Visit Arvada to enjoy a warm spring weekend with your family. It’s the
perfect place to find kid-friendly fun, explore historic sites and relax in
a great restaurant. With the second annual Sustain Arvada Festival,
we’re greener than ever. And it’s a big month for you-know-who:
come celebrate Mother’s Day in Arvada!
Olde Town Fountain
Open May 1: Olde Town Water Fountain
The weather is getting warmer by the day, so make a splash in the
Olde Town Water Fountain. The fountain springs to life in two-hour
increments daily through September and in the evening it’s lit up with
color. Bring the kids and enjoy the water in the morning, afternoon or
evening.
When: Opens May 1, 2014

Sustain Arvada Festival
May 3: Sustain Arvada Festival
It’s easy to go green at the Sustain Arvada Festival! You’ll find live
music, delicious food and activities for everyone in the family. Get tips
for recycling and reusing in Arvada with other members of the
community. Be sure to carpool or ride a bike; a bicycle valet area is
provided.

Sentimental Sounds Swing Band
May 10: Sentimental Sounds Swing Band at The D Note
Revisit the Jazz Age with the help of the Sentimental Sounds Swing
Band at The D Note in Arvada. This seventeen-man group captures
the melodies of musicians such as Benny Goodman and Duke
Ellington. Admission is free and music aficionados of all ages will be
dancing long after the music stops.
When: May 10, 2014, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Jam Out Hunger
May 16: Battle of the Bands at Arvada Center Amphitheater
Rock out with local bands and battle hunger in the Arvada community
at the Jam Out Hunger Battle of the Bands in the outdoor Arvada
Center amphitheater. Donate two cans of non-perishable food items
and you’ll get a vote to support your favorite group. Proceeds go to
the Arvada Community Food Bank and the Arvada Center foundation.
So bring the groceries and cast your votes for great music and ending
hunger!

Arvada Historical Society Yard Sale
May 16 - 17: Historical Society Yard Sale
There’s no telling what you’ll find at the Arvada Historical Society
Yard Sale. The annual event at the Flour Mill features collectibles,
vintage items, jewelry, household items, sports equipment, furniture
and old decorations. Come and browse for your own lucky finds!

Long Lake Float Fly
May 24: Long Lake Float Fly
The sky and water meet at the Long Lake Float Fly, where model
planes soar and dip over the waters of Vern Lake. Organized by
Arvada Associated Modelers, the Float Fly is free for all spectators,
with a fee for pilots who wish to join the fun.

Lyle, Lyle the Crocodile
12 performances in May: Lyle the Crocodile at Arvada Center
Don’t miss the May performances of Lyle the Crocodile! This
charming musical adaption of the children’s book series “Lyle, Lyle
Crocodile” will delight kids of all ages as they find out what happens
when a family finds a singing and dancing crocodile in their bathtub.
When: 12 performances through May 23, 2014
