Club News
From the President
As we cruise into the month of July here at the Club, I can’t help but be
amazed at how active the Club becomes during the summer months
compared to when I first visited back in April. I am also continually
impressed with how warm and friendly all the Members not only to each
other but also to the staff.
From the camaraderie on the golf course and tennis courts to the family fun exhibited
around the pool, it makes me realize that Hunting Hills is truly a special place. This Club
was founded over 40 years ago by Gordon Willis Sr., who envisioned a community for
great golf, tennis, swimming, food and social gatherings. Through the years the Club has
enjoyed tremendous success in carrying out Mr. Willis’ vision and it is my goal to make
Hunting Hills Country Club the very best it can be for all of our Members. My staff and I
know we have work to do every day but I believe we are up to the challenge.
I would like to take a moment to recognize Ron Parker, our golf course superintendent,
Mike Janney, his assistant, and their staff for all the hard work and long hours they put
in during the hot summer months. While you’re playing golf think of these gentlemen
and take a moment to remind everyone to please repair all ball marks, rake the bunkers
and fill their divots with sand. Taking the time to do a little “course maintenance” will
enhance the condition of the course for everyone and leave Ron, Mike, and his staff extra
opportunities to make the course even more enjoyable.
I also would like to thank Duke Edsall and his staff for the terrific work they do in
managing the pool throughout the summer. Whether hosting swim meets, having pool
parties, or just managing an ordinary day at the pool, these guys do a great job. Speaking
of pool meets, don’t forget that the pool closes at 4PM on days when we are hosting
meets (July 5, 11, and 18) but everyone is encouraged to come on out and root for your
home squad Hound Dogs.
I hope everyone continues to enjoy your summer and I hope to see you at the Club very
soon!
Sincerely,
Mickey Martin
