Design Rationale
After visiting the Neo-Futurarium several times the company's aesthetic was plainly evident to us. Sharon and
Lindsay also did a bang-up job describing elements that were important to the company's identity. After our first
meeting we were armed with most of the tools necessary to build our design comps. With red and light blue being
key Neo-defining colors we opted primarily for complementary neutral shades to define the site's remaining color
palette and insure usability and easy-to-read content.
We also textured many of the site's elements to reflect the theater's physical space as well as the company's edgy
aesthetic. The addition of old masking tape as a design element rounded out the DIY look and feel.
The baby head, the most defining Neo-Futurist visual element was put front and center in our comp to increase
recognition. We used radiating beams of light that we plan to animate slowly to add to the omnipresent godhead
feel of the comp's most engaging element.
Primary navigation elements were also put right up top on every page to increase usability as well. Second level
navigation running down the left hand side of every page will be plainly evident so users should be able to get to
any page on the site within just a couple clicks.
Keeping the Neo-Futurist theme of randomness in mind at all times, we built the comps in such a way as to facilitate
as many randomly loading elements as possible. A pair of dice at the top of each page (another Neo theme) comes
up as a different set of numbers with every page load. Different linkable cast member pictures will load into every
page as well, as will press quotes and press quote icons.
Finally, we know the Neos love their squirrels and in that area we did not disappoint. We custom illustrated a rough
squirrel that while currently is for placement only, we fully intend to round out and animate for the final site launch.
