Dear Friends,
Dear Friends of Pen Ryn,
The Pen Ryn Fund is our
annual giving campaign.
Thank you to everyone who
gave so generously in many
ways.
This year’s Head of School
report is a testimony to the
continued support Pen Ryn
has received during this past
year from so many in our
school community. Thanks to all of you for your
commitment and generosity. Support of Pen Ryn
comes from a variety of sources. The parents, faculty
and staff, PTO, School Board, grandparents, alumni
and friends have provided not only monetary gifts but
also “Gifts in Kind,” their wonderful talents and many,
many volunteer hours.
Through your efforts and support we have been able
to offer:
• ongoing growth in our Science program
• professional development for our dedicated faculty
• expansion of our special subjects
• fiscal stability and responsibility continue to be a
strong characteristic during these uncertain
economic times
• technology continues to be a major component of
our curriculum
• the addition of chess as a class for our students
Considering the educational issues in the world today
Pen Ryn continues to maintain a high quality of life for
our students. For over 66 years The Pen Ryn School
strives to provide rigorous academics, independent
thinking and respect for one another.
Thank you for being an integral part of The Pen Ryn
experience. Thanks for recognizing a wise investment!
Sincerely,
Liz Morton, Head of School
Dear Pen Ryn Family
On behalf of my fellow members
of the Board of Trustees, we would
like to congratulate our school
community on a wonderfully
successful year for Pen Ryn. The
spirit of Pen Ryn shines bright and
the tradition of excellence speaks
clearly through the hard work and
dedication of our students, parents
and faculty. Our mission to
nurture, encourage and empower
our next generation of young
people has never been more
imperative and Pen Ryn continues
to lead the way for students locally
and from abroad. Technology and
information has expanded our
reach and our community to all
sides of the globe, it has changed
the way we communicate and has
forever changed the way the new
world community will connect and
work together. We are proud to
watch our students graduate as
thinkers and doers, with a strong
moral compass and a passion to be
life-long learners in a global
environment. We can never say
enough to thank those parents,
faculty, alumni, administrators and
trustees who give the extra effort
each year to make Pen Ryn such a
wonderful learning environment.
Pen Ryn has never been stronger
and we thank you.

every phase of her Pen Ryn career.

Dear Pen Ryn Family,
Dear Pen Ryn Families,
During the 2012-2013 school year, the Pen Ryn PTO celebrated another successful year of sponsoring events that served to raise funds needed to
enhance our children’s educational experience and continue to foster a sense of school-wide community. Monies raised by the Pen Ryn PTO fund school
assemblies, purchase equipment, improve the facilities at the school and so much more. Moreover, the PTO brings us all together to strengthen the spirit
of The Pen Ryn School.
Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished as a group this past school year:
September: The Ice Cream Social brought everyone together to enjoy some cool treats and celebrate the beginning of another school year. The
Magazine Drive was one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Fueled by the support of the entire Pen Ryn community, we raised more than $10,000.
October: We enjoyed a Moonlight Bowling Party at the Family Bowling Night held at Levittown Lanes.
November: We hosted Grandparents/Special Person’s Day.
December: The Scholastic Book Fair posted record sales thanks to the support of the students and their families and added more than 100 books to
our classroom and school libraries. The Annual Craft Show celebrated its 24th successful year. We kicked-off the holiday season and closed out 2012
with the Holiday Shoppe, a favorite amongst students.
January: The Pancake Breakfast brought families together to enjoy Sunday breakfast at the Newtown Applebee’s and we hosted the Mother/Son
Challenge.
February: Another successful Scholastic Book Fair was held following the Winter Break.
May: The Mother’s Day Flower Sale, PTO Picnic and providing Blue and Gold Day snacks gave us an opportunity to celebrate the Moms and our
students. We also built summer reading lists with the Buy One, Get One event at the Scholastic Book Fair.
June: We closed the PTO calendar with the Teacher Luncheon; our chance to thank the Faculty and Staff for providing an environment that nurtures,
encourages and empowers our children every day.
In addition, there were ongoing activities throughout the year that must be recognized such as Pizza Friday, the Scrip Program, and the Box Tops for
Education program.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the Pen Ryn families and friends that donated their time, talents and resources to each and every one
of these events. Simply put, without their dedication, none of this would have happened. A special thank you is extended to the members of the PTO
that have left us. We appreciate all that they did over the years to contribute to our success – we wish them all the best!
The new school year has just begun and with this beginning we look forward to another successful year of working together.
Gratefully,
Jodi Apice, PTO President, 2013-14
Ways of Giving
Annual Fund
Planned Gifts
The Annual Fund is our most important
fundraising priority, providing funds that
support the current operations of The Pen Ryn
School. Gifts to the Annual Fund ensure
quality instruction, provide support for
classroom materials, technology and library
resources. Support from parents, grandparents,
alumni parents, alumni, faculty, staff and
friends is vital to balance our operating budget
each year and is deeply appreciated.
Planned gifts are designed to help donors enhance their tax planning,
investment objectives and retirement needs while ensuring the future of
The Pen Ryn School. The most familiar way to make a planned gift is
through a charitable bequest in your will. A Charitable Gift Annuity is a
simple and popular way to make a gift to PRS that pays you income for
life.
Stock Gifts
The Pen Ryn School welcomes gifts of appreciated securities. You may
avoid capital gains tax and take a charitable deduction for the full value
of the stock. For instructions, you or your broker may call the
Development Office at 215-547-1800 for information.
Matching Gifts
Many corporations match the charitable gifts of their employees, the
spouses of employees and retired employees. If your employer participates
in a matching gift program, your contributions can be doubled or even
tripled. Donors need to return their completed form with their gift to the
Development Office to initiate the matching gift process.
Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)
Eligible businesses can support The Pen Ryn School through the EITC
program that provides financial assistance to students in need.
Contributing organizations receive tax credits while supporting the
mission of Pen Ryn.
Tributes
Gifts in honor of or in memory of a loved one are special remembrances
of members of the Pen Ryn School community and are deeply
appreciated by the school. An acknowledgement is sent to the family
from the Development Office.
Gifts In Kind
The Pen Ryn School gratefully accepts gifts of books, supplies and
equipment. A tax deduction letter is sent to the individual or
corporation.
7th Annual Golf Outing
The Pen Ryn School’s 7th Annual Golf Outing took place on
May 20, 2013.
We raised over $6,000.00!
