Background:
The Park “Khel Khel Mein” was inaugurated on 1st of January, 2012 by a local resident
girl, Azra Bibi with the aim of exposing the children from rural backgrounds to urban
facilities and broadening their vision. A year has gone by during which Volunteers for
Kids, Sehberg Trust has conducted various activities contributing to the above stated
aim. During the year, KKM has been able to provide a safe and healthy environment to
the children for learning through play. On the 6th of January, 2013, the first Annual Day
was organized by a team of dedicated teachers and the children who regularly
participate in the Park’s activities. The teachers and children themselves decorated the
Park with ribbons and buntings and various charts showing the activities carried out in
2012.
The objective of the Annual Day was to celebrate the first years’ success with the
children and showcase their talent to their parents and the community.
Participants:
Seventy invitations were sent out to the parents of the children, teachers of local
schools and community members.
Approximately 90 children and 75 guests attended the ceremony. Majority of the guests
were female and male attendance was about 20%.
The Programme:
38 children show cased their talent that day, ranging in ages from 2 years to 14 years.
The programme started with Tilawat of Quran and its translation, followed by a Naat.
The programme had a variety of events which showed the singing, acting and sports
talents of the children (agenda attached).
