Trail Running Competition
Although the competition is open to all, we take it very seriously and, regardless of your fitness
level, each participant will be considered as an experienced athlete. Timekeeping for all races
will be ensured by Sportstats.
IMPORTANT
A minimum set of equipment is required in order to be allowed to participate in this event. It is
to be noted that such equipment consists of the bare minimum based on the capacities of each
runner. Furthermore, the UTHC is a race to be completed in semi-autonomy. Semi-autonomy is
defined as being autonomous between two refreshment stations. It involves a satisfactory level
of food, clothing and security so as to ensure that runners can adapt to any problem that may
arise or that can be foreseen (bad weather, physical problems, injuries, etc.).
All activities and events are at the ski resort mont Grand-Fonds, La Malbaie
Friday 6 sept.

No runner can go on his own to start the race.

Activities Surrounding the Competition
The Harricana Ultra-Trail event features various activities that take place during the
competition.
THE RUNNING CLINIC’s PIRATE RACE, Saturday at 1p.m.
The Pirate Race is organized by The Running Clinic exclusively for kids aged 12 and below. The
race takes place on a 1-km loop and times will be recorded. Parents may participate in the race
if they wish to encourage their children to rise to the challenge. Although there will be no medal
awarded, winners will be invited on the podium. You can register your children to the race on
the day of the event.
Yoga Sessions, Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Marylou Ménard will share her passion for hatha yoga. You are required to bring your yoga
mat along with a bottle of water. Reserve your spot at the registration tables or on the website.
The Safari Condo Camping Zone
Ski Mont Grand-Fonds and the city of La Malbaie will allow athletes to camp on the parking lot
of the ski center. Needless to say, it is basic and no services will be provided. Chemical toilets
will be at your disposal along with four outdoor showers (experimental) with hot water. The
camping zone will be open as of Friday at 2 p.m. and the chalet of the ski center will be open
from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Access is free for participating athletes. However, visitors with RVs or trailers will have to
disburse a $20 fee for access to the camping zone. DON’T FORGET! Athletes and visitors are
required to reserve their camp site in advance as space is limited; first come, first served! The
registration form to that end is available online at http://harricana.info/camping-reservation/.
Dicom Express Conferences, Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Dicom Express will also feature conferences by Dean Bergeron and Sébastien Roulier entitled
respectively Osez oser! (Dare to dare!) and L’art de courir (The art of running).

Photography Workshop – Mathieu Dupuis, Friday at 7 p.m.
Authenticity, motion and vitality. Photography is all about ambience. Learn how to give life to
your photographs by adding a touch of authenticity when you are outdoors, somewhere on a
trip or enjoying the scenery of a landscape. This workshop will help you understand techniques
that are not found in any mainstream photography manual.

Come and party with us at the ski chalet, free of charge, a courtesy of the Mont Grand-Fonds ski
center. Trust us, you won’t get much sleep!

Difficulty level: Easy
Trail conditions: This leg is split in two and is a wide and easy trail. The first 6 km are on a mountain bike and quad trail while

49th km to 56th km – Montagne noire leg
Difficulty level: Hard and easy
Trail conditions: Single track up the mountain (3 km) that opens onto a wide and pleasant lichen trail. The last part of this leg is
a rideable road that spans 2 km. It leads to the last refreshment station (5th) of the UTHC 65 km event. This is a good sign.

Difficulty level: Easy
Trail conditions: You will be on a ski trail on Mont Grand-Fonds. There are mudflats. The trail is clear and on grass. This is the
