Gateway to L.A. is a property-based Business Improvement District that features 12.3 million
square feet of hotel, office, parking, retail and restaurant space immediately adjacent to
Los Angeles International Airport. Located on Century Boulevard between Sepulveda and
La Cienega Boulevards, Gateway to L.A. represents the largest concentration of hotel
rooms in the City of Los Angeles and is strategically located to serve travelers visiting the
city’s best-known centers for business, entertainment and leisure. Known for its
architectural pylons that artfully light the night, Gateway to L.A. annually welcomes more
than 60 million visitors to Los Angeles from across the country and around the world. It
is our mission to economically and aesthetically revitalize the properties and businesses
within the boundaries of the district. Additionally, we are working with Green Seal to ensure
a greener production and purchasing chain, from material extraction and manufacturing
through recycling and disposal. This is all part of our vision to create a meaningful and
recognizable “Gateway” to the City of Los Angeles.
Gateway to a Greener L.A.
Clean, green and sensitive to the environment,
Gateway to L.A. makes it easy for meeting
planners to make eco-friendly lodging
choices. Through participation in the Green
Lodging program, a long list of Gateway
hotels—including the Westin, Radisson,
Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott and Crowne Plaza
Hotel-LAX—have increased recycling,
reduced water consumption and dramatically
lowered carbon emissions. These hotels are
currently pursuing Green Seal® certification,
including that they promote environmentally
responsible products and practices.

While for many years individual hotel
shuttles operated independently, Gateway
hotels have banded together to provide a
unified shuttle that has reduced thousands
of vehicle trips to the airport, along with
their resulting carbon emissions.
Additionally, Gateway to L.A.’s Ocean
Express trolleys are running cleaner thanks
to an exhaust filtering device, which
simultaneously reduces particulate matter
at least 85% and NOx by a minimum of
25%. In fact, the county’s Air Pollution
Control District has rated the Ocean
Express as effective “Green Transit”
because through its last year of service,
Ocean Express has eliminated 82,125
vehicle trips and a total of more than
666,000 miles!
At Gateway, we’re passionate about
protecting the environment. In fact, we
were leaders in the green movement long
before it was popular, and we continue to
make our green community a hallmark of
the Gateway to L.A.
