Program Setup Instructions
Regional Settings:
1.
Click on

Click on the File Locations tab on top. Here, you can set where you will store the auto rater
quotes, finance applications, auto applications and MVRs.

Program Info Tab:
NYPASS Access Details
1. Click on the Program Info tab on the top right. Your screen should look similar to the one below:

Next to “NY Pass License #:” enter your broker’s license number without the “BR”.
3.
Next to “ProdLicOcc:” enter 1
4.
Next to NY Pass Password: enter the same password you use to logon to the NYPASS site.
Acord/Upload Information
1. Call your internet provider and find out what your SMTP address is. This will allow you to send
most of our forms via Email with the click of a button. This is not necessary for NYPASS
Uploads.
2. Leave the Port as 25
3. Enter your Account name if you have one for you email server.
MVR Lookup
For the AR solution only, you can run mvrs after you do a quote. The program will run the mvrs
and auto dump the violations in the fields and recalculate the quote. This is coming soon for our full rater
versions. You can call United Software for an MVR Account. This is where you would enter your User
Name, Account Number and Password.
MVR Defaults:

Go to the main menu

Click on

Click on SETUP OPTIONS. The MVR Options window should come up:

Enter your user name, account number and password.
5.
Check the box if you want your default browser to be used when running an MVR.
6.
On the bottom of this screen, you can choose where to store your mvrs. Click on the square box to
the right of this line and follow the same steps as in the top of this page.
7.
Click on the Close button
. The MVR Searh menu should come up.
Finance Default Setup:
Contract Setup:
1. Go to the main menu

Click on Setup Options.

Click on the Options tab.

Click on the tab marked Defaults. Your screen should now look like the one shown below:
. This should bring up the Finance Menu:

Enter the fee you charge in the Other Fees field. Usually $40

Enter 15% using the drop down list next to Down Payment

Click on the 10 payments radio button
Check Setup:
1.
Click on the “Check” tab. Your screen should look like the one shown below:

You will see a box marked Left and a box marked Top. These are the numbers to set the
alignment on the draft. You can make copies of the draft for testing. A setting of 0 for Left and
0 for Top usually works. Click on the “Test print” button and choose to print the draft only.
Change the numbers until it aligns properly.

When you are finished aligning the draft, Click “Exit”, then Click “No” when asked if you want to
save the application to return to the Finance Menu.
Payments Inc. Web Site Setup:
1.
Click on
up:
. The Make Payments window should come
2.
Enter your user name and password for Payments Inc.
3.
When you want to check on an account, go to this screen and click on the pushbutton on top. It
will automatically launch the web site and log you in to check any accounts.
4.
Click on the “Exit” button on the bottom of the page.
Producer Info
1.
From the Main Menu click on
the Finance Menu:

Click on Setup Options.

Click on the Producer tab. Your screen should look similar to the one shown below:

Fill in your information and agent code provided by Payments Inc.
5.
Click on “Exit”, then Click “No” when asked if you want to save the application to return to the
Finance Menu.
MVR Search Instructions
NOTE: You must be connected to the internet in order to run or retrieve an MVR Search.
Please make sure you are connected to the internet before proceeding.
Accessing The MVR Search Program:
Step 1 - You can access the MVR Search program one of three ways:
1) If you have our Rating software you can click the button marked
on the Main Menu. (This will open the menu
shown below).
2) If you have the standalone MVR you can launch the menu by double-clicking on
the MVR icon on your desktop. (This will open the menu shown below).
NOTE: If You have already stored your login information, go to Step 8, otherwise
follow Steps 3 through 7 below.
3) Click On “Setup Options”. This should open up an options screen similar to the
one shown below:
4) Next to User Name enter the user name you selected when we set up your MVR
account.
5) Next to Account # enter the account number we gave you when we set up your
MVR account.
6) Next to Password enter the password we gave you when we set up your MVR
account.
7) Verify that the information has been entered correctly and then click on “Close”.
Running An MVR:
8) To run a New York MVR Search, click on “Enter Multiple Searches Offline”. This
should bring up the MVR Runner screen similar to the one shown on the next page.
9) Enter the license number or numbers you would like to run a search on and hit enter
after each one. If you are entering multiple license numbers they should appear in a
list as shown below.
10) Once you have entered all of the license numbers that you wish to run a search on,
click “Run MVRs”. The MVR Lookup screen will come up and check to see if the
license number(s) that you wish to run have been run before. If they have a
message will pop up similar to the one shown below:
11) If you wish to use the existing MVR, click on “Yes”, if you wish to run the MVR
again click on “No”. The program will then display the results of the search in a
window similar to the one shown below:
12) To view an MVR you can either double-click it or click on it once and then click
“View Selected”.
13) To print one MVR click on it once and then click “Print Selected”. To print all of
the MVRs clock on “Print All”.
14) To email one MVR click on the MVR and then click “Email Selected”. To email
all of the MVRs click on “Email All”.
15) To save the MVRs as a group click on “Save”. To return to the MVR Search Menu
click on “Close”.
Running MVRs for different state or VIN/PLATE search:
16) To run a search for a different state, or to run a VIN/PLATE search, repeat steps 1
and 2 from the beginning of this help file. This should bring you to the MVR
Search menu (shown below).
17) Click on “Connect to Login Screen”. This should launch your Internet Browser,
such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, and take you to the MVR Main
Menu (shown below).
18) To run a VIN/PLATE search click on “New York M.V. Registration”. You should
see a screen similar to the one shown below:
19) To search by VIN enter the VIN of the vehicle and click on “Order”.
20) To search by Plate Number, click on “VIN Number” and choose “Plate Number”
from the list that drops down. Then enter the Plate Number and click on “Order”.
21) To run a New Jersey MVR click on “New Jersey MVR History” on the MVR Main
Menu. You should see a screen similar to the one shown below:
22) Enter the License# and click on Order. Leave Quote Back blank as this is only used
by larger Insurance Companies. The system will run the MVR and display a result
similar to the one shown below:
To Retrieve an MVR Search Run Within The Past 90 Days:
1) From the Main Menu (shown below) click on Report Menu.
2) The Account Statement Screen will be displayed (shown below). Choose the date
range (Under show transactions for) and Order (Under Sort By) in which to display the
transactions and then click on Submit.
How to Give an Auto Quote
1) While in the main menu click on the
button.
2) You should now be in the Liability and Physical Damage screen (shown below).
3) Click on the “Zip Code” button. Enter the applicant’s zip code, then click “OK”
(this will put in the proper territory).
4) Under “Year” use the down arrow to choose the year of the applicant’s car.
5) Click on the “Symbol” button. The ISO Symbol Lookup window should appear
(show below).
6) Use the down arrow to the right of “Make” to choose the make of the applicant’s
car.
7) Use the down arrow to the right of “Model” to choose the model of the
applicant’s car (if more than one of the same model exist refer to the VIN number
for further assistance).
8) Click “OK”. If the Windsor and/or GMAC Symbol Lookup windows popup click
Cancel on them. You should now be returned to the Liability and Physical
Damage screen.
9) Use the down arrow by the “Age” button in order to select the applicant’s age.
10) Use the down arrow near the “Years of Experience” to select the years of driving
experience the applicant has.
11) For “Gender”, “Mar Status”, “Defensive Drv”, and “Lic in NY” check all boxes
that apply to your applicant.
12) Click on the “Points” button and the Violations window will pop up (shown
below).
13) Enter all your applicant’s violations and conviction dates. When finished click
“OK”.
14) If you have an Occasional driver enter their age by the “Age” button just like
before and all the information is put in the same way as above.
15) Under “Discounts” check all boxes that apply.
16) When everything is filled in click “Page Down”. This should take you to the
Coverages screen (shown below).
17) Click on the circles of all the coverages that apply to your applicant (use the down
arrows for Comp. and Coll.).
18) The rates for the policy (shown at the bottom of the Coverages screen) will
change as you select the different coverage options.
19) If you are a user of our MVR Service you can click on the “MVRs” button in the
lower left-hand corner of the Coverages Screen to run MVRs from within the
program. This will run the MVR and automatically enter the violations and date
of birth of the applicant(s) and adjust the rate according to any chargeable
violations. When you click on the “MVRs” button a screen should appear similar
to the one shown below:
20) Click on “Run MVRs Now” and a screen will come up (shown below) asking you
to input the license number of each applicant that you indicated on the quote.
Enter the license # of each applicant and then click “Perform MVR Search”
21) The MVR Lookup screen will come up and check to see if the license number(s)
that you wish to run have been run before. If they have a message will pop up similar
to the one shown below:
22) If you wish to use the existing MVR, click on “Yes”, if you wish to run the MVR
again click on “No”. The program will then display the results of the search in a
window similar to the one shown below:
23) To view an MVR you can either double-click it or click on it once and then click
“View Selected”.
24) To print one MVR click on it once and then click “Print Selected”. To print all of
the MVRs clock on “Print All”.
25) To email one MVR click on the MVR and then click “Email Selected”. To email
all of the MVRs click on “Email All”.
26) To save the MVRs as a group click on “Save”. To return to the Coverages Screen
of the auto quote click on “Close”.
23) Now click “Page Down”. This should take you to the Breakdown screen (shown
below).
27) Review the breakdown of the quote then click “Page Down” when ready. This
should take you to the Payment Options screen (shown below).
28) Now choose the payment option for your applicant (the new payment schedule will
appear as you click).
29) You are now ready to save your quote by clicking the “Save” button and print using
the “Print” button.
30) If you want to fill out an Auto application for this customer click on “Upload App”.
Otherwise you can exit the program by clicking the “X” in the upper right corner or
by clicking on the “Main Menu” button at the bottom of the screen.
Download Instructions for Updates
1. Start the Rating Software.
2. In the lower right-hand corner of the main menu click on
window should pop up similar to the one shown below:

3. Click on Download Update. A box will pop up prompting you to make sure you
are connected to the Internet. Click on “OK”
4. The program will check to see if a more recent version of the software is available
and ask if you want to download it:
5. If the date of the online copy is more recent than the date of your local file click
“Yes”, otherwise click “No” and you will be returned to the main menu.
6. If you clicked “Yes” a window will pop up showing the progress of your
download and how much time remains until the download is complete:
7. Once the download has completed a window will pop up similar to the one shown
below:
8. Click on “Unzip”. The program files will begin unzipping and after a few seconds
another window will pop up telling you the files were unzipped successfully.
Click on “OK”.
9. This will launch you into the setup program. Follow the on-screen setup
instructions to install the program. Click “Finish” when the program is done
installing.
