look
at what residents can expect in
2015.
• The new year should bring
new construction around Tabernacle, as the township committee approved a bond ordinance appropriating $850,000 for capital improvements throughout the township.
Though the numbers were not finalized, township administrator
Doug Cramer estimated that
$450,000 from the bond ordinance
as well as $375,000 from the town-
ship’s 2013 road program would be
needed for the repaving and reconstruction of Sooy Place Road. The
construction will stretch from the
Southampton and Woodland Township borders
The remaining $400,000 from the
bond ordinance would be distributed for “various improvements to
municipal buildings and grounds.”
First on that list is the former
emergency services building on
Hawkin Road that acts as the township’s community building but still
very much looks like an emergency
services building.

need of a new roof as well as window replacements, Cramer said.

early in the year to create an implementation plan with strong
input from computer and network technicians.
Like schools across the country, the administration and staff
at Seneca High School have been
preparing as well. The test differs
from the previous HSPA exam in
that it is taken digitally.
“We have a great administration team that has done a great
job of preparing for PARCC,”
Principal Jeff Spector said. “We
feel comfortable that we are prepared for the technological aspects of administering the test.
The challenge for our teachers is
in managing and maintaining the
instructional time devoted to
PARCC and the normal curriculum. It will be an adjustment.”
The LRHSD designed and implemented a full-scale infrastructure test that tested technology
while the students were able to
navigate a tutorial and sample online questions in language arts

TAA Softball gears up
for winter clinics
TAA Softball is once again
gearing up for its winter softball
clinics. During the general skills,
clinic players will work on the
fundamental skills of throwing,
catching, grounders, fly balls and
hitting.
The general skills clinic will be
held on the following Saturdays:
Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31, Feb. 7 and 28.
On Jan. 10 only, kindergartenfifth grades are 9-10 a.m. and
sixth-ninth grades are 10-11 a.m.
The remaining dates will be 9 to
10:15 a.m. for kindergarten-fifth
and 11:30-12:45 for sixth-ninth
grades. The clinics will take place
in the gym at Olson Middle
School.
Pitcher and catcher clinics will
be held from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on
Saturday: Jan. 17, 24 and 31, Feb. 7
and 28.
General skills registration fee
is $50 for the six sessions. The
pitcher and catcher clinic registration fee is $75 for the five sessions.

Residents of Burlington County can recycle non-working strands of Christmas
tree and outdoor holiday lights at Burlington County’s Resource Recovery Complex,
BCC hosts ‘Best of 2014
Showcase’ art exhibit
Burlington County College credit and
non-credit students will show off their best
pieces of art at the new “Best of 2014 Show-
case.”
The exhibit highlights the exemplary
talent and creativity of 34 student artists,
29 credit and five non-credit. Eighty-nine
pieces of artwork, including photography,
drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics,
mixed-media, jewelry and graphic design,
will be available for public viewing at the
Student Art Gallery, located in historic
downtown Mt. Holly at 1 High St., through
Saturday, Feb. 14.
The exhibit will be on display during
normal gallery hours: Wednesday and
Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, 3:30 p.m.
to 7 p.m. and the second Saturday of every
month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The “Best of
2014 Showcase” was curated by BCC Campus Curator Jessica Ward and juried by RJ
