Dear Associate,
The FIBC industry has been party to an enormous globalization and consolidation process during the past decade.
To reflect this and accommodate the shifting needs of our
members and the industry as a whole, we had to adopt significant changes in our Association policy. These changes
include opening the Association membership to non-European FIBC Companies in order to properly reflect the increasing
influence of non-European players in the market. Furthermore, we simplified the membership categories to create equal
status for manufacturers and traders: a step necessary to provide a fair platform for the growing trading sector within the
European FIBC business.
Throughout the necessary transformation, it remained a key focus for us to maintain the core strengths of EFIBCA which
have fortified it’s global reputation over almost 30 years; its strong and trustful relationships with FIBC user industries and
legislative bodies on the one hand and its ability to keep pace with the challenging shifts in the business environment on
the other hand.
EFIBCA also remains true to the relentless promotion of quality standards; a mission which has been the driving force of
the Association since it was established in 1983. This led to the publication of the first FIBC standard by EFIBCA in 1985
subsequently becoming the best known and most widely adopted standard worldwide. Quality is still the most important
concern of our customers and we take it very seriously. EFIBCA has dedicated a special committee to set up quality criteria
and assurance procedures for Big Bags. This committee will soon come up with a unique quality mark, the “EFIBCA-Cert”
which will be promoted throughout the industry. We think that striving for ever improving standards of quality and safety
should be voluntary and foremost in most of our members’ priorities and assume that all our members will take the opportunity to participate in the EFIBCA-Cert quality scheme.
In 2008, we introduced Open Meetings as a new communication platform to bring all stakeholders of the FIBC business
together and discuss the latest news and trends impacting our industry. Through such activities, we help promote FIBCs
as a unique high performance, cost effective, environmentally attractive and versatile packaging medium for the industry.
This very successful event is held at least every two years as a result of tremendous support of members and users.
The constantly increasing number of full and associate members at EFIBCA is an indication for me that we are on the right
track to meet the requirements of our marketplace. I am very honoured to be part of this successful Association and thank
all of you for your continued support and positive feedback.
