Dedar - The Prime
Dedar: a family passion
Dedar is an acronym formed from Design D’Arredamento.
Founded in 1976 by Nicola Fabrizio, a manager of industrially produced Italian design furniture, together
with his wife Elda who has always been passionately fond of fabrics and carpets, Dedar continues to be a
family passion even today: Nicola and Elda, the founders, Caterina e Raffaele, the second generation with
their vision for the future.
Distribution
Just 12 people 15 years ago, an International team of 100 people today.
A team in constant expansion.
Dedar operates directly in Italy, France, UK, Germany, Russia, UAE and, across a select network of
distributors, retailers and agents, it serves 70 other countries.
500.000 metres of stocked fabric enable 98% of orders to be immediately available for delivery.
The partnership with Hermès
Dedar is a partner of Hermès in the production and distribution of its homefabric and wallpaper collections.
This cooperation fuses the experience and know-how of Dedar with the richness of the Hermès creative
universe, on a foundation of values cherished by both : the constant quest for excellence and a strong family
spirit. The collections designed under Hermès artistic direction are available at all Dedar shwrooms and a
through a selected distribution network.
The Showrooms
A space open to the general public conceived as a textile library in which to browse, handle and freely
coordinate the fabrics, wallpapers and trimmings of the Dedar and Hermès collection. Armchairs,

articles and 3.000 colourways.
The Collection
Creativity and research are two aspects of a unique process, focused on achieving the technical and
aesthetic excellence which have always been the hallmark of the Dedar collection. Technical research,
harmoniously balanced between tradition and innovation, converts into pleasing visual and tactile
sensations.
The Fabric Collection
Yarns are subject to careful evaluation: weight,
lustre,
torsion,
gauge
and
colour
performance.
The finalization of all aspects of production
represents a delicate balance between the desired
aesthetic
result
and
technical-functional
characteristics.
Time and attention are dedicated to the control
procedures, storage, packaging and shipment, to
ensure that the fabric reaches its final destination
in perfect condition.
Laboratory and packaging tests are a
prerequisite condition to offering professionals,
architects, interior designers, craftsmen and endusers vital information on which to base their
decisions regarding application, making up and
after care.

Special cooperations
Over the past few years, Dedar has met
several international designers and stylists.
These creative collaborations have given birth
to some truly unique creations which express
both the spirit of the designer and that of the
creative universe of Dedar, on which they
were inspired.
Bruno Frisoni, art director at Roger Vivier,
the New York designer Stephen Burks,
architects Michele Bönan and Tristan Auer,
Dimore Studio of Emiliano Salci and Britt
Moran are the first ones to have charted a
course that goes ahead year by year with the
search,
the
discovery
and
the
experimentation of new intuitions.
Special cooperations / Stephen Burks
DEDAR ROPING: a textile-based artistic object, originated from the encounter between Dedar and
the New York designer Stephen Burks.
The ropes, cut into a number of lengths and bound into bushels by belts composed of hand selected
Dedar trimmings, have become multifunctional poufs (a seating piece, a side table, an ottoman) with a
striking decorative intensity.
Special cooperations / Bruno Frisoni
Inspired by the Dedar outdoor trimmings, the French stylist Bruno Frisoni (Art Director at Roger
Vivier) realized a limited edition of stools, cushions … and coordinated shoes .
