Camp preston hunt
Texarkana, AR
LOCATION:
Located outside Texarkana, Arkansas.
From Texarkana, take Hwy 82 East 4 miles to Lakewood Estates. Turn south on Manor Way,
travel south 2 miles. Turn left on to Tennessee Road and head East 1 mile. Camp Preston
Hunt will be on your right. Look for the big crossed arrows out front. (Approximately 74 miles /
1 hour, 45 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Camp Preston Hunt is the perfect location for a scout unit to get away for the weekend. With
over 250 acres, scouts have the opportunity to get back to nature and enjoy the outdoors. Camp
Preston Hunt has eleven campsites with cabins, as well as numerous areas for tent camping,
swimming pool, large dinning hall, lake with canoes, shower facilities, cub pirate ship, and COPE
course. Camp Preston Hunt is used year round for many district camporees and Webelos
encampments.

From junction I-30 and U.S. 71 at Texarkana, travel 16 miles north on U.S. 71 to Ashdown,
then go nine miles east on Ark. 32 to the park. (Approximately 107 miles / 2 hours, 25
minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Facilities include 116 campsites (113 including Preferred B, Standard B and three tent
sites), picnic sites, a standard pavilion, self-guided nature trail and bicycle trail. A marina
offers souvenirs, gift items, groceries, bait, gas, fishing boats, canoes, pedal boats and

Morro Bay State Park

LOCATION:
The park is located 29 miles southwest of Warren on U.S. 63; or 23 miles northeast of El
Dorado on U.S. 63. (Approximately 125 miles / 2 hours, 45 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Facilities at the park include 20 campsites (Standard A and Standard B), picnic sites, a store,
marina with gas pump, standard pavilion (screened), playground, trail and the Moro Bay Ferry
exhibit.

Bayou Bodcau dam
Bellevue, LA
LOCATION:
Bayou Bodcau Dam is located in Bossier Parish, Louisiana approximately 20 miles northeast
of Shreveport, Louisiana. The upper reaches of the reservoir project are located in Arkansas.
Take I-20 East to exit 33 (LA-157) turn left on LA-157 and proceed 8.9 miles and turn right on
to Bodcau Dam Road to the entrance. (Approximately 22 miles / 29 minutes from Bossier
City)
DESCRIPTION:
5 recreation areas with 27 picnic sites, 20 campsites, and 3 boat ramps.
Wenk’s Landing Recreation Area
Recreation facilities at Wenk’s Landing Recreation Area include a day use area with 11 picnic
sites, a boat launch ramp and a parking area with 12 parking spaces. A vault comfort station
is also available. Primitive camping is permitted in designated areas only.
South Abutment East Recreation Area
Facilities at South Abutment East Recreation Area, located on the upstream side of the dam,
consists of a 12 picnic sites, a boat launching ramp, ample parking and a water-borne comfort
station.
Tom Merrill Recreation Area
The Tom Merrill Recreation Area are located just off Bodcau Dam Road at the dam. The day
use recreation area facilities include a day use picnic shelter and four picnic sites and ample
parking for fishermen. A water-borne comfort station is located nearby in the Tom Merrill
Campground.
Trails
Bayou Bodcau Dam and Reservoir offers over 50 miles of marked trails throughout the project
and a designated horse camp (primitive) located near the dam. The Durden Hills Trail trail
head is located in the Tom Merrill Campground, hikers and mountain bikers alike enjoy this
six-mile trail.
The John Haygood Nature Trail is an accessible ¾ mile paved trail located near the Durden
House Environmental Education Center. Hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, wildflower
gazing or just enjoying nature are popular recreational activities on these trails.

Caney Lakes Beaver Dam Campground
Minden, LA
LOCATION:
From Minden, take Louisiana 159 north to Webster Parish Road 111. Turn left on WPR 111
and go 2 miles. The recreation area entrance is signed; the fee station is just inside the gate.
(Approximately 29 miles / 32 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
The Beaver Dam campground is in the Caney Lakes Recreation Area. Camping (27 units),
swimming, skiing, fishing, picnicking, hiking, boat ramps (4) and boating, drinking water, hot
showers, flush toilets and RV holding tank dump station, grills, and tables Toilets and
showers have nighttime lighting. This facility is open seasonally. with a maximum permitted
stay of 14 days.. There are also group tent sites available. The Upper Caney Lake is 125
acres in size, the swimming beach is in the day-use area. The 7.6 mile Sugar Cane hiking /
biking trail (loop) is also available.

Recreation Fee Permit Envelope
Instructions:
Description
Step 1) On entry into a U.S. Designated Fee Area,
find the fee station and take a pay envelope from
above the pay envelope receiving slot.
Step 2) On the outside of the envelope, fill in the
eleven information boxes. On the outside flap, fill
in the purchase date and the # of days paid.
Step 3) Enclose the proper payment amount, tear
off the extended envelope flap and seal the
envelope.
Step 4) Put the sealed envelope, with the payment
enclosed, into the arrowed "Pay-Here" slot at the
fees station.
Step 5) Place the envelope stub that you removed
from the envelope, inside your vehicle on the dash
with the permit number facing up.
Step 6) On the underside of the envelope flap that
is displayed on your vehicle dash is a suggestions
box that you can utilize to voice your opinion,
whether possitive or negative, to the Forest
Service. The Kisatchie Forest Administration
cannot know about a particular problem without
your help. At the end of your stay, please take the
time to fill it out and place the envelope stub into
the same slot you put your payment in. We really
do want to hear from you.

Clear Lake Park

Range Road, Barksdale AFB, East Reservation. Across the street from FamCamp. Go
through the Bossier gate make the first left and left again at the museum. Follow the road
around the runway to a three way stop and make a left. Continue on Range Rd. till you
see the park sign on the left. (if you enter the housing area you've gone too
far.(Approximately 12 Miles/ 15 Minutes from Bossier City)

NOTE:
Because this is a U.S. military reservation, certain security requirements must be met. All
members of your unit that do not have access to Barksdale AFB, will have to be
sponsored on to the facility for camping. This involves an active duty, retired or reserve
military member taking responsibility for those without access. That individual will need
to provide Security Forces with a list of names and SSN's(5 copies) of those individuals
requiring access, at least one week in advance. You also need to fill out the dram shop
form and the hold harmless agreement form(see below). You can take care of the paper
work, or let outdoor recreation do it. They are willing to turn your campout into an
Outdoor recreation event and do most of the paperwork for you. Contact Darin Bonck for
more information.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION
1. A telephone is located in the box on the front of the bathhouse. On base
emergency numbers are: Ambulance 911, Fire 911
2. There is no emergency room on base. If you need an emergency room, you must
go to one of the local hospitals. If it is an emergency and you need an
ambulance, dial 911.
OVERFLOW INFORMATION
When all the sites in the camp are full, and there are no events planned for Cullen Park, we
have overflow available in the park area.
1hookup is available by pavilion #1, with a 30 amp electrical outlet available on the light pole. 2
hookups are available out of each of the silver boxes located in the park at the base of light poles.
There is a long cord in these boxes that will reach almost out to the street. Please park off the
street on the gravel or concrete.
Try to stay on the gravel as there is sand under the grass in the park area and you could get
stuck.
Barksdale AFB Famcamp Rules
1.
Open campfires will be permitted only under direct adult supervision.
2.
Pets must be kept under control and on a leash at all times. Pets will not be left outdoors
at night or when you are not at your camper. All pet waste must be picked up.
3.
The FamCamp will not be utilized for the storage of any recreational vehicle.
4.
Check out time is 1200 hours. Customers may extend by paying the additional fees at the
FamCamp office.
5.
All weapons to include archery, BB guns, air guns, sling shots, etc. are prohibited in the
FamCamp.
6.
Trees and wildlife in the parks and FamCamp must not be disturbed for any reason. Do
NOT feed the Alligators!

DRAM SHOP THEORY TRAINING FOR EVENTS
Per AFI 34-219/Barksdale Supplement 1, dated 20 Jun 01, if an event approved to be held on base will include
alcohol and/or malt beverage consumption, then a “responsible individual” (RI) must be identified so as to provide
adequate supervision during the period of use and consumption. Alcohol must be served by an individual(s) who
has documented training in the Dram Shop Theory.
The Dram Shop Theory is a legal theory of liability, created either by statute or court decision, which imposes upon
individuals who serve alcoholic beverages the duty to refuse additional alcoholic beverages to a guest who reaches
or appears to be reaching the point of intoxication. If alcoholic beverages are provided to such a guest and that
guest departs the event and causes harm to himself or to others, the RI for the event can be held liable for damages.
Another guest who obtains a drink for an already intoxicated person can also be held liable. Everyone must comply
with the intent of the Dram Shop Theory, not only to prevent claim again the Air Force and themselves, but more
importantly, to prevent an unnecessary injury or a loss of life.
All guests consuming alcoholic beverages must be at least 21 years of age, consistent with local law. If in doubt
as to the correct age of a guest, the RI for the event must ensure the guest’s age is verified with a photo
identification card such as a military identification card, a driver’s license, or a passport.
Food must be served at all times that alcoholic beverages are served.
The RI for the event must ensure that safeguards are established so that guests do not drive while intoxicated or
nearing intoxication. If a guest refuses assistance in departing the event safely and insists on attempting to drive,
then the Security Forces Squadron will be contacted immediately for assistance.

beverages to persons who appear to be nearing intoxication and not in complete control of their faculties.

Cypress Black bayou park

LOCATION:
Benton, LA. Take Airline Drive north, then turn right on Linton Road. Follow the signs to the
Park Entrance. (Approximately 14 miles / 20 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Three small, rustic cabins are available for campers. They all contain kitchen areas, baths, a/c
and heat. Each of the cabins will accommodate up to four persons. Three cottages are also
available, accommodating up to six persons each. 73 sites for R/V campers with full hook-ups
carefully blended into a lush wooded setting. The camp area has two large bath houses with
clean showers and bathroom facilities Black Bayou also sports a large primitive camping area.
A restroom and water spigot are conveniently located nearby. A small zoo and nature center
are also available.

LOCATION:
From Shreveport take I-49 South to the Stonewall exit. Go right and follow the two-lane road
for approximately 4 miles to Hwy. 171. At Hwy. 171 go left for approximately 5 miles to the
entrance of the camp on the right. Take the dirt road into camp and check in at the Ranger's
House on the left. (Approximately 22 miles / 27 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
If you are looking for a great place to spend the weekend, look no further than Garland Scout
Reservation. Located in Stonewall Louisiana, this beautiful 1600 acre camp has been serving
the youth of Northwest Louisiana for the last 30 years.

GUIDE FOR THE USE OF GARLAND SCOUT RANCH
Please fill out a “camp use permit” and turn it in to the Norwella Council Office at least 2
weeks prior to the activity.
1. CHECK IN WITH THE CAMP RANGER. It’s important.
2. Leave no fires unattended.
3. No drinking of alcoholic beverages while on Garland Scout Ranch. No firearms such as
pistols, rifles, or shotguns shall be allowed.
4. Build fires only in areas where fires have previously been built.
5. Keep fires small – especially during periods of dry weather
6. Don’t bury firewood. Put it out completely and stack for the next campers.
7. Camp only in designated campsites, NOT in or around shelters.
8. Do not leave your vehicles in the campsite after unloading. One vehicle may remain for
emergencies. All other vehicles must park in the parking lot or designated areas.
9. All campsites will be inspected prior to your departure.
10.Camp Ranger will pick up your garbage during campsite inspection.
11.Do not throw trash on roads, trails, campsites, or around lakes.
12.Do not chop on any live trees. If you need poles, see the Camp Ranger.
13.Be very careful in digging holes. In some areas of the ranch, there are both WATER
and POWER lines underground. Check with the Ranger prior to digging.
14.Your campsite is your home for the weekend. You do not want people wandering
through your campsite uninvited. Don’t wander through the campsites of others.
15.Children are not allowed in the adult showers.This is a BSA youth protection rule that
must be enforced.
16.NOTHING is to leave the maintenance area unless it’s checked out by the Camp
Ranger or Camp Master. Items will be signed for in either case. ALL items will be
accounted for prior to your departure from camp. NO TOOLS will be used without
express permission of the Camp Ranger, then only after proper procedures and safety
check lists have been explained in detail.
17.Only camp vehicles will be permitted inside maintenance area unless loading or
unloading heavy material or equipment. There is a parking area on each side of the
maintenance area entrance gates.
18.No riders in the back of pick-up truck trucks or any type of vehicle without seat belts.
See the “Guide for Safe Scouting” for details.
19.Be in your campsite after 10:30 p.m. and hold the noise down. There may be those
who are trying to sleep.
20.NO raiding of campsites or destruction of camp property.
21.ALL cars and trucks should observe the 15 mph speed limit, PLEASE.
22.CHECK OUT. Do not leave without approval of the Camp Ranger.
Lake Bistineau State Park
Doyline, LA
LOCATION:
Southeast of Shreveport just off LA 163 south of Doyline. From I-20 at Minden take LA 7
south to Sibley, LA 164 west to Doyline, and LA 163 south to the park. (Approximately 21
miles / 27 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Area 1, or the main section of the park, is accessed from LA 163. Numerous sites
equipped with tables, grills, and nearby restrooms. Several picnic pavilions are also
available for larger groups. A park naturalist is on hand to take you along one of the park's
nature trails.
A play area, a boat ramp and launch. Rental boats that are also available. Area 1 also
has provisions for those who want to spend the night. Fourteen vacation cabins,

For the camper, there are 67 improved campsites with water and electricity, nearby
restrooms, showers, and a dump station. The park includes a rally campground for groups.
Groups may also enjoy the group camp in Area 1 which provides sleeping quarters for
up to 160 people in 20 cabins, a fully equipped kitchen, and a swimming pool. While Area
1 is memorable for its natural tranquility, Area 2 is notable for its lively recreation
facilities.
Although Area 2 is connected to the main part of the park by the lake, to reach Area 2 by
car you will return to the highway by going east off LA 163, along Webster Parish Road
178, to the entrance.
Area 2 includes a group camp, playgrounds, a large picnic area with several pavilions, a
swimming pool, a baseball field, and a boat launch.

DESCRIPTION:
One of the Louisiana Purchase Council Scout Reservations is located in Union Parish,
Louisiana and consists of approximately 1142 acres of land. It is owned and operated by the
Louisiana Purchase Council, Inc., Boy Scouts of America of Monroe, Louisiana.
The Scout Reservation is divided into three different areas - Camp T. L. James, Cub World,
and the training center. These areas share many facilities by design, but they are distinctively
different in program use. The main camp was named after the first Council President, Mr.
Thomas L. James.
Facilities at Camp T.L. James include a central dining hall with a capacity of 200, ten
individual campsites with latrines, one lake for boating & swimming, one lake for fishing, a
trading post, quartermaster building, a central shower house, a high-ropes course, modern
rifle, archery, & shotgun ranges, and an administrative center / small conference facility.
Facilities at Cub World include 5 connected tree cabins, one with solar power. The tree cabins
can house up to 20 people total. Running water is available at Cub World and there are three
shower/bathhouses to support outdoor camping. A new "Rain Forest" pavilion has recently
been constructed to support Cub Scout program activities.
The Training Center is the newest camping area, and it offers 10 campsites with running
water, picnic tables, tent platforms, 2 large hot-water shower houses with flush toilets and
electricity, an indoor training room, and a large pavilion with tables and electric lights.
It boasts of both broad leaf and pine woodlands. Wildlife abounds with populations of deer,
squirrel, beaver, turkey, and many species of birds including hawks and owls.
Although facilities are modern and up-to-date, the natural beauty of the reservation has been
maintained by careful planning on the part of the Council Camping Committee and of the
Council Conservation Committee.

Atlanta State Park is 1475 acres on Lake Wright Patman Dam in Cass County, a few miles
southwest of Texarkana. To reach the park, which is 11 miles northwest of Atlanta, exit from
US Highway 59 onto FM 96, and go west 9 miles to FM 1154, then north 2 miles to Park Road
42 entrance, (FM 1154 dead ends at the park). (Approximately 54 miles / 1 hour, 25 minutes

water and electricity; and pull-through and back-in campsites with water, electricity, and

grill. There is group picnic pavilion with tables under shelter and tables adjacent, with grill,
electricity, water, and restrooms nearby (accommodates 100); two playgrounds with swings
and slides; sand volleyball courts; basketball court; horseshoe pits; 3.8 miles of hiking trails;
1.2 miles of nature/interpretive trails; amphitheater with the capacity of 50; a trailer dump
station; concrete launching ramps; and a covered fish-cleaning shelter.

Activities enjoyed include camping, hiking, swimming, picnicking, nature study, fishing, and
boating. There are canoe rentals in the park, Jon boat with motor rentals (outside the park
about 6 miles away), and pontoon boat tours daily except Wednesday. Nearby attractions
include Starr Family State Historic Site in Marshall; and nearby, Karnack is the childhood
home of Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson and the Old City of Jefferson, famous as the commercial
center of northeast Texas during the first half of the 19th century. Boat tours are offered by a

From I-20 west. Take the Cedar Ridge exit and turn right. Turn left on Red Bird Lane and go

DESCRIPTION:
Camp Wisdom is the home to Boy Scout Camp Billy Sowell and Cub World (old west fort,
pirate ship, castle etc.). The camp is located 11 miles from downtown Dallas. With 371 acres
there is plenty of room for a great camping experience close to Dallas. As one of the oldest
camps in Texas, this camp is filled with lots of camping history. Many Dallas natives spent a
week of their summer at Camp Wisdom. Because of its location, the Camp is ideal to host to
many district and council events.
Boy Scout Camp Billy Sowell, located on the western half of Camp Wisdom, includes 28
weekend sites for troop camping, a shooting sports area which includes archery, rifle, and a
trap range for shotgun. The camp also features a dining hall, the Sowell Center headquarters
building, a health lodge and the Jack Harbin Scouting Memorabilia Museum. There are also
four program lodges and three camporee fields.
Camp Wisdom's swimming pool is Olympic sized and can provide for a variety of aquatics
programs.
The Jim Ince Outdoor Amphitheater can seat over 700 people. This amphitheater provides a
magical setting for a variety of camp programs.

Dinosaur Valley State Park, located just northwest of Glen Rose in Somervell County, is a
1524.72-acre, scenic park set astride the Paluxy River. The park is located 4 miles west of
Glen Rose. Take US Highway 67 to FM 205 for 4 miles to Park Road 59; then go one mile to
the headquarters. (Approximately 256 miles / 4 hours, 30 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Dinosaur Valley State Park contains some of the best preserved dinosaur tracks in the world.
The dinosaur tracks are located in the riverbed, so please call ahead to check on river
conditions. There are two fiberglass models; a 70-foot Apatosaurus and a 45-foot
Tyrannosaurus Rex. They were built, under commission of the Sinclair Oil Company, New
York World's Fair Dinosaur Exhibit of 1964 - 1965. Other activities include camping,
picnicking, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding in a separate 100-acre area (no horses
furnished), river swimming and fishing, and wildlife observation. Facilities include campsites
with water and electricity; restrooms with showers; and walk-in water sites, which have tables,
grills, and water in area. Day use only horseback riding is allowed in the South Primitive Area
(users must provide their own horses, no overnight equestrian facilities). Backpack campsites
are from 1 to 5.5 miles in to the North Primitive area; no restrooms in the area; water is
available at the trail head. There are 7 miles of trails for hiking and backpacking and 12 for
mountain biking. The park also has a day-use picnic area; a group picnic pavilion; a trailer
dump station; an outdoor amphitheater; an interpretive center, and a Texas State Park Store
that sells dinosaur souvenirs such as caps, mugs, books, toys, etc. Cold drinks and snacks
are also available.

The park is 6 miles northeast of Fairfield off FM 2570 on FM 3285 adjacent to Fairfield Lake.
90 miles south of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, 150 miles north of the Houston area, and 60
miles east of Waco. The park is located just a few miles from Interstate 45, northeast of the
city of Fairfield, TX (Approximately 188 miles / 3 hours 45 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
There are campsites with water (most on the lakefront); campsites with water and electricity; a
hike-in primitive camping area (at the end of a 6-mile, round-trip hiking trail); picnicking; an
overflow camping area; restrooms with and without showers; a lighted fishing pier; a
fishcleaning shelter; a fish-cleaning table; boat ramps; a trailer dump station; playgrounds; a
group dining hall for day-use only; and an amphitheater.
A six-mile trail has connected an older 9-mile trail to provide a continuous 15 miles of
trailways that provide multi-use (hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian) access from one end
of the park to the other. Much of the trail is adjacent to the 2400-acre Fairfield Lake. There is
also a 2-mile nature trail and 1 mile of bird watching trail.
Firewood, ice and park-related merchandise can be purchased at the Texas State Park Store.

Nestled in the Piney Woods of East Texas, George W. Pirtle Scout Reservation is located on
the banks of Lake Murval near Gary, Tx and Southwest of Carthage, Tx. (Approximately 58

Covering more than 600 thickly wooded acres, Camp Pirtle is nestled in the tall pines
surrounding Lake Murvaul and is one of the best equipped reservations in the country. Camp
Pirtle has facilities for a wide range of activities from a 35' "Mountain" and a 60' climbing wall
to a Waterfront , A lovely outdoor Chapel, Swimming Pool and newly refurbished Council
Ring. A visit to the piney woods while walking the Silver Circle Trail will provide the
opportunity to view the varied flora and fauna found in the area. GWP also has a campsite

4 miles west of Hawkins on Highway 80, 1 mile north on CR 3440 OR I-20: take exit 562 north
on Highway 14 to Highway 80 at Hawkins. (Approximately 98 miles / 1 hour, 55 minutes from
Bossier City)

Wheeled-camper sites w/electric & water 41; w/electric, water & sewage 4; cabins w/AC 2;
prepared tent sites 8; primitive camping area. Dump station, flush toilets, showers, pavilion,
tables, grills. Swimming-lake, bathhouse, fishing, boat ramp (motorboats OK), boat & RV
storage facility, fishing pier, ice, playground, volleyball, horseshoes, nature trail, scenic views.

LAKE LIVINGston STATE PARK
Livingston, TX
LOCATION:
The park is located 1 mile south of Livingston on US Highway 59, 4 miles west on FM 1988,
1/2 mile north on FM 3126 to Park Road 65, which is 75 miles north of Houston.
(Approximately 195 miles / 4 hours, 5 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
The park offers camping; picnicking; swimming pool; mountain biking; nature study; fishing
(crappie, perch, catfish, and bass); and boating; Day use equestrian is now available: Visitors
use the horses provided by Lake Livingston stables and are not allowed to bring their own
horses.

Martin Creek Lake State Park
Tatum, TX
LOCATION:
Martin Creek Lake State Park, which consists of 286.9 acres, is located in Rusk County,
southeast of Longview. The park is located 20 miles southeast of Longview. Travel 3.5 miles
southwest of Tatum on State Highway 43, then turn south on County Road 2183.
(Approximately 56 miles / 1 hour from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Facilities include restrooms with showers; hike-in primitive campsites with no drinking water
available (one of the primitive areas is located on an island accessed via a charming wooden
bridge); campsites with water and electricity (all have fire rings and picnic tables); screened
shelters; 2 cottages (converted screened shelters which have been air-conditioned and
heated, have water, electricity and bunk beds - capacity 5; a group picnic pavilion; a 1.5-mile
hiking trail; a 6-mile mountain bike trail; a 4-lane concrete boat ramp; a trailer dump station; a
playground; and a lighted fishing pier. Two cabins accommodate 4; no additional persons
authorized. They have central air and heat, kitchen with 4-burner stove and oven, refrigerator,
coffee maker, screened back porch, and outdoor smoker/cooker. There are no fireplaces or
wood-burning stoves. No bath or bed linens are provided.

Mission Tejas State Park

LOCATION:
The park is located 21 miles northeast of Crockett and 12 miles west of Alto on State Highway
21. The entrance to the park is in Weches, where Park Road 44 intersects with State Highway
21 (Approximately 173 miles/ 3 hours 25 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Mission Tejas State Park is a 363.5-acre park in Houston County. Facilities include
commemorative representation of Mission San Francisco de los Tejas; the restored Rice
Family Log Home; picnic sites; campsites with water; campsites with water and electricity;
campsites with water, electricity, and sewer; group picnic areas; a group picnic pavilion;
restrooms with and without showers; a group camping area; an amphitheater; a trailer dump
station; 3 1/2 miles of hiking trails; a playground; and a nature pond (approximately 1 acre in
size). Winter rates are available Open 7 days a week year-round. Office Hours: 8 a.m. to 5
p.m., 365 days a year.

Rusk Unit: located 3 miles west of Rusk, adjacent to the Texas State Railroad Rusk Depot off
US Highway 84. (Approximately 123 miles / 2 hours 30 minutes from Bossier City)
Palestine Unit: located 3 miles east of Palestine on US Highway 84, adjacent to the Texas
State Railroad State Park Palestine depot. (Approximately 135 miles / 2 hours 50 minutes
from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Rusk Unit: Facilities include restrooms with showers; picnic sites; campsites with water and
electricity; campsites with water, electricity, and sewer; an open-air, gazebo-style pavilion with
a fireplace, and a dining area; a screened group dining hall complete with a kitchen;
playgrounds; a fishing pier; a trailer dump station; old Rusk depot building; tennis courts; a 15acre lake; and a .25-mile nature trail. Texas State Park Store.
Palestine Unit: Facilities include restrooms (no showers); picnic sites; campsites with water;
a trailer dump station; and two open-air group picnic pavilions with picnic tables, cooking

The park is located onFM 316. From US Highway 175 at Eustace, go right (north) on FM 316
for 3.5 miles. (Approximately 152 miles / 2 hours, 45 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
The facilities available are campsites with water and electricity; water only campsites;
primitive campsites (minimum 1/2 mile hike); an overflow camping area; a covered group
pavilion; lighted fishing piers; fish-cleaning shelters; rearing/trout ponds; boat ramps; courtesy
docks; picnic sites; and a playground.

LOCATION:
Tyler State Park is located 2 miles north of Interstate 20 on FM 14 north of Tyler on Park
Road 16. (Approximately 97 miles / 1 hour 35 minutes from Bossier City)
DESCRIPTION:
Facilities include restrooms with and without showers; picnic sites; 2 group picnic areas
without shelters; 1 group picnic pavilion; campsites with water; campsites with water and
electricity (pull-through and back-in); screened shelters; and a group camp with 6 screened
shelters for overnight use and a dining hall with a full kitchen for day-use only; shelters and
dining hall can be rented together or separately. Other facilities include a trailer rally area (30
water and electric sites with a group picnic pavilion); trailer dump stations; a group dining hall;
a 2.5-mile hiking trail; an 13-mile mountain bike trail; a .75-mile nature trail; an amphitheater
on the lake shore; a seasonal grocery store that sells souvenirs and fishing supplies and rents
canoes, paddle boats, kayaks, and fishing boats; and a concrete launching ramp with a
courtesy dock. Premium sites are available. Open: 7 days a week year-round; 2 p.m.
