receives personalized and group instruction from Linda.
Friday evening, Linda will measure your bodies and discuss the construction techniques for the pattern,
McCall’s 4709. You will also consider how you want to redesign the look to make it your own.
Saturday will be spent adjusting your pattern to fit your body and accommodate simple
design changes as well as making a mock-up to test the fit of the pattern, finalizing pattern
alterations, creating a new pattern from your mock-up and shopping for good fabric.

PANT OR JEAN FITTING - Hands-on
Tired of trying to get a pair of pants that fit? Begin the class by trying on pant and/or
jean slopers in different sizes to determine what size you are at the hip and waist.
Sandra will then advise you as to what additional pattern alterations you will need for
a flat seat, tummy, high and full hips, sway back, full thighs, etc. You will then cut
out the pants or jeans from scrap fabric (like Vogue Fabrics’
$1.00 per yard Clearance Fabrics) or from Muslin. Fit will be
refined. Alterations will be transferred to create a master pattern. You now have a pant or jean pattern which fits and can be
made again and again. Students should bring a Today’s Fit pant
pattern purchased by your snug hip measurement. Sandra will
bring all sizes of Vogue Pattern #7940 (flat front pant) and Vogue
Pattern #7608 (jean pattern). In order to obtain accurate measurements, avoid wearing clothing that is too tight or it will
distort your figure. All supplies can be pre-purchased on-line
with student discount and picked before the class. Lunch will
be provided by Vogue Fabrics so students can continue to work.
