You will need to supply: Polaris XCR 120 Snowmobiles Instillation
You will need to supply: Socket or wrench set Standard and Phillips screwdriver set Needle nose pliers Small Zip Tie (for Arctic Cat and SkiDoo only) Sportech Governor rod (for Polaris only) IMPORTANT: Perform all tasks correctly and completely. . Do not attempt to bend or modify the Sportech stainless steel Governor rod or the governor actuating arm. Modifying or bending these components could result in serious engine damage. CAUTION: Prevent fuel leaks! Be sure the fuel valve is shut off (clamp the hose if necessary). Polaris XCR 120 Snowmobiles Instillation Instructions 1. Open hood, standing on left side of sled (clutch side) locate engine throttle assembly. You will see two springs, the large spring closest to rear of the sled is the throttle return spring. DO NOT REMOVE THIS SPRING. Using a needle nose pliers remove the smaller spring, the spring closest to the front of the sled, starting with the end of the spring that goes through the governoractuating arm. Once the spring is removed from the actuating arm you can move the thumb throttle on the handle bar to half throttle for easy removal. Note on the throttle assembly what hole the spring came out of, the Sportech governor bypass rod should be installed in that same hole. 2. Using needle nose pliers, install the Sportech governor rod on the throttle assembly (the small or fishhook end) by moving the thumb throttle to the half position. Then move the thumb throttle to full position and slide the other end of Sportech Governor Rod (the larger hook) into the governor actuating armhole. Release the throttle, the Sportech rod should slide freely through governor actuating arm hole. 3. Using a needle nose pliers close the large end of the Sportech Governor Rod slightly. DO NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY. THE ROD MUST SLIDE THROUGH THE GOVERNOR ACTUATING ARMHOLE FREELY. Governor Bypass
The following are instructions for bypassing the Governor. Before you begin, read these instructions and check to be sure all parts and tools are accounted for. Please retain these installation instructions for future reference. Please note that a Sportech govornor rod is needed for the Polaris XCR 120. For the SkiDoo Mini Z and Arctic Cat Z120 all that is needed is a small zip tie and these instructions. 1. Open hood, standing on left side of sled (clutch side) remove the three bolts that hold the heat shield in place at the front of engine. You will see the governoractuating arm and the governor spring. 2. Install the Sportech zip tie through the center of the spring and start the zip tie. Do not tighten. Then move the thumb throttle to full position and hold. Now take up the slack in the zip tie. (DO NOT PULL THE ZIP TIE TIGHT. THE GOVERNOR – ACUTATING ARM NEEDS 1/8 –1/4 FREE PLAY AT FULL THROTTLE. OVER TIGHTING THE ZIP TIE COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE!) Release the thumb throttle and reinstall the engine heat shield. Check thumb throttle for smooth operation. Arctic Cat Z 120 Snowmobiles Installation Instructions 1. Open hood, standing on right side of sled (recoil side) remove the air box (110mm bolt, 2 10mm hex nuts at carburetor). With the air box removed, locate the governor actuating arm and attached spring. 2. Install the Sportech zip tie through the center of the spring and start the zip tie. Do not tighten. Then move the thumb throttle to full position and hold. Now take up the slack in the zip tie. (DO NOT PULL THE ZIP TIE TIGHT. THE GOVERNOR –ACUTATING ARM NEEDS 1/8 –1/4 FREE PLAY AT FULL THROTTLE. OVER TIGHTING THE ZIP TIE COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ENGINE DAMAGE!) Release the thumb throttle. Reinstall the air box. Check thumb throttle for smooth operation. Governor Bypass
