instructions on configuring your web browser for access to
TrialMaster can be accessed with a web browser on either a Windows or Mac computer. We’ve put
together this document to keep you up to date on which browsers we support, and to share tips for
customizing your browser so you’re always getting the latest TrialMaster features.
1.0 Supported Browsers
Microsoft Internet Explorer (for Windows).
• Supported versions: 8, 9 10 and 11.
Apple Safari (for Mac).
• Supported version: 5.X.
Mozilla Firefox (for Windows or Mac).
• Supported versions: 3.6+ and newer.
Google Chrome (for Windows).
• Supported versions: 8.0 + and newer.
When we say a browser is “supported” we mean it has been tested thoroughly and validated for
TrialMaster.
If you are using a supported version listed above, you are getting the best experience possible with
TrialMaster. If you ever find something is not working as it should, contact customer care, and
diagnosing and fixing your issue will be a priority.
Skip to the section below for your specific browser to find recommended settings that ensure you get
the most out of TrialMaster; as well as workarounds (where available) for newer, not-yet-supported
versions of your browser.
2.0 Internet Explorer (IE)
We currently support IE versions 8, 9, 10, and 11. The following sections describe a few ways you
can customize Internet Explorer to ensure you’re getting the latest TrialMaster features.
Note: The screen shots in the following sections are taken from IE10; your screens may look
slightly different if you are using another version.
2.1 Check for Newer Versions
This setting prevents caching – so your browser is always checking to see if a web page has been
updated, instead of displaying a “stale” version of the page it has stored from a previous visit.
Follow these steps:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools menu (1) and select Internet Options (2)
1
2
3.
On the General tab, under Browsing History, click Settings (3).
3
4. Under the Temporary Internet Files tab at the top of the window, make sure “Automatically”
(4) is selected.
4
5. Click OK twice.
2.2 Make TrialMaster a Trusted Site
IE will operate with relaxed security on sites you mark as Trusted, so you can browse or download
and run files on those sites without IE blocking anything or displaying warnings. In other words,
Trusted sites are excluded from the browser’s normal security settings. Here is how to add
TrialMaster as a Trusted site:
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools (1) menu and select Internet Options (2)
1
2
3. On the Security tab, select the Internet icon (3) and set the Security level to Medium or
Medium-Low (4).
3
4
4. Next, select the Trusted Sites icon (5). Then click the Sites button (6).
5
6
5. On the window that appears, copy/paste your TrialMaster URL (web address) into the space
labeled, “Add this website to the zone” (7) and click Add (8).
Note that your TrialMaster address will be different than the one pictured in the example
below.
Click Close (9), and then click OK.

2.4 Turning off the pop-up blocker for the TrialMaster website
It is necessary to turn off the pop-up blocker in order for the TrialMaster website to be displayed
properly. If this step is not done, you will see an Incompatible Browser page when attempting to
access the TrialMaster login page.
1. Make sure that the IE menu bar is visible. The IE menu bar contains the following menu
buttons: File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help
To make the IE menu bar visible, right-click on any part of browser header frame and select
Menu Bar
2. Click on the Tools Menu (1) and select Pop-up Blocker (2)
3. From the sub-menu that opens, select Pop-up Blocker settings (3)
Note: If this option is disabled, this means you currently have the pop-up blocker turned
off and do not need to perform any additional steps.

3.0 Safari
We currently support Safari version 5.X for the Mac OS. There is not yet a workaround for Safari 6
(as provided with Mac OS X Mountain Lion). If you have already upgraded, we recommend using
Mozilla Firefox (see the Firefox section below).
The following sections describe a few ways you can customize Safari to ensure you’re getting the
latest TrialMaster features.
3.1 Enable Background Pictures
This setting ensures that you can view print-friendly versions of documents in TrialMaster.
1. Open Safari
2. Click the File menu and select Print.
3. Make sure “Print Backgrounds” is selected, and click OK.
3.2 Enable the Status Bar
TrialMaster displays messages on the browser’s status bar – for example, if you mouse over a
question on a form, the status bar displays the SAS name for that question.
1. Open Safari
2. Click the View menu and select Show Status Bar (as in the image below).
3.3 Allow Popup Windows
Popups are necessary for notes on iCRFs, and other windows that are occasionally triggered based
on data entered in TrialMaster. Here is how to enable popup windows in Safari:
1. Open Safari
2. Click the Safari menu and select Preferences (as in the image below).
3. Select the Security tab, and make sure Block pop-up windows is unchecked (as in the image
below).
3.4 Set the User Agent
When connecting to a website, Safari (like all browsers) sends a “user agent” to identify itself. You
can change the user agent that Safari sends, to simulate a different browser. If you are having
trouble connecting to TrialMaster, we suggest changing this setting. Note that you may have to
change it each time you open TrialMaster:
1. Open Safari
2. Click the Safari menu and select Preferences (as in the image below).
3. Select the Advanced tab and make sure Show Develop menu in menu bar is checked (as in
the image below).
4. Click the Develop menu in Safari and select User Agent. Select any of the six options pictured
inside the red box below.
