* By the mid­1860's, Vallejo had grown into a community with its feet in the rural world of
farming and the urban world of ship construction. This changed with the organization of the
California Pacific Railroad in 1867. The California Pacific was organized for the purpose of
building a railroad from Vallejo to Sacramento, allowing passengers to travel via steamboat
from San Francisco to Vallejo, then by rail to the state capital and a connection with the
transcontinental line.
* The Vallejo Admirals Baseball Club began operation in 2013, but Vallejo's baseball history
goes back many years. In 1903, Vallejo's semi­pro baseball team won the Central California
Baseball League Championship playing its home games at the Cyclodrome on Georgia
