Season Begins September 13!
Charter Communications continues to support AYSA by
providing cable TV and internet service, enhancing our ability
to communicate electronically and allowing staff to monitor
the Weather Channel on an ongoing basis. Charter’s
commitment to soccer and kids’ safety is much appreciated.
The second annual AYSA Kick It Forward Duluth Soccer Fair was held on April 26.
Approximately 700 kids and parents participated in the fair's activities. Highlights of the
day included a street soccer tournament that 127 kids participated in, the MN United skills
session, with hundreds of kids learning from the pros, and a soccer skills carnival for kids
to test their skills at different soccer games. We have many people and organizations to
thank for our success, a few of which are listed below. The soccer fair was created to give our
community a chance to celebrate our sport and the beginning of the outdoor play season. We also wanted to use this event to
raise money so that AYSA could insure that every kid in our community gets a chance to play soccer. Through sponsorships, a
silent auction and donations, we were able to raise over $7,000 from this event. All funds raised will be used to support AYSA's
Kick it Forward Soccer Programs. In partnership with Men as Peacemakers, the Boys and Girls Club and the Myers-Wilkins
Collaborative, AYSA offers after school soccer in low income neighborhoods, sponsors Boys and Girls Club teams, and provides
thousands of dollars in registration assistance funds. Thanks to all who helped kick it forward by participating in our soccer fair.
A huge thanks to our volunteers, silent auction donors, and a very special thanks to our sponsors, who gave generously of time,
money and in kind assistance. Sponsors Included:

An Invitation to All Youth Soccer Players
It’s time to register for the Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club
2016 competitive season! Gitchi Gummi Soccer is for
athletes who desire to reach a higher level in their
soccer development.
We take players from 8 to 17 years old who live in the
Twin Ports and the surrounding region. We have had
players from Grand Rapids to Ashland and all points
in between.
Tryouts for league teams (U12 – U17) will be in late
October and early November. Registration for U9 –
U12 tournament teams is on a first come, first served
basis - no tryouts will be held. The 2016 playing
season begins in May and ends in late July or early
August. Registration will be open from September 1st
and as always more information can be found at
http://www.gitchsoccer.com/
Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club’s mission is to provide for
player, coach, and referee development. The Club aims to
provide fun, educational programs for girls and boys ages

Congratulations to all our
Spring Upper Division
Teams for a great season!
WINTER IS COMING…
This winter the Arrowhead Youth Soccer Association and the Duluth
Area Family YMCA will partner to offer indoor soccer programs for
kids ages 3-11.
AYSA/YMCA Indoor League
This league will offer recreational coed soccer games for U6, U8 and
U11 players on Saturday mornings in the YMCA gym. Sessions for each
age group will be six weeks long. We believe this program will provide
an exciting soccer experience, as well as a chance to shake off those
winter doldrums and run like crazy! Registration and specific session
dates will be available at www.arrowheadsoccer.com
by November 1.
Winter Little NetBusters
AYSA’s extremely popular soccer program for 3-4 year old players moves
to the YMCA Gym for winter sessions.
Check the AYSA website www.arrowheadsoccer.com in October
for session dates and other details!
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program
District Select Program Registration:
2002, 2003 and 2004 Birth Years ONLY
District Select is the training and identification program for
Minnesota’s Olympic Development Program (ODP).
The District Select Program is open to all players and includes four training sessions and two one-day
festivals, one in the fall and one in the spring. At the conclusion of the process, a pool of approximately
36-50 players for each age group and gender will be identified for further training and potential selection
to a regional Olympic Development camp in July 2016.
Online registration is available at http://www.mnyouthsoccer.org/page/show/680954-odp. The cost is
$100. Payment includes two tryout shirts. If you sign up for the Fall program, you are automatically
registered for the Spring Festival. The Northeast District trainings will be held in Grand Rapids August 30,
September 13, September 20, and September 27 from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Festivals will be held on October
3, 2015 and May 7, 2016.
Questions may be directed to Chato Alvarado (952-252-1688) or (800-366-6972).
Thanks to our Supporters!
Arrowhead Youth Soccer is fortunate to have many financial supporters whose donations allow us to
keep fees low and still ensure that all players, regardless of income, can afford to play soccer. The
generous businesses or individuals that have contributed for 2015 are listed below.
If you are interested in helping assure that all kids that want to play soccer are
able to, contact Dave Geary at 624-1713.
