You can order at: [email protected] Visit our Volunteers’ Bazaar at: fazendoanimaisfelizes.blogspot.com Month of July was dominated by our summer Festival. Here are some pictures from the event. But nevertheless we continued with normal activities: Saturday adoptions, structural works in the shelter, the walk-‐the-‐dog day… This month Marisa has something to meow about! Check it out in page 4! Help us by calling our solidarity number: 760 20 70 60 In this section we present you the animals that arrived to our Association during July: Keisha, Kenya, Kendo, Kondor, Kalinka, Ronaldo, Rambo, Cliff, Liliana, Estrela, Daisy, Karine, Lutecia, Belga, Cotton, Lima, Lutoia, Tini, Swiry and 2 (yet to name) female cats. On Saturday 23rd of July two female dogs were abandoned near our shelter. We called them Daisy and Estrela.
They are two senior female dogs, both very small. They are very sweet and gentle. Both are very thin, they must have been hungry for long time. Daisy limps on one leg and she has only one eye. But – surprise! – the vet found out that both of them are sterilized. So one day they used to have a home and someone was caring for them. What is their story? We don’t know… But the most important is that they are now in the shelter and we need a new home for them! “Hi! I am Marisa, I am 22 years old and for the last 5 years a volunteer of Bianca. In fact I know Bianca since I was born because my parents were always members of the Association and then I decided to join and help. I still remember the first time when we went to Lisbon for the world animal day – I was surrounded by the four legged friends and I loved it. Since then I continued. Then I only had one cat, Nelinho and when someone asked if I wanted to adopt a cat I said: I cannot, I already have one – and they were asking: only one? At that time I did not know why they were so surprised.... Two years passed and I found on the street a kitten on the street. She was very scared, I took her home and we wanted to have her for adoption but then we got attached to her and we decided to keep her. Nelinho loved her. She was always a bit distant and kept to herself. But then she was not even one year old when she disappeared due to some simple lapse of attention.... One year later we decided to become a temporary family – and we welcomed home 3 tiny kittens aged less than 15 days. We had to feed them, take care of them and prepare them for the adoption. We kept the girl and she is the princess of our home today. She follows me everywhere. The other reason why we have cats at home is therapy – my family suffers of depression and those lovely rebellious animals help my family to cope with daily difficulties and to minimize the symptoms of this various serious sickness of the 21st century. More than 100 cats passed through our house, all of them with their own story, sometimes a sad inhuman story of suffering that I am not even able to tell you. But they all changed my life. Bianca helped me to understand the gravity of a problem – abandoned animals. If you like puppies or kittens, don’t make your dogs or cats have babies. Save those that could not choose, give them a home. Permanent or temporary. It is a unique and gratifying experience. Something that makes us grow inside. If you want, come to my house to see and to meet them – animals are best friends that would never abandon us!” So here goes the list of the lucky ones in July: Annika, Bentley, Biscuit, Glória (Giga), Guga, Hatchi, Janine, Mafalda, Maxima, Miko, Mona, Morry, Nadine, Ofélia, Caju (Richard), Pluto (Sailor), Samuel, Sissi, Solange, Spiga, Spikey, Tizzy, Tobias, Trufa and Zimbra If the pictures of your dog or cat are not here – remember that you are always welcome to send them to us and we will put them on our webpage in the section of adopted cats and adopted dogs. And you can also send us your stories and we will put them on our blog: http://bianca-‐pet-‐rescue-‐adoption.blogspot.com/ We love getting news from our animals! Join BIANCA Facebook Group Over 2000 registered members! WE NEED FOOD FOR DOGS AND CATS! Our dogs eat OVER 400 kg of food a week.
