Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer! We had a great time at Folly Beach with the Islanders Shag Club. CSC and ISC
had about 50+ people come out for the beach party on July 18 th. Turned out to be a very nice day ± warm but with a nice breeze.
We had fried chicken from the Pig and lots of great sides from everyone. I think everyone had a great time.
Speaking of a great time, the Membership Appreciation Party was a great success. I believe we had 80+ people attend.
Special thanks to our cooks: James Carter and Doug Peagler cooked the steaks and chicken while Charlie Leonard prepared his faPRXV³EDNHG´SRWDWRHV:HSUHSDUHGRYHUVWHDNVFKLFNHQVDQGSRWDWRHV± and they were all gone at the end of the night!
Also, thanks to all those who helped and to the CSC board members for all their work. And Walter Upchurch kept us all smiling
and dancing with continuous great music.
:HKDGRXUFOXEPHHWLQJGXULQJWKHSDUW\7KH6KDJJHU¶V3RWZDVXSWR%DUEDUD1LFNOHV¶QDPHZDVGUDZQEXWVKH
was not present. So at our next meeting, August 2 nd, the Pot will be $975. Remember, your must be a member, present at the meeting, pay $3 and sign the book to be eligible to win.
We also took the opportunity to recognize one of members who has worked behind the scenes for our club for years. Hart
Roberts has been handling the clubs taxes and detailed financials for years. Hart does a great job and is a joy to work with. He
helps to support the club treasurer and adds an additional level of oversight and accountability for the entire board. As a token of
our appreciation, we presented Hart with a gift certificate and two complementary tickets for Geechee Blast. Thank you Hart.
Thank you to Joe and Dot Tucker, their granddaughter and Jo Patrick for going out to Camp Happy Days at the end of June
to give the children shag lessons before there big dance. Joe said the first class was small with only 7 campers. But the second class
was sort of overwhelming with 50 campers. The lessons went well and most seemed to enjoy it and were attentive.
August is here and I hope you are making plans to attend the 4th annual Charleston Beach Music & Shag Festival, August

Last Month, Becky and I attended the ACSC Summer Workshop in Jacksonville, FL. The First Costal Shag Club (FCSC)
GLGDIDQWDVWLFMREKRVWLQJWKHZRUNVKRS,WZDVDJUHDWSDUW\,JDWKHUHGVRPHLQIRUPDWLRQIURPWKHPHHWLQJWKDW,¶GOLNHto share
with you. So far, the ACSC along with individual clubs have donated almost $20,000 to the relief efforts for the NMB Fires. We
VKRXOGDOOEHSURXGRIWKDW$OVRWKLVIDOOWKHUHZLOOEHDFHUHPRQ\WR³/LJKWWKH:DWHU7RZHU´,WZLOOEHDEHDXWLIXOVLght to see
the landmark water tower, with the shaggers painted on the side, lighting up the night-time sky. The day and time published in the
Care Free times is Friday at 9:00, but it has been changed to Saturday at 8:00. Also, if you are attending Fun Monday, and I hope
you are, please help in keeping the sidewalks clear for pedestrians and emergency personnel. The streets are cleared for you to setup
your seat and like last year, no coolers. Read your Care Free Times for more information.
Also, we are planning on having a booth to sell water at Fun Monday. So come on by and get drink and support the club.
