Greetings Nobles,
T
hank you to everyone who came out in force again this year to make our Circus a
Huge Success. It takes dedicated people like you to make this such a success.
What a positive image it gives the public to look down on the circus floor and in the
novelty areas to see hundreds of Shriners working together to make it happen. You
certainly are being seen in 2015. April is such an exciting month for everyone at Moolah Shrine Center. Spring is here and the cycle of new life is beginning,
much as a new life for Moolah Shrine Center is beginning with bringing in the new members at our Spring Ceremonial. We have
our new Nomads committee working hard at nurturing the new ideas, while keeping with traditions of the Shrine. How Exciting!
If you did not get your candidate in at the ceremonial, we will conduct short forms at the stated meetings. Remember, all Moolah
members have been asked to bring in one new “quality” member this year. I know the challenge will be met, because you care
and want our fraternity to grow so we can do what we do best, helping children. Remember our children are counting on you.
We have a stated meeting in April and all ladies are invited to join us for dinner and entertainment. The ladies will be meeting in
the Oasis for Bunco while we meet in the Ballroom. Afterwards, the Sheiks club will be open to everyone for fellowship. Please
feel free to stop by.
Please remember to rent your space on the parking lot of Moolah for the ”HUGE YARD SALE.” You rent the space from
Moolah and you sell your treasures for a large profit and you keep the proceeds. Please talk this up to your friends and
neighbors. See you there on April 25, 2015 from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.
Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, so please remember to honor your mother or special lady by bringing them to the
MOTHER’S DAY BRUNCH at Moolah on May 10th from 10am – 1pm. Remember Lady Christine still has cookbooks available
so why not pick up a cookbook for your special lady as an outstanding Mother’s Day gift. I am only trying to help you out Nobles.

Moolah will be having a “MAGIC SHOW” on May 16th in the Ballroom. It will be a beer and set-ups event. Bring snacks for
your table. The cost is $20.00 per person or book a table of 8 for $150.00. This Magic show is open to the public and will be the
night before the dedication of our new hospital. Invitations have gone out to the Shrine Temples that serve our hospital to join us
for a good time. Please call Moolah to make your reservations.
May 17th will be the Grand Opening of our New Hospital. Moolah will be hosting a Brunch from 9:00am –Noon in the
ballroom. This is a great time to meet with all our shrine brothers and ladies from all around the county to enjoy a great breakfast
with them before we go to the New Hospital for this Exciting Grand Opening. The cost of this event will be $20.00 per person.

You Can’t Strike Out
with God
W
ell, the baseball season has started and I love the game. GO CARDS! One thing
about playing baseball, or any game, is you must know the rules. The one rule in
baseball that most everyone knows is what happens when the batter gets three strikes.
His turn is over. He’s out. That’s a rule in baseball. Moreover, in many states, if you’re
convicted of three felonies, you go to prison for life. It’s also called the “3-Strike Rule.”
Well, what does all this have to do with God? With God there is NO 3-Strike Rule. That’s
good news. But what’s better news is not only NO 3-Strike Rule, but there is perfect and
total forgiveness for all who call on God for forgiveness. 1 John1:9, “If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
What great news! King David was the perfect example of this verse. We all probably know
the story of David and Bathsheba. The story begins in 2 Samuel Chapter 11. King David
sees Bathsheba, sends for her, and sleeps with her even though he knows she’s married
to Uriah the Hittite. She later tells David, that she’s pregnant. (Adultery - Strike 1) David
has Uriah brought back from the war, and sends him home “to be with his wife,” so Uriah
would later be deceived that the child is his. (Cover it up by Deception – Strike 2) BUT,
Uriah doesn’t go home to sleep with Bathsheba, so King David has Uriah sent back to
the war and ordered him put in the front line of battle where he is killed. (Had Uriah killedStrike 3)
God could have said, “You’re out, David! Out of my favor, and out of My Kingdom.
Forget about getting back in My good graces. You’ve had your three chances. Three
strikes and you’re out!” But God doesn’t do that. Remember 1 John1:9. Re: confessing our
sins. He will forgive. So David, as filthy as he was, could call on God to clean him up. We
may think we can clean ourselves, but ONLY God can really do the cleaning. David indeed
called on God in his Psalm 51; one of many he wrote, but this one is often referred to as
“King David’s Psalm of confession”. It was written following the entire Bathsheba event,
and his being confronted by the Prophet Nathan.
Psalm 51 Vs. 10 & 11: “Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit
within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.” This piece
of Scripture is not only a Psalm, but even more, a prayer, that I pray each one of us will
take before our God after it looks like we just “struck out.” God Bless.
Hospital Van Drivers Needed
The Guides provide free transportation to and from the Shriners Hospital for patients and
families seven days a week. Over 15,000 trips have been made. The Guides have provided
the Hospital Van and the drivers since 1990. Each trip requires two volunteers, a driver and
a rider for legal and safety reasons. Many days we have several runs and on some days
we have only one or none. This service has been provided by the Guides Unit for years and
requires many volunteers. Ideally two people can volunteer to be the Van team the same
days each week. Lately we have had some real challenges with having enough drivers/
riders to maintain this long standing service for our patients and their families. The actual
drivers need to be registered (short process) but anyone can assist as a rider until this is
completed. We now need some volunteers from other Units in the Shrine to help us.

April 15 Stated Meeting
Important Notice – Special Election Meeting
The election of officers for the Moolah Temple will take place at the Stated
Meeting on April 15, 2015. Please be aware of the following section of
Imperial By-Laws pertaining to electioneering.
325.11 Election Regulations
(a) Electioneering. A candidate for an elected office in a Shrine temple may
print, publish and circulate during the year he is seeking the elected office, a
résumé consisting of his educational background, his vocational history, and
his Masonic and Shrine record. Except as provided in the prior sentence,
the printing, publication, circulating or distribution of resolutions, letters,
telegrams, tickets, email or other devices, by a unit, club, Noble, or group
of Nobles, suggesting, recommending opposing or containing the names of
proposed candidates for office in the temple is prohibited.

Ted Schamburg
Ted Schamburg, a very active
member of Moolah, is a third generation
Mason and a second generation
Shriner. Ted was a member of the
Carondelet DeMolay and has been a
member of Craftsmen Lodge, Scottish
Rite and Moolah Temple for 25+ years.
He served five years as President
of the South County Shrine Club. Ted
was Santa Claus at the Club’s annual
Christmas Parties for the patients at
the hospital. He always enjoyed being
around the children, especially when
he gave them their presents. One of
his best memories as a member of South County, was driving his
Alanzar Car (a replica of a 1902 Oldsmobile) in the circus parades
held inside the old Busch Stadium.
During his membership in the Motor Patrol, Ted had a dune
buggy and his beloved red ’77 Corvette. He drove in many
parades representing Moolah Temple.
Ted was proud to be appointed an Ambassador by Al Faulstich,
and serves as secretary for the group. He was appointed an
Aide by Gale Bennington and has served for eleven years. He
presently is a member of the Arab Patrol and also serves as First
Ceremonial Master in the Ceremonial Cast.
Ted and his wife, Carol, have been married for 59 years.
They raised three sons. Their two older boys are graduates of
West Point. Youngest son, Ted Jr., is a graduate of University of
Missouri. Ted and Ted Jr. completed the degrees for Craftsmen
Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shriners together. Ted played two
years of professional baseball, twelve years in the St. Louis
semi-pro league and was inducted into and is a member of the St.
Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame.

Victor F. Dane
Born 12/23/57
57 years of age
Chief Rabban Victor F. Dane passed away suddenly March 13,
2015. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and Lady
Ann Dane on her loss.
Victor F. Dane was created a master mason at Kirkwood Lodge
#484. He joined Moolah April 1, 2004. He joined the Drum Corp
and served as the President in 2008. He was a member of the
Athletic Committee. Victor served as an Aide to the Potentate
in 2008 and appointed an Ambassador in 2010. Victor was a
member of the Moolah Photo Staff, and an Honorary Member of
the Moolah Clowns.
Victor was a member of Arca #12, Order of Quetzalcoatl. In
2013 Victor earned his Clan 140 Order of Hillbilly Degree.
Victor was a retired Kirkwood Firefighter and EMT. He joined
the fire service as a Junior Firefighter with the Cedar Hill Fire
Protection District and became a Senior Firefighter. In June
1979, Victor joined the City of Kirkwood Fire Department and after 31 years of service retired from the department in May 2010.
His love was being a firefighter and EMT worker.
Many people will remember Victor in his role as Santa. When
he retired he grew his own beard and truly become Santa. Victor
enjoyed being Santa and was totally booked during the holidays
helping children smile. In 2014, Victor joined the International
Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santas.
Victor was very active in the Masonic and Shrine philanthropy
always supporting the Shriners Hospitals for Children. In 2010,
Victor was asked to join the Shrine Board of Directors’ advancing
Divan officer line. He was currently serving as Chief Rabban.
Victor would have served as Potentate in 2016.
Victor was a pianist and enjoyed photography and, most recently,
he was the Circus Chairman for the 2015 Circus. He will be
remembered for his music and many pictures that he provided
over the years. He will be deeply missed.

2015 SHRINE CIRCUS UPDATE
adding up to a FANTASTIC group of dedicated workers with the
same goal – “A Successful Circus.” Our Units really came out
to participate in the Grand Entries this year, and really put on a
great show! This was exactly what Illustrious Sir Dave means
when he says, “Let’s Be Seen in 2015”. We had plenty of food
and drink at the tent this year, and that kept people around
longer. Pretty much anytime you went to the tent, there were
people there enjoying themselves. The Saturday night “Family Night Dinner” was outstanding again this year thanks to the
hard work of the SEMO Shrine Club preparing all the great
food and all the Demolay, Job’s Daughters, and Rainbow Girls
that helped keep the tent cleaned-up. Special thanks to Shaun
Reuther and his team that take care of the tent so we have
somewhere to go to relax. I can’t thank everyone individually
that helped because it takes every Unit, Club, Committee, and
most every Shriner, Shrine Affiliate Body, and lots of family
and friends to make our circus a success. I added it up and all
together it takes approximately 500 workers over the 4 days of
circus to pull it off. Of all the Shrine Temples in North America
there is only a hand full of them that could pull off an event the
size of our Circus. YOU should be very proud to be part of our
success. You have heard the old saying that “It Takes a Village”
– Well guess what? Thanks to YOU – the Village showed up!
I know that I speak for Illustrious Sir Dave and the entire divan
when I say THANK YOU for all your help! We simply could not
have done it without YOU!

IRCUS KICK-OFF – We had another great turnout for our

Circus Kick-Off. This year was a little different in that we
held it on the weekend before the parade. This worked out
better for most units because we didn’t have to run from the
parade to the temple. As a result, we had one of the largest
turn-outs in several years. Lots of units hosted a booth, along
with the petting zoo, clowns, plenty of food, and lots of FUN!!!
The place was packed from 2:00 until way after 6:00. Special
thanks go to Lenny Martin and his team for organizing such
a fun filled event and to all the units and affiliate bodies that
through their participation, made the day so much fun for so
many to enjoy. A very special, “Tip of the Fez” to the Clown
Unit. Our Clowns turned out in mass and worked for hours
painting faces and making balloons and hundreds of happy
kids (and parents) went home thinking “Circus! Circus! Circus!”
CIRCUS PARADE –Partnering with the Cottleville Parade
was a GREAT success. Although it is a St. Pat’s Parade, it
was hard to look around and not see something about our
circus. All the Units were out in great force showing everyone
what being a Shriner is all about, while advertising our upcoming Circus. And did I mention we had a fantastic time! The
streets were lined with people and our local Demolay, Job’s
Daughters, and Rainbow Girls handing out thousands and
thousands of our circus coupons. A huge thanks to Wayne
Price and his parade team for putting together such a great
event, to the Demolay, Job’s Daughters and Rainbow teams
that distributed coupons, the Daniel Boone Shrine Club for
hosting the afterglow party, and a very Special Thanks to all
the Units, Clubs and Committees and their Ladies that came
out and joined the Parade. Nothing shows the public what we
are all about better than having all our units out on the street in
a parade. Illustrious Sir Dave’s theme for this year is “Let’s be
Seen in 15.” Mission Accomplished!

Circus! Great FUN! But most of all Great Shriners, Great

Patty‘s Day Parade. It was great to
see everyone and their old cars out
of winter storage. Thanks to all our

April is here. The Potentates Ball “Under
the Big Top,” is over. If you weren’t there
you missed a great time. The Ballroom was
transformed into a red and white striped
circus tent. There was a nice crowd even
though it was snowing heavily. As always,
the food was good, the music great and the
camaraderie over the top.
March 7th was the Circus Kickoff and was
a great time with the kids. This seems to
be the busiest time of the year for us. The
parade was March 14th in Cottleville, followed
with the Circus, March 19th-22nd.
The Swing Dance did novelties again this
year led by Wally Bowman, Lady Gloria and
Beril Gillman. All the red containers were
filled and loaded for the booths by the Swing
Dance group. Our thanks to the Clown unit
for donating materials to reinforce the novelty
display boxes.
We are still dancing every Friday even
though we were busy with the circus. Starting
April 1st Bob Kuban will be playing in the
“Oasis”, the 1st Friday of the month, and we
will be here the remaining Fridays. “NOTICE”- April 10th we will be having a
Fifties themed Sock Hop with the “Backstreet
Cruisers” band. Admission is $10 at the door
or reserve a table of ten for $90. Hope to see
you on the dance floor soon.

was made an Ambassador and served as a Potentates aide.
Victor was President of the Drum Corps in 2008 and then
was appointed to the Divan in 2010. He was also a mainstay
of the Band Aide group where he could just play any tune
you could name on the keyboard or piano. Victor was Chief
Rabban and Circus Chairman in 2015. A masonic service was
held on March 16 directed by Jay Traxel with music by the
Scottish Rite Brass. A Memorial service was held on March
17 with the Reverend Ed Moncada. Eulogies were presented
by Kirkwood Fire Chief Thomas Openlander and Moolah
Potentate David Dieckhaus. Members of the Kirkwood Fire
Department also took part in the service. We will all think
of and remember the good times we had with Santa Vic.

participating in the mini-Circus at the
hospital, as we do each year. We enjoy
playing for this event as part of our service
to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and
the kids.
On a more serious note, the Band is
experiencing membership problems, much
the same as other units and clubs. We are
down to only six Shriners, the rest
being Community Band members. We are
in desperate need of Nobles who have
played in the past if we are to continue as a
functioning part of the Temple. We
ask you to dust off those old instruments
and join us; we promise a fun time with
good people and good music.
The Band is now rehearsing, preparing
for our concert season. Again, there is new
music to be learned for the many concerts
we have in the summer and fall months.
This year the Band is in the process of
replacing many of the numbers we have
played for several years to provide variety
for our players as well as our audiences.
Come see us on Wednesday nights
at 7:30 pm and rekindle the fun you had
when you were in the school band. We are
looking for new members, especially Nobles
who are interested in spreading the word of
what Shriners do for the kids by supporting
the Shriners Hospitals for Children. You
may be a Noble who is looking for a home
where you can make use of your musical
talents! If that is the case, please give me
a call or e-mail and I will answer any
questions you may have.
Remember we are also a community
band, so if your child or grandchild plays an
instrument, he or she is welcome to play in
the Band. We meet Wednesday evenings
at 7:30 pm to practice. Our concerts are
mainly Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm, and
on some Tuesdays.

were busy setting up the Cake Walk for
the circus kickoff. They also handed out

downtown St Louis: Automobile, Home
and Boat Shows. Lets give all Shriners a
big hand for a successful Circus and for
all their time and effort
The next Ambassador’s Lunch will
be on Friday, April 10, in the Oasis at
Moolah Temple. We will have our three
drawings: the 50/50, free dinner and
jackpot. Ambassadors, you are

Well, we made it through another great Moolah Circus! The
Ladies of Nailah Court had a great time again this year with
the novelty carts. It’s so great to see the smiling faces of all
the children and of course the big kids, the adults.
Please join us in congratulating our new 2015-16 Nailah
Court. We have a great group of Ladies and I look forward to
a fabulous year!

Looking for a fun Sunday afternoon activity? Join us for
our CRAZY BOWL fund raiser. The event will be Sunday,
April 12th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Olivette Lanes. Tickets
are $15 per person or $75 for entire lane (6 players). Price
covers 3 hours of bowling and shoe rental. Great fun for the

or any Nailah Lady for tickets. We’ll have raffles, a DJ and
other fun activities. We’ll have our Opportunity to Own which
means you will be able to bid on fun packages from all over.
We are also having our Annual RADA Cutlery fund raiser.

stoneware, we’ve got it! There are even cheesecakes and
pound cakes, dips of all varieties, grilling rubs and more.

you! Sales run through the first week of April.

OW! What a great Circus! Seems like
W
every year it gets a little better. It is
amazing how much our Shrine Club does
to help the circus be successful. We led
the coupon brigade to hand out hundreds of
thousands of child coupons from St. Charles
to O’Fallon. We had our Hockey Shot booth
at the Circus Kickoff, and if I must say so – it
was one of the most popular booths there. We
had a line for most of the day. Next up, we had
a full prairie schooner in the Circus Parade in
Cottleville. It was great to represent Daniel
Boone Shrine Club with a full wagon of riders.
And before you knew it, we were at the circus
holding down a novelty booth. Busy! Busy!
Busy! And through it all, we had a great time
with lots of FUN.
Thanks to everyone that participated and
helped with all the circus activities. When you
are such an instrumental part of making the
circus a success, it makes me proud to
be a member of Daniel Boone Shrine
Club. We work hard, but we also play
hard and always have FUN.
If you are reading this and are not
a member of Daniel Boone, we would
love to have you and your Lady join us
for one of our dinner meetings at JJ’s
in O’Fallon on the last Thursday of the
month. Arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 to
join us for dinner and at 7:30 the guys
have a meeting and the ladies play
bunko. We order from the menu and
have separate checks. They have great
food and reasonable prices.
You will find us to be a friendly group
of Shriner’s and our Ladies and we

If all went well we should have a few new
Nobles from the event. This is a great
organization with many opportunities. One
of those opportunities is the Tiger Shrine
Club. If you have not had a chance to
come out to the new club yet, you don’t
know what you are missing. Things are
really starting to shape up as the members continue to work around the club to
customize it for our use. As we get the
work done and the weather starts to warm
up, look for information on our next event
at the club. If you have not been receiving
your newsletter in the mail then contact our
Secretary to make sure we have your correct information.
The Tiger Shrine club meets at the new
building located at 2315 N Stadium Blvd,
Columbia, MO 65202 on the last Monday
of the month at 6:00pm. Come out for dinner and fellowship and stay for the meeting. The April meeting will be on 4/27/15.
