HOPE AND FORGIVENESS
There were some interesting conceptions of sin prevalent in the time of the
Hebrew scriptures. There was the belief that God punished sin immediately. Those who suffered disease or misfortune were,
therefore, sinners getting their due from the Almighty.
Today's first reading hints at another kind of God.
When David admits his sin, Nathan declares, "The
LORD on his part has forgiven your sin" (2 Samuel
12:13b). Here was not a vengeful God but a merciful
God. What good news that must have been to David
and those who, like him, could be honest enough to
admit their sinfulness!
Jesus is the good news of God's mercy and forgiveness
incarnate. Without Jesus, perhaps the good news
would have been too good to believe, too difficult to
imagine. But there he is in today's Gospel, the Godman, forgiving a sinner and declaring that she is forgiven because of her great love.
There is hope, then, for the rest of us sinners, if only

sacred ritual. We light a candle for many
purposes: to illuminate darkness, dedicate
prayers, solidify intentions, offer blessings,
evoke Spirit, and/or to nourish grateful living.

Sacred Heart. You can light a candle according to
your needs, and you can purchase a candle on a daily,

FATHER’S DAY MASS CARD
On the occasion of the Father’s Day on June 19th, we
will remember in our mass intentions all our Fathers,
living and dead, and will also give a special blessing for
them during the Mass. If you haven’t decided of a present to your Dad, please consider offering a spiritual gift
to him. You can drop by our Parish Office and ask for the
Mass Card. Donation is $10 per name, and we will remember him in our Mass intentions during the week.

VIVIENDO LA AUTENTICA VIDA
Cuando fallamos en vivir la vida que Dios
nos dio, estamos negando el sacrificio que
Jesús hizo por nuestra salvación.
Es fácil ver cuando fallamos vivir una
vida auténticamente. Pecamos. Racionalizamos nuestras decisiones. Nos anteponemos nosotros mismos. Tenemos miedo y
estamos cautivos de nuestra visión corta.
¿Cómo sabemos si estamos viviendo la vida que Dios dispuso para nosotros? La vida que la fe ofrece es una vida
autentica enraizada en Dios, cuyo Hijo Jesús murió pero
resucitó por nosotros. Una vida autentica refleja el valor
de lo que se nos ha sido dado, eso es, la vida de Jesús, que
fue sacrificada en la cruz.
Necesitamos solamente medir nuestras vidas con los estándares que proyecta la vida de Jesús: debemos actuar
justamente, amar compasivamente y caminar humildemente con Dios (ver Miqueas 6:8). Eso es todo lo que se
nos pide.

Dance” at Sacred Heart Parish Hall

Summer camp is a time-honored tradition
for kids. Whether it’s an all-day camp or
cabin sleepaway, kids can get out of the house, learn
new skills, and make friends. Parents who send their
kids off to camp should be sure to research the camp
and the counselors who will be watching their kids. If
your child is going to sleep-away camp, check in by
phone or mail regularly. Ask questions and ensure that
