ST. ANTHONY de PADUA CHURCH
Several folks have asked about our baptismal font in back
of church. The marble base was already cracked before we
tried to move it for carpet installation and, at that time, it
broke further and is no longer stable. Bryan Finkelstein,
our music director, had a connection to order a new
marble piece so that is in progress with hope to have the
font restored as near as possible to its original condition.

Family pictures for our new parish directory will be taken in the
middle of November and will be available for purchase for
keepsakes and Christmas gifts.
Our kiosk has arrived for the Catholic Lighthouse materials
mentioned over the past month or so. It will be assembled
soon and contain CDs, book, DVDs and pamphlets for
everyone to take, use and give away as needed. Our first
order included materials on the important topic of voting.
We had our Vacation Bible School a few weeks ago and
our school students return in a few weeks. A poster at a
Catholic school some years ago had this message: "Let it
be known to all who enter here that Jesus Christ is the
reason for this school, the unseen but ever-present
teacher in all its classes, the model of its faculty, and the
inspiration for its students." May the same be said about
all that we do for student and adult education.
Our new Catholic Lighthouse kiosk will be available
soon including materials for voting
Dave Durand is an internationally recognized
best-selling author, motivational speaker, sales
consultant, corporate executive, television guest,
host of a nationally syndicated weekly segment on
Relevant Radio, faithful Catholic, husband and
father. Did you know that the Catholic Church
teaches that there are numerous considerations
that can affect how a faithful Catholic can vote in
good conscience? Responsible citizenship is a duty,
but the topic can be confusing. In this presentation,
Dave Durand concisely presents the guidelines
produced by the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops (USCCB) to clearly advise and direct
Catholics to help them vote.

Sack Lunch Program
On the third Sunday of the even-numbered months (February, April, etc.),
we take sack lunches to the South Bend Center for the Homeless.
If you want to help out, just call Dan or Pat Fulcher at 574.276.3814 and
tell them how many sack lunches you will bring. If they see we do not
have enough sack lunches (a minimum of 50) then they will begin calling
people from the list we received from St. Anthony’s Ministry Fair. Each
family is asked to do what they can, although each preparer normally
does 10 or more sack lunches. Typical fare for the lunches is two
sandwiches (one meat and cheese and the other peanut butter and jelly),
chips, drink, fruit, and/or dessert, along with a napkin in a paper bag.
Substitute as you see fit (suggestions below). This lunch normally covers
the individual for lunch and a snack.
We take and appreciate all the sack lunches we can take over (there is
no maximum, or at least the Homeless Center has never turned away
any of our sack lunches!!). This is a wonderful project for the whole family
or an individual. Once you have sacked the lunches please bring them
after the 9:00am Mass on delivery Sunday. The Fulchers will be in the
parking lot of the church with their car trunk open. Their car is a Ford Cmax . They usually leave around 10:10am, but will wait longer if they
know you are coming.
Typical Lunch:
Possible Substitutions:
Paper bag
String Cheese
Napkin
Peanut Butter Crackers
Two sandwiches
Cheese Crackers
Fruit/Dessert
Fruit Cup

Family Friendship Program
International Student and Scholar Affairs (ISSA) at Notre Dame
is seeking families to participate in the Family Friendship
Program for 2016-17. The program pairs international students
with members of the local community in order to help these
students learn more about American culture and make the most of
their time at the university. This is not a homestay program but
rather a chance to get to know an international student by
spending time together and participating in activities of your
choosing. Families and individuals may apply online at
international. nd.edu/issa/current-students-and-families/familyfriendship-program by Friday, September 2, 2016. For more info,
please e-mail [email protected].
