Summer 2014 - Cungulla Fishing Club
PRESENTATION NIGHT 2014
A PERFECT END TO THE YEAR
SUMMER EDITION
A Black and White theme produced lots of excellent costumes at the Club’s annual presentation night.
Members became creative and played around with the theme. Winners of the best costume prizes were ‘The
Kiss Band’, Donna Gilbert, Fallon James and Alex Steinhardt. Sixteen lucky ticket holders took home prizes of
vouchers valued from $25 to $100. Kerry Schofield took home a ham from Precinct Meats and Marilyn
Matthews was the ultimate lucky member winning a $300 voucher from Jupiters Casino.
Presentation Night is so much fun but it doesn’t happen without quite a bit of work. This year thanks goes to
Pam James and her team for excellent catering. Natalie Mathison took on the huge responsibility of organising
decorations and trophies. Glenda McCloskey organised prize vouchers. Maureen Draper was a fantastic MC.
Warren McDonald took on the great responsibility of making sure everything was smooth behind the bar. Lots
of members turned out to clean and decorate the hall. Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support!

JUNIOR FISHING DAY WAS SO MUCH FUN!
The tide was in, the weather perfect and 35 kids were keen. There were enough fish caught to
keep the weigh master busy and the kids were happy to release whiting and a shovel nose. All
fish caught were measured and prizes awarded to the boy and girl with the longest fish and
the most fish. Everyone enjoyed a sausage sizzle and Dairy Farmers milk, as well as icecreams and water melon. Over $1000 worth of prizes was distributed. Even a pod of dolphins
put in an appearance, playing in the bay to enthral the crowd.
This shovel nose measuring 43cm won a
rod and reel for Dustin Brimelow.
Lily Trudgett showed everyone how it’s
done by landing 3 whiting. She won a
new rod and reel.
Zac Abdul-Rahman weighed in an
18cm whiting before releasing it.

BJ Webber was justifiably proud of this 67cm
barramundi that he weighed in to win a
prize in the October barra competition. The
story goes that BJ was out fishing with Kevin
Cook and Kevin Hansen. They left him to
watch 4 rods while they went after live bait.
This barra decided to take a bait on 2kg line
and a whiting hook. The fish put up a great
fight. BJ had to play it and land it on his own.
Well done BJ, that is skilful fishing!
