EVENT AGENDA
WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS
CHEQUAMEGON 40
The Chequamegon 40 is the weekend’s main event. On Saturday,
this 40-mile point-to-point marathon length off-road bicycle event travels
from downtown Hayward, WI., over the famed American Birkebeiner Ski
Trail, forest roads, snowmobile trails and other wooded lanes to the finish
line at Telemark Resort in Cable, WI. 2,100 participants will take part in
this challenging contest.
SHORT & FAT
This 16-mile race/tour is the perfect introductory event for those new
to off-road cycling, younger riders or for those not ready to tackle the
rigors of the marathon Chequamegon 40. Starting in Cable on Saturday,
it utilizes forest roads, the Birkie Ski Trail and other backwoods trails,
and finishes at Telemark Resort. 1,000 will participate.

departs at 10:00 a.m., $10 tour. Generous swag and random drawings. For further info check out www.cambatrails.org.
THE TERRAIN
The course profile for all events is a roller coaster conglomeration of
glacial features, typified by a rolling succession of 25- and 50-foot
climbs. While not a technically demanding course in terms of tricky
switchbacks and narrow single track trails, the Chequamegon Fat Tire
Festival race courses simply wear you down with the never-ending
changes of terrain and surface conditions.

Welcome to
Chequamegon 34
This year we celebrate thirty-four years of off road cycling adventure in northwestern Wisconsin. Thank you
for joining us as we all look forward to a spectacular weekend of fat tire racing and fun.
Our decade’s long success is possible through a coordinated team effort of individuals, industry leaders and
organizations. Once again we welcome Trek, our Presenting Sponsor, who continues their twenty-four year run
of support. Trek’s contributions to the event, as well as to the advocacy programs of the Chequamegon Area
Mountain Bike Association, are unmatched and greatly appreciated.
A hearty Chequamegon thank you goes out to the many sponsors in all levels for their continued
partnership. It is the financial, merchandise and in kind contributions from our national, regional and local
sponsors who make this event possible. Please show your gratitude to our supporters by your patronage
throughout the year.
The Chequamegon weekend’s greatest asset is the dozens of experienced key race staff members who
professionally guide the event operations. With a customer service focus, the staff’s coordination of hundreds of
hard working volunteers insures that your experience is second to none. Take time during the race weekend to
thank the staff and volunteers for their dedicated service.
It is the Chequamegon family participants who deserve a big pat on the back for all you do for the event. As
responsible users of the forest resource, you set a great example of a sustainable activity that provides
entertainment and health for the entrants, excitement for the spectators and economic benefit for the
surrounding communities.
We are glad you are all here; participants, sponsors, staff and volunteers. Let’s all have a great weekend
during the 34th Anniversary Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival presented by Trek.
–Gary Crandall
