HELLO SUNSHINE Isn’t it fascinating how a few rays of sunshine are enough
to turn a normal day into something really special? The
sun has a magical effect on us human beings. It warms us,
it motivates us, it gives us energy and it allows us to see
things in a different light.

A different light on the way we see our energy needs
and how we generate that energy. So that energy is
made available in a way that is independent, unlimited
and above all carbon free. Inspired and motivated by
the great idea that is solar energy, we at Luxor have
been marketing our branded solar modules, manufactured by outside contractors, since 2004. With seven years of experience and an installed capacity of
165 MWp, Luxor is already an established company in
the young solar industry.
We are a company managed by entrepreneurs and are
structured as a German GmbH, which is no accident,
but was chosen very deliberately. It enables us to respond quickly to an ever-changing market. And it means
we can afford to take long-term, sensible decisions.
Not ones that are based on paying out quick dividends.
On the following pages we would like to introduce to
you the company Luxor, the Luxor products – and
above all our idea of real partnership. So the things
we really care about.

instead of large and cumbersome. With precisely two

The polycrystalline 60-cell module is the wide-area
all-rounder among the Luxor modules. The high wattage and comparatively low voltages make it possible
to connect more modules in series and therefore
achieve more effective capacity use from the inverters.
This makes Eco Line 60 ideal for large installations.
From solar farms to tracker systems to roof installations.
Polycrystalline cells are best in the 6" size. They are
more cost-effective to manufacture and have a lower
temperature coefficient.

We attach great importance to solid quality. Because
our customers do too, and so do their customers.
The good news is: the quality of a module from Luxor
isn’t only visible when it’s on the roof. It can be seen
during manufacture. This is where we contribute our
know-how, select the right components and know by
experience what happens next - and the things that
shouldn’t happen under any circumstances. The important thing is to control the key factors. The factors
that are responsible for the module doing its job properly: supplying electricity reliably and for a long time.
For the production of Luxor solar modules this means:
+ Our own manufacturing guidelines with clear inspection criteria and standards - monitored with the
quality awareness of German engineers.
+ Inspection points defined by Luxor Solar for entry control.
+ Production monitoring by on-site engineers.
+ 100 % pre-sorting of cells by power, voltage and
appearance.
+ 100 % testing of modules for micro cracks before
and after lamination using an electroluminescence process.
+ High-quality flasher with parameters tested and monitored by Luxor for accurate measurements.
This is how we build quality, which we at Luxor stand
by with our comprehensive guarantee. In addition,
we let others look over our shoulder too and have our
processes verified by independent test institutes.
With tests by independent experts and regular quality
controls, e.g. by TÜV Rhineland and TÜV Süd, as well
as by the Photovoltaics Institute in Berlin. Poor-light
performance, curing and temperature coefficients as
well as module output are all examined here with a very
close eye. Of course all our solar modules are certified in accordance with IEC 61215 and IEC 61730, MCS,
UL and JET. Do you have any more questions on these

WHERE WE PRODUCE IS LESS IMPORTANT THAN HOW WE PRODUCE: THE LUXOR WAY Marco Stifel

All Luxor solar modules are manufactured to the quality
standards of German engineers at international sites. By
production partners with which we have worked for
many years. And who give us the guarantee that our solar
modules are always made to the same quality.
Because the important thing is not where a solar
module is made. The important thing is who makes it:
we at Luxor do. Both in Europe and at sites in Asia.
Here for instance at a site in China. On site there are
25 Luxor employees – including five engineers – who
ensure 100 % quality control.

branch we can control production processes, guarantee the final inspection of goods reliably and coordinate ongoing comparative measurements by TÜV
Shanghai.
There are good reasons for this:
+ More flexibility: By purchasing manufacturing
capacities we can expand them flexibly as required.
+ Fair prices: This way we at Luxor save on considerable investments that would have to be recouped via
higher prices.
+ The latest technologies: our production partners are selected on the basis of the latest production equip-
ment and constantly developed together with Luxor.
But because not all factories are made the same, Luxor
has clearly defined criteria for selecting our partners.
They include visiting the production facilities and testing all processes as well as an in-depth financial examination. We carry out a full due diligence on potential
partners – covering their photovoltaics experience but
also their motivation.
At Luxor we value genuine partnership more than rapid
profit maximisation.

WHEN IT COMES TO DEPENDABILITY WE HAVE ONE MAJOR ROLE MODEL: THE SUN We think that commitments should be as dependable
as the fact that the sun rises every day: you just have to be
able to rely on them.
So one of the Luxor principles is not to sell anything
we don’t have. This doesn’t just apply to products: We
try to get by without using superlatives. We are not
the Porsche or the Mercedes among manufacturers of
solar modules. We are the Luxor among manufacturers
of solar modules. A solid, dependable product from a
solid, dependable company. Not more. But certainly
not any less. Of course dependability is best measured
in terms of punctuality. For us that means only confirming dates that we really know for certain and aren’t
just a guesstimate. We only confirm delivery dates for
goods that have definitively been shipped. That gives
us a somewhat shorter time horizon. But it also ensures
100 % clarity that you can depend on.
Of course the attribute “dependable” does apply to
our products as well. A complaint ratio of below 0.2 %
speaks for itself – and for us.

THINKING AHEAD ACTING SUSTAINABLY ENERGY THAT POWERS MORE THAN ONE SECTOR We believe that a company at home in the renewable
energy sector should also behave sustainably and responsibly outside its own industry.
From Hamburg for instance, our products go as far as
possible by rail and not by road. We make sure that
our printed material is carbon neutral. And we neutralise the emissions from flights to our production sites
with voluntary carbon offsets. Those are just a few examples of how we try every day to make our environment and our surroundings cleaner and conserve their
resources. A cooperative management style towards
our employees is part of it, as is the sustainable treatment of our products. At the end of their life-cycle
we take our solar modules back and dispose of them.
And of course this topic has a high priority when it
comes to dealing with our production partners in China.
The working conditions for the staff in our manufacturing plants and environmental considerations are
selection criteria too. We reckon they must be factored into every decision for or against a specific supplier. And if in doubt we would rather say no too often
than say yes when we shouldn’t. Wherever we manufacture, we strive for German production standards.
To be specific, that means for our Asian production
sites:
+ Eight-hour shifts instead of the usual twelve. That
is to our advantage as well. Because employees can
then concentrate on producing quality throughout.
+ Employees have three months of training before they start work on the production line.
+ We only employ staff on fixed contracts. No migrant workers are allowed in our production facilities and there is no child labour.
+ Our production facilities are well equipped and make use of the latest technology. We always ensur
that environmental damage is kept to an abso lute minimum.
Photovoltaics is a young and exciting business to
be in. For us as an enterprise. And for the fitter as
an entrepreneur.
Working with photovoltaics means working in a stable, well-functioning section of the economy. And
earning money there too - let’s be open about it. But
at Luxor we do also see photovoltaics as something
more: a vehicle for more democracy and more immediacy in power generation. Because energy that is
generated decentrally doesn’t require expensive hightension transmission lines - it can deliver its power
where it is produced and needed. If you understand
that, you understand what drives and motivates us at
Luxor. Why we are in this industry and not in another.
It is also about putting the indispensable resource
energy back into the hands of individuals. It is about
an element of freedom to act and think. Because one
day this market will be a classic marketplace like any
other. Then as well as being a step ahead technologically it will be important to be a step ahead in terms
of knowledge: What do we do with photovoltaics when
the feed-in tariff is abolished one day? We think out
loud about questions like that as well – and we think
beyond them. There are plenty of intelligent concepts
for the future. We at Luxor want to be part of them.
We want to keep on learning. And we want to play a role
in shaping them.
