Basic Newborn Baby Hat with Garter Stitch Edge

Materials
- 1/2 skein Bernat CottonTots – shown here in 90616 Lemon Berry
- US Size 7 needles (use dpns, two circs or magic loop – whichever you prefer
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
K = knit
K2tog = knit 2 sts together
P = purl
sts = stitches
Gauge - 20 sts - 26 rows = 4" (10 cm)
Garter Stitch Border
Cast on 56 sts. Being careful not to twist, join and knit
• Round 1: Knit around
• Round 2: Purl around
Repeat these two rounds for 10 rounds
Body of Cap
Switch to stockinette stitch by knitting each round until hat measures 6"
from cast on row.

Decrease as follows:
- *(K2tog, K 6) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog, K 5) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog, K 4) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog, K 3) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog, K 2) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog, K 1) - repeat around
- K 1 round
- *(K2tog) - repeat around
Cut a 6-8" tail. Thread tapestry needle and pass through remaining stitches. Pull
tight and weave in loose ends.
