Chairman’s Comments

The weather this winter has been
quite different from what was predicted. It was suppose to be dry, but has
turned into one of the wettest winters
in history in the LA area. It has also been rather
cool, running ten to twenty degrees below normal.
Spring is here again and the rain has stopped but it
hasn’t warmed up much.
The chapter started the year, the first week of
January, with a Road Tour to Laughlin. This was a
good way to put the holidays behind and start the
new year refreshed. It was an easy going tour to
enjoy time with fellow Corvette owners away from
the hustle and bustle. The group started out on a
Wednesday so there would be fewer people and
favorable hotel rates. The trip included a drive
down to Lake Havasu City for lunch and to take in
the sites. Another Corvette event started on Friday, so some stayed for the weekend to take part
in the activities. Everyone had an enjoyable time,
so plan on joining in next year.
On February 5th the chapter conducted a
Judging School/Technical Session at GM Down Under in Costa Mesa. Duke Williams gave a very informative presentation on some of the ignition
points that are currently available. The points he
had been testing were auctioned off to those present when he finished. The judging school was centered on the C3 models. It was decided to return to
a method used when the chapter first started training judges, almost thirty years ago.
Inexperienced judges were teamed with an experienced
judge to actually judge a section of a C3. Later,
everyone changed to a different section to broaden
their experience. This worked out very well, so
plans have been made to conduct additional
schools. The next school will use the C4 models.
The C4s are more difficult to judge and most members are reluctant to try. If you are not an expert
on C4s, this will be the school for you.
March 12th was the date for the annual Spring
Judged Meet, which returned to Corvette Mike’s in
Anaheim for the second year. The lot was completely filled with judged cars, Sportsman, and display cars. The overflow had to park on the street
next to Mike’s. Mike’s showroom was filled with Corvettes providing examples of many years. Two examples of 1963 ZO6s were on display so everyone
could see how they differ from regular production.
Jim Gessner was available to answer questions
about the 63s. The weather cooperated for the day
making it a great show overall.
The Cruise to the Sun was held on April 2nd
this year. Carrow’s in Corona was the meeting lo-

cation again. It’s a good place for everyone to grab
some coffee, check in and get ready for the drive.
The drive to Palm Springs was uneventfull, although
traffic was a bit heavy. The Un-Car Show took
place on the grass at the Stein Mart shopping center on South Palm Canyon Drive. We were joined
by The Victor Valley Vettes and some local cars to
completely fill the grass area. As soon as Stein
Mart opened, many of the group found some real
bargains shopping. In the afternoon, we went to
Tom Pinard’s home for a barbeque. In the evening
some of the group went to the Spa Resort Casino
for the Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association Cruise
Night. It was a nice day filled with slow paced activities.
I would like to thank everyone that attended
these events for participating and especially everyone who helped in some way to make the events a
success. The chapter has been notified that all the
requirements necessary to be a Top Flight Chapter
for 2010 have been completed. We will receive the
award at the National Convention membership
meeting.
A number of events have been planned for
the rest of the year. Check the calendar and the
information in this issue. The next judging school
will be May 15. A tour of the Nethercutt Collection
has been arranged for May 21. The collection includes things besides automobiles so check the flyer.
Reminder: The chapter has made arrangements with Crusin’ for a Cure to preregister chapter
members again this year. The registration form is
in this issue and must be received by July 1st .
Take note that the chapter will contribute $10 of
the fee. The registration fees for Crusin’ for a Cure
go directly to City of Hope Cancer Foundation. This
year’s Cruise will be on September 24 at the Orange County Fair & Event Center.
NCRS has been updating the national data
base for membership and judging along with the
web site. This has resulted in benefits for the
members and the chapters. Members can now
monitor their judging points and Sportsman points
on the web site. Chapter judging chairman can now
enter judging results directly into the data base.
Chapter membership chairman can check to see if a
chapter member is a member of National. This feature has affected a few members that have continued chapter membership after their National membership has expired. The National Bylaws state
that a person must be a national member before they can become and continue as a member of a chapter. Registration for the National
Convention, some Regionals and some Chapter
events can also be done online from the National
web site.

Region IX Representative Report

The end of March I traveled to Novi, MI (the location of the NCRS National Convention) for an NCRS Board of Directors Meeting. The minutes for this meeting and the
Foundation Board of Directors Meeting follow this report.
Darold Shirwo gave an update on the 2012 NCRS National Convention to the Board of Directors
and presented a change of schedule in order to have a 4th of July celebration. I made a motion to
this effect at the Old Business portion of the Meeting. The motion passed if we can accomplish
some room rescheduling.
The weather was clear most of the time; however it was below freezing all of the time. We stayed
at the Crowne Plaza which is one of the Host hotels. The four Convention Hotels are within a mile
radius and there are a number of good restaurants and shopping malls nearby.
The “Suburban Collection Showplace” is the location for registration, Judging, Judge’s meals and
the Awards Banquet. We will only be using a portion this huge facility and it has a large parking
lot. It is about 3 miles from the host hotels.
I’m on the publications Committee and we have just finished updating the “NCRS Publications Policies and Procedures Manual”. I also have had a chance to review
all of the “Corvette Restorer” prior to publication.
We have a California Regional in Sacramento, CA on October 6 –
8, 2011 and an Arizona Regional in Tucson, March 8 – 10, 2012.
These regionals should assist any of you that are preparing your
Corvette for the 2012 National Convention in San Diego Enjoy
the hobby, participate in Chapter events.
NCRS Firefox Clubstore
A new feature that has been added to the NCRS Firefox Clubstore is to add
our chapter name below the NCRS logo on any article of clothing. It was
kept simple, so the SCC chapter logo is not a possibility.
You can view this by going to the store and selecting an article of clothing. There is a "view sample" selection which will show the logo with the New England Chapter name. To select your chapter select the
"club name" and then you will get a list of chapters to choose from. NCRS hopes this gives everyone another option for our chapter members.
The Southern California Chapter represents members of the National Corvette Restorer’s Society from Central
California through the Mexican border. It was formed in 1981 and we currently have over 200 members. Any

SCC Cruise to the Sun
What a day! It just doesn’t get any better than fast cars, great friends, shopping, gambling, and of course great
food. The first stop, Corona, to meet up with other chapter members. Leaving on time eight vettes continue to the
7th Annual Un-Car Show downtown Palm Springs. The fun begins with the chapter parking on the grass with additional members meeting us at the show. Next it was a foot race to Stinemart for the annual sale. With coupons in
hand I still spend too much money, and the only saving grace was seeing others members leaving with more. Ed,
Barb, Don, and Carol set up the membership booth to recruit new members. With so much going on I failed to ask
how they did.
About 1:00 we were off again to Chapter member Tom Pinard’s house for his annual BBQ. You can’t find better
hosts than the Pinards. Shrimp, hamburgers, hotdogs, side-dishes, and ending up with desert. All we can say is a
hardy THANK YOU!
Leaving the Pinard’s we ventured over to the SPA Resort for the monthly car show. We received VIP treatment from
Ross who heads up this event. After parking our cars we went into the Resort and within a very short time money
was made by a few members. I believe I did see Carol doing a little shopping in the resort while Don was out at a
vendor trying to save some money on his car insurance.
As the sun was setting we started west and had a great drive home after a day of sharing with friends, full stomachs, and some, extra money in their pockets. Did I mention we enjoyed driving ours cars instead of looking at
them in the garage?
Look forward to seeing you next year on the cruise.

SCC Judging School
& Tech Session
On February 5 down at GM Down Under in Costa Mesa, a large group of SCC
members participated in a Judging School on C3 Exterior, Chassis, and Mechanical judging
techniques and tips.
They were also treated to a Tech Session by Duke Williams on the ins and outs, open and
closings of mechanical breaker points. A auction for the points followed the lecture. An article on this subject can be found in the following pages of this Bonding Strip.
If you haven’t yet participated in Flight Judging these schools are the best way to get your
feet wet and prepare for the next meet as a judge. Judging volunteers are always welcomed
and needed at each meet. The next school is coming soon, also at GM Down Under on May 15.

On Saturday March 12tn the SCC held it’s annual NCRS Spring judging meet at Corvette Mike’s
in Anaheim. Twelve members cars were presented for judging. Many judges that had just
sharpened their skills, or obtained new skills at the recent judging school picked up their clip
boards and surrounded the candidates. There were also a dozen Sportsman cars presented
and a couple of Display cars to attract the interest of attendees.
The Spring and Fall SCC/NCRS judged meets are the coalescence of the ongoing Chapters efforts and all the hard work of the members. If you haven’t participated with your Corvette,
judged, or just as spectator, please mark the Fall meet on your calendar for August and prepare to be there. There are judging schools planned between now and then to get you ready!
Don’t forget that the SCC is hosting the National meet next year. And it will be here Quick!
The next two Chapters meets are the run up to this big meet which is sure to be a spectacular
event!

There are a few cars that have transcended the level of rare and desirable, and become legends. For Corvette
fans, and movie fans a new award winning documentary centers on one of these legendary cars. The movie
will have it’s world premier next week in Carlisle PA. The Quest will then be available on DVD and cable. Here
is a press release on this new film that every Corvette fan will want to see:
Last year's 24 Hours of Le Mans marked the 50th anniversary of Corvette's first participation in the world's
most celebrated sports car race. Fifty years after Briggs Cunningham's No. 3 Corvette finished first in the large displacement GT category, the restored race car was reunited with
one of its legendary drivers, John Fitch, at the fabled French
circuit. Now the remarkable story of this milestone Corvette's
return to Le Mans is told in a new documentary film, "The
Quest."
The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation (CMCF) will premiere
this moving documentary created by award-winning filmmaker Michael Brown on Friday, May 6, at the Carlisle Theatre in
Carlisle, Pa. Tickets for the premiere are available at
www.QuestDocumentary.com, and all proceeds will benefit
the Foundation "The Premiere of 'The Quest' is going to be a
unique, must-attend event," said Lance Miller, co-owner of
Carlisle Events. "The film is about so much more than cars. I
think everyone, in their own way, will find an emotional connection to this story."
The film recounts how the No. 3 Corvette disappeared into obscurity after winning its class at Le Mans. It follows the quest of
renowned Corvette enthusiast Chip Miller to find, restore, and
ultimately return this milestone automobile to France to celebrate the golden anniversary of its historic victory. Following
Miller's untimely death in 2004, his dream of returning the No.
3 Cunningham Corvette to Le Mans lived on through his son
Lance and the Miller family.
Wearing traditional American white and blue racing colors, the
immaculately restored Corvette participated in a parade through
downtown Le Mans and led 50 Corvettes on a ceremonial lap of
the track before the start of the 24-hour race with Fitch at the
wheel. Fitch, now 93 years old, and the historic Corvette will
attend the premiere to help the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation raise awareness of Amyloidosis, a rare and incurable plasma cell disorder that claimed the life of Chip Miller.
"People come to a race track to see the drivers in action," said Fitch, "but when I took the wheel of the No. 3
Corvette with Lance at my side, it was I who became the spectator. At parade lap speed, I could observe not
only the thousands of fans who cheered us on, but also the emotions of my young passenger. His efforts to
fulfill the dream of his father and best friend had paid off. It was a very special and satisfying experience."
"When you look at the Corvettes that raced
at Le Mans 50 years ago, it's impossible not
to be impressed by the passion, the immense
courage, and the physical stamina that was
required to race for 24 hours in those vehicles," said Corvette Racing program manager
Doug Fehan. "It was an astounding feat, and
the men who drove them have my respect."

1961/62 CORVETTE PCV
(RPO 242 Positive Crankcase Ventilation)

Yes - Chevrolet made early Corvettes with a PCV valve.
For those of you that do not know my car it is an original 1961 Corvette with 245 hp and powerglide and
has made the complete circuit from Top flight to Bowtie and I have driven the heck out of the car.
My car came from Harry Mann
with several interesting options - it
had the California Special which was
the addition of a third taillight on
each side and had wind wings on the
door posts.
Many years ago when I took my
original 1961 Corvette back east for
judging I had an interesting experience when the mechanical team
took over; they expected to see a
road draft tube and when there was
none it freaked them out.
Fortunately Dennis Clark the
team leader for (1961/62) knew
about the PCV valve setup and put
them straight; it had some of the
1961/62 judges scratching their
heads. The following is an overview
of that system which remains intact
on my car.
The system was specified by
Chevrolet as RPO 242 Special Crankcase Ventilation Equipment for the
1961 Corvette . The Positive Crankcase Ventilation system withdraws
blow-by gases from the crankcase
and returns them with the fresh air
and fuel mixture in the cylinders.
1961 RPO 242 Positive Crankcase Ventilation System
This RPO was required by the
first automotive emissions control technology in the nation which was mandated by the California Motor
Vehicle State Bureau of Air Sanitation (now the California Air Resources Board) to control hydrocarbon
crankcase emissions.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation requirement of 1961 went into effect on domestic passenger vehicles
for sale in California in 1963, however Chevrolet chose to start in 1961.

On April 3rd of 1961
(approximately serial number
8000) an E.C.R. was written to
move the Crankcase Vent Valve
from the Breather Vent side of
the hose to the to the Carburetor/Fuel Injector side of the hose.
Figure 1 and 2 show the assembly of the PCV System for all engine configurations.
Figure 3 shows the Crankcase Vent
valve and a number of Crankcase
breather adaptors which replaced
the road draft tube.
Figure 4 is the original caution
tag attached to the rear view mirror during assembly and delivered to the dealer.

NAPA Echlin Contact Sets (Ignition Points)

For many years confusion has reigned over the various contact sets sold by NAPA under the Echlin brand. There are
six Echlin contact sets applicable to Delco single-point distributors not including the "uniset" that combines the points
and condenser in a single assembly. NAPA also sells a price leader line called Mileage Plus and a couple of other contact sets in different brands.

NAPA jobber and ’65 L-76 owner Tim Schuetz wanted to get to the bottom of this issue, so Tim sent me four of the
six part numbers for analysis in boxes marked CS86, CS89, CS786P, and CS7860. Standard Motor Products (SMP)
manufactures all six, and some are available in other brands such as BWD, Delco, Niehoff, and Standard. Delco has
not manufactured contact sets for nearly 20 years. They just purchase the SMP products (as do the other brands),
package them in Delco boxes, and distribute them through their own marketing channels. All brands have online
catalogs with cross reference listings, but since NAPA is nationwide and most members have a NAPA store conveniently located, you can now order a NAPA Echlin contact set with known specifications and features to meet your specific needs.
Armed with a three-pound spring scale, micrometer, caliper, multimeter, and plain screwdriver to partially disassemble the breaker arm leaf springs for measurement, I offer the following measurements and visual observations. A
summary of the measured and NAPA Web site data follows the discussion. All have screw type terminals rather than
the breaker arm spring clip terminal like the old Delco D106P (1931988), a design I never cared for, but the old
Delco D106PS (1966289) has a screw terminal. While most members were watching the NFC Championship Game, I
queued up a couple of Bach CDs and spent the next few hours playing with the contact sets. I had a pleasant afternoon and posted the results on the Technical Discussion Board that evening, January 23.
CS86: This contact set (Figure 1)is listed on the
NAPA Web site as "standard" and is equivalent to
the OE contact set installed in most single-point
distributors. The breaker arm tension specification
is 19-23 ounces, and in addition to the main leaf
spring, which is non-magnetic or just slightly magnetic indicating stainless steel, there is a thin parallel leaf that appears to be copper, which is likely
for conductivity. It is too thin to add any additional
breaker arm tension.
CS89: This contact set on shown on the right side
in Figure 2 is listed on the Web site as "high performance" and appears identical to CS86, but the
main breaker arm leaf is .002" thicker, which increases breaker arm tension to equal the 28-32
ounces of the long-discontinued Delco D112P
(1966294).
CS786P: This contact set is listed on the Web site Fig1: CS786 vs. CS86. Both are "standard" 19-23 oz breaker arm tension.
as "vented", but the set in the box was not vented
and is likely CS786, discussed next. Other than the perforated contact pads, CS786P is likely identical to CS786.
Vented points have been around for decades, and the theory is that they run cooler, which extends point life, but I
have no personal experience and have never seen a scientifically conducted test.
CS786: This contact set is listed on the Web site as "heavy duty" and has larger diameter contact pads (Figure1)
that increase contact area by about 43 percent. Because of the larger contact pads, the breaker arm is a different
design than the other sets - different geometry - that made measuring breaker arm tension difficult, but breaker arm
tension is the same as CS86.
CS7860: This contact set is also listed on the Web site as "high performance" and has the same spring thickness and
32-ounce breaker arm tension as CS89, but it has some different construction details. The other three sets' breaker
arm leaf springs are retained to the breaker arms by 90-degree tangs that fit into slots in the breaker arms. This
set’s leaf spring has no tang. Rather, the spring end mounted to the breaker arm is longer allowing it to be secured
to the breaker arm with the rivet that retains the rubbing block. It does not have the thin copper parallel leaf, but I
found no difference in resistance with my ohmmeter that measures to about 0.1-ohm resolution. All are essentially
zero. The terminal insulator is red rather than white as on all the others, and the adjustment screw has blue Loctite.

This set also has another interesting feature. Packaged with
the capsule of grease is a small felt pad with a slot (Figure 2).
The slot fits over the rubbing block, and the instructions say to
grease both the rubbing block and felt pad. This should help
retain grease and, in my opinion, should be included with the
other sets, too. Despite this extra feature and what appears to
be somewhat more robust construction, the CS7860 is the
least expensive of the six!
CS7860C: This contact set is listed on the Web site as "racing
only", and I suspect it has higher than 32-ounce breaker arm
tension. Since the 32-ounce contact sets are good to 7000plus revs in a snug distributor, CS7860C should not be necessary for any road-going Corvette with something close to an
OE engine configuration.
My basic usage recommendations are as follows:
1. Engines with redlines up to 5500 and the 1.8-ohm ballast
(1957154) - CS86.

2. Engines with redlines up to 5500 and the 0.3-ohm ballast
(1931385) - CS786. The additional contact area might reduce
the tendency to burn points, which is not uncommon on systems with the 0.3-ohm ballast, especially in cold weather. Ballast resistance decreases with decreasing ballast temperature and vice versa. All 12-volt C1s were built with the 0.3-ohm ballast, and a 1962 Technical Service Bulletin
recommends using the 1.8-ohm ballast in cold weather to reduce the possibility of burned points. The 1.8-ohm ballast replaced the 0.3-ohm ballast as a running change on 1963 250 and 300-horsepower engines, but the 0.3-ohm
ballast continued to be used on C2 mechanical-lifter engines through the end of 1964 production. Beginning in
1965, only the 1.8-ohm ballast was used with all single-point systems until the change to the resistance wire in
1968.
3. Engines with redlines over 5500 - CS7860. This 32-ounce set is 30-percent less expensive than CS89 and has
some better features.
Proper distributor operation is necessary for peak engine performance - everything from idle quality to achieving redline without spark scatter or ignition breakup. It is possible that a standard-tension contact set will achieve 6500
revs in a freshly blueprinted, snug distributor, but in my experience, maximum high-rev performance in SHP/FI engines requires a 32-ounce contact set. As with many tuning parameters, what works in your distributor boils down to
the condition of your distributor, your driving habits, and, perhaps, some experimentation. My bet is that a majority
of single-point distributors out there are in need of a blueprint overhaul. Sloppy endplay, excess shaft bushing clearance, and wobbly breaker plates will not allow peak performance, even in base engines. If the ignition system does
not deliver a properly timed spark of sufficient energy for all operating conditions, the engine will never achieve peak
performance and fuel economy. It's that simple!
Nominal point life is about 30,000 miles, but varies widely depending on ignition system configuration, condition, and
operating conditions. Since most of our cars have low annual mileage accumulation, it is a good idea to check rubbing block lubrication every couple of years, and while you're at it, check point resistance and dwell angle. Dwell angle changes due to contact surface and rubbing block wear affect initial timing, therefore checking initial timing is
also a good idea after you have checked and, if necessary, adjusted dwell. Throw in the idle speed/mixture adjustment procedure, and you have done a minor tune-up in less time than a wash job.
Thank-you Tim Schuetz for providing the test samples. Tim did not want them back, so I auctioned-off the standard
breaker arm tension contact sets at our February Southern California Chapter judging school with proceeds earmarked to the Chapter Charity Program. I retained the high breaker arm tension contact sets for further evaluation.

OPEN MEETING
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Don Troyer on Monday, January 10, 2011, at 6:50 p.m. at Harbor Chevrolet in Long Beach. Board members in attendance were Don Troyer, Allen Morris, Brian Quadt,
Verity Hobbs, Ed Vignone, John Piovesan, Rusty Hobbs,
Jerry Louer, Pat Louer, Barbara Vignone and Bob Crane.
SECRETARY'S REPORT AND READING OF PREVIOUS
MINUTES
Don Troyer stated the Secretary's Report had been disseminated. A motion to approve the minutes of December 5, 2010, was made by Allen Morris, seconded by
Bob Crane and passed.
TREASURER'S REPORT
New Treasurer, Verity Hobbs, has moved the SCC
checking account and the CD to Wells Fargo Bank. The
new checking account has no monthly fees. The new
savings account rate is .05% so she plans to shop for a
better rate. At this time, the checking account has approximately $9,400 and the savings account has approximately $6,000. The balance at changeover is approximately $15,466. Allen Morris made a motion for
Verity to pursue a $10,000 CD for a six-month period. The motion was seconded by Ed Vignone and
passed.
OFFICERS' REPORTS
There were no reports at this time.
REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Regional Director Ed Vignone stated the NCRS National
Meet in 2011 will offer on-line registration as well as
mail-in registration for the first time. The Arizona Regional Meet will also permit on-line registration.
OLD BUSINESS
A. Holiday Brunch - All bills have been paid except (1)
Don Troyer for flowers and (2) Brian Quadt for 3 lunches he paid on December 5, 2010 for the Fifles family. Receipts for payment of these expenses were turned
in to Verity Hobbs at the meeting.
B. Laughlin Road Tour - Allen Morris reported that a
fun time was had by 14 people driving 5 Corvettes from
our Region and 2 Corvettes from other Regions. He will
write a report for the upcoming Bonding Strip.
C. Bonding Strip - Ed Vignone stated he will forward
pictures to Jamie Fifles for the next newsletter
which will be published February 1, 2011. Today is the
closing date for articles to be submitted.
D. Judging School and Tech Session February 5 Larry Pearson may be a guest lecturer. Rusty Hobbs
has volunteered to give a session on 4-speed shifter
overhaul. This event will be held at GM Down Under. Ed Vignone will send an e-mail blast to notify
members. SCC will furnish a pizza lunch. Allen Morris
will bring donuts. Bob Crane will bring chips and
drinks. Verity Hobbs will bring pizza. Ed Vignone will

E. Spring Judged Meet March 12 - Location has not yet
been confirmed. John Piovesan said judges need to be
flexible and learn to evaluate all parts of the car to be
judged, not just engine bay or paint or interior. Corvette Mike was contacted via phone by Allen Morris and
Mike has agreed to host the event. Ed Vignone will
send a sample flyer to the Board for review. John Piovesan will make up the judging teams. Seven cars are
currently registered, according to Jerry Louer.
F. 2012 National Convention (update) - Thirty-eight
promotional shirts have been ordered..
G. 30th Anniversary Patches - Item complete.
H. Events for 2011 - Big Bear has been selected for
the Fall Meet on August 27, 2011. However, due to the
recent rain storms washing out Highway 330, the meet
may have to be moved and we may have to consider
another location. Allen Morris stated this may not be an
issue as most trailered cars are transported up the
mountain via the back road.
NEW BUSINESS
A. New Board Members - Rusty and Verity Hobbs and
John Piovesan were asked to e-mail Jamie Fifles their
contact information for the upcoming issue of the Bonding Strip.
B. February Board Meeting - Allen Morris expressed
concern that the February Board Meeting is scheduled
for Monday, February 14, 2011, which is Valentine's
Day. The Board decided not to move the meeting date
as Verity Hobbs volunteered to host a pot luck dinner
meeting at her home in Newport Beach at 6 p.m. on
February 14, 2011.
CLOSE MEETING
There being no further business, Allen Morris made a
motion to adjourn the meeting. Rusty Hobbs seconded. The motion passed and Don Troyer adjourned the

The next judging school will be May 15 at GM
Down Under and the following school would be
held on August 21 at the same location.

judge after the first time their car is entered. Jerry suggested Mike and Sharyl Ingram receive a refund for the
Spring Meet due to a death in the family. Allen Morris
made the motion, seconded by Jerry Louer and passed.
Tabulation Chair Pat Louer stated she needs 6 new calculators. She wants them all identical for ease of operation and accuracy. Ed Vignone made a motion to buy
6 new calculators at a cost not to exceed $100, second
by Allen Morris and passed.
REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Regional Director Ed Vignone said the National Board
meeting will be held on March 25th in Novi, Michigan. At
that meeting Darold Shirwo will make a presentation to
update the status of our 2012 convention. Ed mentioned that attendees of the 2011 Novi convention will
be able to drive their Corvettes on the track at the G.M.
Proving Ground.
OLD BUSINESS
The Spring Judged Meet Jerry Louer said the meet
went well. 12 cars were presented for Flight
judging, 12 more were Sportsman, and one car
was on display.
Cruise to the Sun- Allen Morris took a count of all
board members who plan to attend- 15 at this

Cruisin’ for a Cure- Should be well attended. Verity
Hobbs will collect NCRS registration forms and
write one check to City of Hope. Last year there
were about 1500 attendees.
Holiday Brunch- Rusty Hobbs is to check on “The
Dunes” for this year’s Holiday Brunch.
2012 National Convention- Most activities are coming together. The Town and Country Hotel has
good access to the trolley so members can explore the San Diego area at their leisure. Balboa Park (the zoo) tours will be available. A bus
to Sea World and to the dinner at the Corvette

Board members to volunteer for assignments.
NCC will judge and tabulate.

Advertising Rates for the Bonding Strip
The Official Publication of the Southern California Chapter of the National Corvette Restorer’s Society Effective January 1, 2008
Yearly rates are based on a calendar year. All funds payable to SCC/NCRS. Payment terms are net 30 from date of billing. Rates do not include additional artwork services, as required. Photographs should be high resolution at least 300 ppi. Advertising copy should be submitted
to the Editor no later than 15 days before the first month of the issue advertising is required to run in. Submit all advertising and payment in
full to the editor.
Business Card Advertising. Business cards must be no larger than 2-inches by 3 1/2-inches. Larger cards will be reduced to fit.
