Princess Diana was a huge fan of Jimmy
Choo shoe designs…so much so that
it’s said he lost count of how many
shoes he made for her. But Diana was
seen wearing them only after her split
with Prince Charles, as she did not have
to worry about the height difference.

Jason Segel’s ‘muppet
dream’ comes true
IAN SPELLING
NYT SYNDICATE

Kermit
the
Frog?
‘’Kermit, to me, was like
those guys, the everyman
I loved when I was growing up,’’
Jason Segel says. ‘’I remember
watching The Muppet Show
(1976-1981) and the Muppet
movies. I’d see Kermit and
think, ‘That’s who I want to be
when I grow up.’’’
Segel didn’t grow up to be
Kermit, of course, but rather a
comic actor best known for
Freak and Geeks (1999-2000),
Undeclared
(2001-2002),
Knocked
Up
(2007),
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
(2008) and the current sitcom
How I Met Your Mother.
He never shook his Muppets
obsession, though, collecting
Muppet memorabilia through
the years and even including an
entertaining, Muppet-like puppet arc in Forgetting Sarah
Marshall, which he wrote. And on
November 23 Segel’s talents and
Muppet obsession will converge in
The Muppets, a $40 million love letter to
Muppets creator Jim Henson and his legacy.
Segel stars in, co-wrote and produced the
musical comedy, in which Kermit, Animal,
Fozzie Bear and all the other Muppets
reunite, after years out of the limelight, in
order to save their old Muppet Theatre from
the wrecking ball. Joining forces with the
Muppets are Gary (Segel), his infinitely
patient girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams), and
his Muppet brother, Walter.
Speaking by telephone from a Los Angeles
hotel, where he’s busily promoting the Disney
film, Segel says that his goal was to recapture
the sweet essence of the Henson characters
and the playful, old-school “Let’s put on a
show!” tone of the Muppet movies and variety
series. Oh, and it should be noted that the film
shows no hint of Segel’s bawdier side, frequently on display in his R-rated films.
“It’s a very abstract idea,’’ Segel says, “but
the Muppets remind us of the best version of
ourselves. The world is very cynical and something kind of gets beat out of you, the wideeyed innocence and the idea that you can
accomplish anything, and just being nice to
everybody. And the Muppets managed to
maintain that. If you turn on anything with the
Muppets, you’re reminded of who you wanted
to be when you were a kid, before the world
got hold of you.”
“I think people are hungry to go back to that,
to go back to the idea of naiveté and that the
world is what you make of it,’’ he continues.
Anyone who sees The Muppets will know
that Segel was in his glory during the shoot.
There’s a scene in which Gary and Mary ride in
a car brimming with reunited Muppets. A long
sequence finds Gary looking on as the Muppets
return to a restored and gleaming Muppet
Show stage.
Neither of those, however, was “the’’ scene,
the one that signaled that Segel’s dream had
come true. “The scene that clicked for me and

obsession, though, collecting
Muppet memorabilia through
the years and even including
an entertaining, Muppet-like

made me think, My God, this is really happening, is the finale on Hollywood Boulevard,”
Segel says. “We shut down Hollywood
Boulevard, we had 1,000 extras there and
every single one of the Muppets was there
singing and dancing. It was also my birthday.
So that night I walked out of my trailer and
onto set, like I normally do, and all of the
Muppets and all of the extras sang Happy
Birthday to me.”
“I was like, This is the greatest moment of
my life.’’ Segel’s voice conveys pure joy as he
recounts that anecdote, and barely dips as he
acknowledges the challenge facing his film at
the box office. The Muppets last appeared on a
movie screen more than a decade ago, in the
mostly forgettable Muppets from Space
(1999). Millions of kids out there ages zero to
12 have grown up without the Muppets and
may be entirely unfamiliar with them. It makes
one wonder: Who will go to see The Muppets?
“I think what it will be is my generation and
older, people who love the Muppets and want
to see them again,’’ says Segel, who is 31.
“Those people will also want their kids to
come, because they’ll want to introduce their
kids to the Muppets, to what they loved as kids.
I think what we’ve accomplished is kind of
what Pixar nailed with a movie like Toy Story 3
(2010). Kids were watching a movie about kids
saying goodbye to their toys and parents were
watching a movie about saying goodbye to
their kids. Everyone enjoyed it on a totally different level, but they all enjoyed it. And I think
that’s what we’ve accomplished with The
Muppets.
“It’s definitely a family film,’’ the actor concludes. “Parents will be taking a trip down
Memory Lane, and kids will be enjoying something new that I hope they’ll enjoy for the rest
of their lives.’’
Despite his exhaustive commitment to making and now promoting The Muppets, Segel
hasn’t missed a beat at his day job, How I Met
Your Mother. Now in its seventh season, the
CBS sitcom continues to attract more than 10
million viewers a week. “I think we’ve all done
so much for each other,’’ Segel says. “The producers let me do The Muppets. It would have
been very easy for them to say no, that I was
contractually obligated to the show, but they
worked out the schedule so that I could achieve
my dream. So I think the very least we can all
do is see this story through to the end.’’
Beyond the show and The Muppets, Segel
has several upcoming films awaiting release,
and big plans beyond them.
Writing, producing ... can directing be far off
for Segel? “I love acting, but I’m really getting
into the beginning-to-end process,’’ he says. I
love that an idea starts in your brain and you
see it all the way through. It’s a very satisfying
feeling to know that you’ve created something
from beginning to end. I also like to have a little bit of control.
“But I don’t think I’ll wind up directing
something I write,’’ the actor says. ‘’Here’s how
I think of it: Right or wrong, and I’m not saying
I’m right, but when I think about acting a role
or writing a script I don’t do it unless I feel that,
‘No one else could do this better than me.’
“When I think about directing, I feel like I
always know four or five people who could
direct it better than I could,’’ Segel concludes.
“So I’d prefer the movie be great versus my
doing it for some sense of pride, and it’s not
quite as good as it could have been if I’d put my
pride aside and let someone better direct it.’’
Christmas trees for charity
Tamara Mellon quits Jimmy Choo
SINGERS Sean Combs and Jessica Simpson and real estate mogul Donald
Trump have designed Christmas trees for a charity auction. The trio have
designed the trees for Macy’s annual Believe campaign and proceeds from
the event will benefit America’s Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps terminally-ill children. While Combs decorated his tree with music notes and
icicles, mum-to-be Simpson used faux pearls and Trump put gold bars on
their trees respectively, reports contactmusic.com.
TAMARA Mellon has stepped down as chief creative officer
of Jimmy Choo, the company she formed 15 years ago.
The 44-year-old, who founded the footwear and accessories brand in 1996 along with Jimmy Choo, has stepped
down from the position following its takeover and integration with private Italian luxury goods group Labelux,

the eye of the editorial team of the Daily Star tabloid,
which began featuring her as a Page Three girl.
Brook’s picture soon began appearing in other lad
mags such as GQ, Loaded and FHM. In April of the
same year, a poll over 5,000 women for Grazia magazine
considered her to have the best British female body. She
also topped the ‘FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World’
list in 2005, which was said to have polled 15 million people. Appearing in this list every year since 1998, she
ranked #34 in 2008, #67 in 2009 and #7 in 2010. She
was the cover star of FHM’s World Cup 2010 special

In 2006, she signed a contract, reported to be worth
around £1m, to present Unilever’s Lynx body spray,
known as Axe in the US and in continental
Europe. She has appeared on billboards, in newspapers, and on-line
as part of their advertising campaign. She has also appeared
in commercials for Sky +
and T Mobile, and modelled for Reebok.
In 2010, she was chosen as the “new face

Brook produced her own line of swimwear with
New Look, in which she herself has modeled.
In 1997, aged eighteen, Brook started presenting
youth television programmes on MTV, Granada
Television and the Trouble TV channel.
Brook had a breakthrough into mainstream presenting in January 1999, when she was chosen to replace
Denise van Outen as the female half of The Big
Breakfast hosting team, alongside Johnny Vaughan.
She left the show in July 1999
In 2005, she hosted the reality television program
Celebrity Love Island for ITV.
panel, the producers having decided that the fourjudge format was “too complicated”. Brook was billed
as a guest judge in the episode in which she appeared,
taped in Manchester. In October 2009, Brook claimed
that Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant & Dec had been the
cause of her removal as the fourth judge. She claimed
that she was asked to leave the show after she upset the
pair.
ACTING CAREER
In 1997, she appeared in a Pulp video Help the Aged,
with Huck Whitney of the band The Flaming Stars, in
a slow dance sequence.
Brook made her full screen debut with a minor role
in the film Sorted. Shortly thereafter, she appeared in
the film Ripper. She played the girlfriend of Clark
Kent/Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor in four episodes
of the American Science Fiction drama Smallville during the show’s first season (2001–2002). She has also
completed assignments as a movie actress in
Canada and made a short appearance as
Lyle’s girlfriend in the 2003 movie
The Italian Job.
Her first starring role was in
School for Seduction, a
2004 film – she received
positive reviews for her
role.” In 2004, she

REALITY TELEVISION
In 2007, Brook participated in the celebrity dancing
competition Strictly Come Dancing on BBC, with
dance partner Brendan Cole. During the TV series, her
father Kenneth Parsons died from cancer, and
although she initially decided to continue dancing in
his memory, she withdrew from the competition in
week nine.
She also competed in the Strictly Come Dancing
Christmas Special 2008, dancing the Jive with
Brian Fortuna, Brendan Cole having to compete
with his later partner Lisa Snowdon. Brook and
Fortuna were put into fourth place, but with the
studio audience’s vote they came second.
In 2008, Brook took Jennifer Ellison’s place
as one of the three judges on the second series
of the reality TV programme Dirty Dancing:
The Time of Your Life, broadcast between
September and November 2008.
In January 2009, she joined the third
series of Britain’s Got Talent as a fourth
judge, but was subsequently axed from the
programme after less than a week on the
THEATRICAL WORK
In December 2000, she played exotic dancer Anya in
the play Eye Contact at the Riverside Studios in
Hammersmith.
In October 2008, she returned to the west end as
Jeannie, in Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig at London’s Comedy
Theatre. Her performances have had mixed reviews,
the Daily Mail said “Kelly Brook has a pencil waist and
rabbit-thigh legs, but she is not a great interpreter of a
role”. In November 2009, she began playing Celia in
Calendar Girls at the Noel Coward Theatre, a role previously played by Jerry Hall.
PERSONAL LIFE
Brook met American actor Billy Zane while filming
thriller Survival Island in Greece in 2004. Brook and
Zane were engaged to be married in the summer of
2008 and acquired a house in Kent, but Brook postponed the wedding upon the death of her father in
November 2007. The couple split in April 2008 and
briefly got back together before ending their relationship
in August 2008.
Brook has been dating Thom Evans since December
2010. On 16 March 2011, she announced via her Twitter
account that she and Evans were expecting a baby girl.
However, it was announced on 9 May 2011 that Brook
had been rushed to hospital and she had miscarried her
baby girl.
Brook is an animal lover and posed nude with her body

guide
THE bed where Michael Jackson died is no longer for sale.
Julien’s Auctions has removed the queen-sized headboard from
its auction of items from 100 N Carolwood Drive, Jackson’s last
residence. Company president Darren Julien said on Tuesday
the mattress was never for sale, but he removed the carved
headboard seen in evidence photos during the trial of Jackson’s
physician from the sale at the request of Jackson’s estate. The
auction of art, furnishings and other items from the home where
Jackson lived with his three children is set for December 17.

Beatles letter put up for sale
A LETTER written by former Beatle Paul McCartney in 1960 asking a drummer to audition for the pop group will be sold in an auction. The letter written
in response to a small advertisement is expected to fetch between 7,000 and
9,000 pounds at Christie’s in London, the Daily Express reported. Other memorabilia include a fedora hat worn by Michael Jackson during his 1984 Victory
tour, and a photograph of the 1985 Live Aid concert taken by Jason Fraser,
who was suspended 200 feet above Wembley Stadium from a helicopter.
Fraser was the only photographer allowed to capture the event from the sky
and the picture, signed by some of the performing artists, has a reserve price
of 3,000-5,000 pounds.

IVE murals by Mexican artist
Diego Rivera will go on display
on Sunday in a new exhibit that
reunites works that struck a
chord across a broad social
spectrum when they were
unveiled during the Great Depression.
The works, which were first shown in
1931 and 1932, are the highlight of Diego
Rivera, Murals for The Museum of
Modern Art.
The murals were painted at MOMA,
which sold all but one. Museum director
Glenn Lowry said the works, particularly
Frozen Assets, still find resonance today.
“What is interesting about Rivera today is how
prescient his observations about New York 80
years ago were,” he said.
“There is no better metaphor for what is taking place with the various Occupy Wall Street
movements around the country and the world
than the stratification that is revealed in Rivera’s
painting, which shows you the homeless juxtaposed with bank vaults and the wealthy,” he
said..
Weighing nearly 700 kg (1540 pounds),
Frozen Assets was flown to New York after
being removed from its home at the Dolores

The show’s other murals, Electric Power and

from Rivera’s native Mexico and are rejoining

Frozen Assets depicts the New York skyline

with an elderly man who resembles John D
Rockefeller Jr, according to the show’s curator
Leah Dickerman, adding that the craggy profile
of the bank clerk brings to mind John D
Rockefeller Sr.
The exhibit traces Rivera’s tumultuous ties
with the Rockefeller family, which commissioned him to do a mural Man at the
Crossroads for Rockefeller Centre, which was
under construction.
But in 1934 the family ordered the destruction of the work-in-progress after Rivera
refused to withdraw an image of Soviet leader
Vladimir Lenin, according to exhibit documents.
Rivera’s relationship with Moscow is illustrated in the exhibit with 45 of his watercolours
from his 1927-1928 sojourn in Soviet Union.
While he was in Moscow he met and established
a relationship with Alfred Barr, who was the first
director of MOMA when it opened in 1929.
It was Barr who invited Rivera to paint the
murals at MOMA, which was then housed at a
different location from its present site.
Of the five exhibited murals, MOMA held on
to Agrarian Leader Zapata, which shows
Mexican insurgent Emiliano Zapata holding the
reins of a white horse, which was modelled on
an early 15th century painting from the Italian
Renaissance.

Chitrangada to wear sexy professor look!
Secret behind Ranveer’s six-pack abs
REMEMBER Sushmita Sen as the sexy and stylish college
professor in Main Hoon Na? Now Chitrangada Singh is set
to recreate the same magic as a uber chic economics professor in Desi Boyz. Chitrangada’s character required her to
look edgy, smart, stylish and yet mature. So her stylist went
with fringes for her hairdo. According to a source, a
renowned stylist from London was approached to design her
get-up for the film. The look turned out to be so classic that
when Chitrangada met an Indian Professor who wanted to
click a picture with her as they looked nothing like her. said
a source.
AFTER the Khans and Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh of Band
Baaja Baaraat fame has toned himself with six-pack abs for
his next release Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl. The 26-year-old actor
went on a strict 48-hour diet regime and stayed hungry for
nearly two days to get the perfect look, according to a source
from production company, Yash Raj Films. In Ladies Vs Ricky
Bahl, Ranveer will once again be seen with his Band Baaja
Baaraat co-star Anushka Sharma. Directed by Maneesh
Sharma, the film will release on December 9. Earlier, Shah
Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan flaunted six-pack
abs in Om Shanti Om, Bodyguard and Ghajini respectively.

HERE have been many
reports, many denials,
many statements from
the pair of yes, but not
now and we will tell you
when we decide and yes, soon,
about the marriage of Kareena
Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. Well,
now we have it directly from Saif’s
mouth, the two lovebirds will tie
the knot in 2012. I know you are
thinking but that could be any time
in twelve months. Well, Saif also
confirmed that the grand wedding
will be either in February or March.
He told the media recently,

Shirt’ Case

T`S an open and shirt case Akshay Kumar has a
‘no shirtless scenes’ clause in all his film contracts. But we hear, he’s taking it off for a bachelorette party
John Abraham and Salman Khan may like removing
them, but Akshay Kumar has made it clear that he
doesn’t.
Debutant director Rohit Dhawan had to learn this
the hard way, when he wanted a shirtless Kumar in
Desi Boyz, where the actor plays a male escort.
“Akshay loved the idea of playing a male escort, but
didn’t want to strip on screen. So he suggested they
make the comedy without any skin show, “ said a
source.
Dhawan then enlisted father David Dhawan’s help to
convince Kumar to go shirtless — for one song — and
Kumar, we hear, finally agreed.
In the song, Jhak maar ke, shot as part of a bachelorette bash, both Kumar and co-star John Abraham
go topless.
Though Kumar has the image of being a ladies’
man, and is known for his abs and his comic timing,
the actor dislikes undressing for the camera. In fact,
before he signs on any film, he makes it clear to his
producer that he will not expose. We are told the
actor actually puts a ‘no shirtless’ clause in his
contracts.
“Even for David Dhawan’s Mujhse Shaadi
Karogi, Kumar refused to go shirtless in a
scene with Salman Khan on the beach. But
just this once, Akshay agreed to the skinshow, as he didn’t want to break Rohit’s
heart, “ the source said.
The only other time the actor took his
shirt off was in Suneel Darshan’s
Talaash (2003).
“Akshay was convinced because he
knew it was an important scene. The
song demanded that he go shirtless.
It was part of the script, “ said
Dhawan.

in February 2012 after Agent
Vinod releases, but if the film’s
release gets delayed we will still tie
the knot by March. We won’t postpone the marriage beyond that
anymore.”
He also had nothing but love and
praise for his future bride,
“Kareena is a wonderful girl and we
are extremely compatible. My family and she have always got along
well. We share the same values in
life, love each other completely and
I want to spend more time with her.
I am looking forward to the marriage now.”

S
HAH Rukh Khan starrer Don 2 has found itself in midst of controversies for copyright
infringement from the original makers but producer Ritesh Sidhwani clarifies that they
have not done anything wrong.
According to reports, Nariman Films, producer of the 1978 Amitabh Bachchan starrerDon,
has sent a legal notice to Excel Entertainment for copyright infringement saying that they had
only given the right to remake the movie and no rights to make a sequel.
“About the notice from the original producers of Don be rest assured we have done
nothing wrong and shall stick to the correct legal and moral principals,” Sidhwani
posted on his Twitter account.
Don - The Chase Begins, a remake of the original, came in the year
2006. Directed by Farhan Akhtar and starring Shah Rukh, the film
was a hit.
Now the same team will be seen in part two, which is
releasing on December 23.

Shilpa takes 2-year break
TNN
Shilpa Shetty
A
CTOR-TURNED Business
woman Shilpa Shetty doesn’t blame her marriage and
multiple ventures for her
disappearance from films. It’s the
lack of “interesting” and new roles
that have compelled the 36-year-old
to announce a break from the big
screen.
“No earth-shattering roles were
being offered to me. There was nothing. Whatever little work was coming
my way, I had already done those
things. I didn’t want to repeat myself.
I want to do parts that will justify me
as an actor,” says Shilpa.
Since that isn’t happening, she
believes it’s time for a sabbatical. “So,
I have taken this deliberate break for
two years before I start acting again.
I had reason to do that because I got
married and responsibilities and priorities all changed for me overnight.
I’m still a full-time businesswoman
and it’s very difficult to do everything
together.”
And no, she isn’t missing her original profession.
“I don’t miss it. I’m very content in
my life and I’m very busy with my
business and my husband, so I don’t
really feel like I’m losing out on it,”
says the actor, who will, however, be
once again seen on celluloid in her
long awaited upcoming flick, Desire.
Shilpa has a flourishing spa business, an Indian Premiere League
team (Rajasthan Royals) and her
own yoga DVDs, and has now
launched a discounted real estate
website, Group Home Buyers, for the
middle class segment. And if you
thought this was it, hold on. “My next
business would be my production
company,” she says.

Joel Moore files for divorce
Munn dating ice hockey hunk
AVATAR actor Joel Moore has filed for
divorce from his wife Kineret Karen Ben
Yishay Moore. In documents filed in the
Los Angeles County Superior Court, the
34-year-old has cited irreconcilable
differences for the split from Kineret,
reports Tmz.com. The couple tied the
knot on January 1, 2009 and separated in June this year.
AMERICAN actress Olivia Munn is dating ice hockey player
Brad Richards. The 31-year-old actress has been branded a
“good luck charm” for the 31-year-old Canadian’s New York
Rangers side after they won their last six consecutive games
since they began their romance, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“Brad and Olivia have been dating [for] a couple weeks,” said
a source. “Olivia has become the Rangers’ good luck charm
as they’ve been on a 6-0 winning streak since they first
started dating two weeks ago,” he added.

An online petition is demanding
that Keeping Up With the Kardashians be

it.
The ‘No More Kardashian’ petition, which is
posted at GoPetition.com, is collecting signatures, which petition author Cyndy Snider is
planning to eventually send to E! Online in
hopes of having Keeping Up With the
Kardashians pulled from the airwaves.
The petition reads,
“Dear E! Online,
We are respectfully requesting that your network find other shows to air.
Keeping up with the Kardashians is just not
viewing that we the public, would like to see
from your network. Enough is enough.
I am asking people to sign a petition that will
be forwarded to E! Online to request that the
show, Keeping up with the Kardashians,
ends.”
The petition, which was posted November
2 — days after Kim Kardashian filed for
divorce from her husband, NBA player Kris
Humphries, after just 72 days — has collected nearly 150,000 signatures so far. That
might be a drop in the bucket compared to

Kardashian haters can take
hope — perhaps from this tiny acorn, a
mighty oak will grow.
The Kardashians — specifically, middle sister Kim — have been under fire in recent weeks
following her abrupt split from Humphries,
which led many to believe that the marriage
was a sham. But according to petition author
Snider, her exasperation with the program
goes deeper than recent events.
“ We feel that these shows are mostly staged
and place an emphasis on vanity, greed,
promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption,” the statement reads,
referring to the suite of Kardashian shows.
“While some may have begun watching the
spectacle as mindless entertainment or as a
sort of ‘reality satire,’ it is a sad truth that many
young people are looking up to this family and
are modelling their appearance and behaviour
after them.”
The statement adds, “There is no particular
religious or political platform behind our disgust; we are just finally fed up.”
Those wishing to sign the petition may do so
here.
In other Kardashians news, Kim Kardashian
and the magazine Marie Claire ended up with
some egg on their faces with the release of the
publication’s December issue.
In the cover story about her, Kardashian —
in an interview obviously conducted prior to
the dissolution of her marriage — rhapsodizes
about her relationship with Humphries, gushing, “I feel like where we’re at right now is the
best time in my life.”
What’s more, the reality TV princess defends
her and Humphries’ dash to the altar after dating for a short time.
“We felt like, ‘Why wait?’” Kardashian
reflected.
Funny man Robin Williams enjoys ‘Happy’ moments

OBIN Williams wants everyone to know that he’s happy.
When fans stop the actorcomedian to snap a photo
with him on their cell
phones, Williams says he usually always
obliges but often finds people complain
that something seems wrong with him —
even though he’s smiling.
“I think people always want zany,
goofy (expletive) from me,” said
Williams, who recently returned from a
honeymoon to France with new wife,
graphic designer Susan Schneider. “It
takes a lot of energy to do that. If you do
that all the time, you’ll burn out.”
Williams, who underwent surgery to
replace an aortic valve in 2009, is far
from retirement, but he acknowledges
that he’s taking it easier even though he’s
playing two separate parts in Happy
Feet Two, out on Friday.
The funnyman reprises his roles as
chivalrous Adelie penguin Ramon and
bombastic rockhopper Lovelace in the
follow-up to the 2006 Oscar-winning
animated film about singing-and-dancing penguins. The 3-D sequel finds
Ramon attempting to woo a sultry bird
named Carmen (voiced by Sofia
Vergara), while Lovelace is hyping a “flying penguin” named Sven (Hank
Azaria).
During a recent interview to promote
the animated film, Williams discussed —
with the help of some Irish, Australian
and robotic accents — what his life is like
at age 60 and why he almost passed out
in the sound booth while recording his
part in Australia.
AP: What kind of pressure, if any, did
you feel working on a Happy Feet
sequel?
Williams: Well, you have to do it better than the first time to make it worthwhile, not just for the sake of the franchise. (Director) George (Miller) kicked
it hard. I asked him after he saw it what
he thought, and he said, “Well, I don’t
know, but I think it’s better.” I said, “I
think so, too.” He used the technology,
performances, everything, and took it to
a new level.
AP: You’re known for your improvisational skills, which I’m sure was prevalent on this film because the voice actors
all recorded their parts together. What
was your most memorable improv
moment while working on this project?
Williams: There was one moment as
Lovelace where I started speaking in
tongues. I got so kind of crazy that I
almost passed out. George said, “That’s
great. Keep going!” I told him that if I
kept going, I would fall down. I just
started doing this Baptist hymnal thing.
“Hmmmmhmmmmhmmmm.” I think
that’s actually what led to the gospel
song that’s in the movie.
AP: It sounds like you had a religious
experience right there in the sound
booth.
Williams: (In an Australian accent.)
“He had an epiphany right there in
Australia!” ‘’Epiphany? Isn’t that a
singer?” ‘’No, that’s Tiffany.” You do get
close to it. There are just these times
when you’re in the sound booth working
together and just really having fun.
Being in the same room with people and
creating something together is a good
thing.
AP: It seems like you can do any
accent. Which one gives you the most
trouble?
Williams: (In an Irish accent.) I have
a difficult time doing an Irish accent,
even now it kind of fades slowly into
Scottish. You just have to remember it’s
all sung: “What are you doing?
(Expletive) off.” You have to be a big fan
of U2 and Bono. It’s vocal. It’s singing.
This is actually the best time I’ve ever
done it. Thank God you’re recording this
now.
AP: As a big technology buff, what
gadgets or games are you into at the
moment?
Williams: I’m fascinated by the new
iPhone. I bought it and kept trying to use
it in France. “Siri, what is a good restau-
rant?” (In a robotic voice.) “I’m
sorry, Robin. I can’t give locations in France.” ‘’Why, Siri?” ‘’I
don’t know.” It’s like she was
upset with the French or something. “They seem to have an
attitude I can’t understand.
Should I look for Germans,
Robin?”
AP: What’s life like for you
now that all your children are
adults?
Williams: It’s quiet. I just
saw my daughter, Zelda, the
other night. My oldest son is
married, and my youngest son
just went off to college. It’s like
they’ve left the earth’s gravity,
and I’m watching them. “There
he gooooes!” I’m just so proud. I
don’t have a college degree, and my
father didn’t have a college degree, so
when my son, Zachary, graduated from
college, I said, “My boy’s got learnin’!”
AP: What about your heart surgery?
How has that affected how you live your
life now?
Williams: I learned to appreciate the
idea of just taking it a little bit easier.
You just have to be a little more present.
It’s really wonderful. It makes you
appreciate everything — like breath, and
friends and family. Taking it down just a
little bit and travelling at the speed of life
is a much easier journey.
AP: It seems like you’ve done everything. What do you want to tackle next?
Williams: After getting married
and just coming back from the honeymoon, I have to look at what I want
to do in the next year.

Gerald seeing Sarah?
Angel Locsin in love with Phil
Younghusband

THIS is Gerald Anderson’s advice to Sarah Geronimo, whose love life
seems to be taking a back seat to her career. Gerald, who plays opposite Sarah in the forthcoming movie, Won’t Last a Day said in an interview in The Buzz on Sunday, November 13, “ We all knew what is her
situation. She’s been through a lot.” Sarah was linked previously to
Rayver Cruz. When asked if Sarah will be the one who can make his
Christmas more special, Gerald said, “It’s too early to tell, let’s see.”
The young actor may not be in a relationship now, but he shared that
he gets much love and support from his friends and family. Gerald
recently held a basketball charity event which was supported by his
friends from Star Magic and ASAP Rocks.
IN an interview on ABS-CBN’s The Buzz on November 13,
actress Angel Locsin admitted that she is in love with football
player Phil Younghusband. However, when asked if they are a
couple, Angel provided a vague answer: “Commitment? I don’t
know. But both of us are in love”. Angel added that if and when
Phil asks her to be his girlfriend, she will say yes. She shared,
The actress proceeded to describe Phil as ‘very kind person,’
and revealed that she has never been happier. Moreover, Angel
wouldnt say how long she’s been in love with Phil.

Ruffa shines in Regal Shocker
despite defective script
TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORK
I
’M not a big fan of Ruffa Gutierrez,
but in the November 12 episode of
TV5’s Regal Shocker, she shone as a
retired fashion stylist turned nasty
fashion blogger. She spent most of
the hour fending off an evil pair of red shoes.
True to her character, Ruffa goes through
more than a dozen costume changes. She’s
wearing a different outfit in every sequence
and is dressed to the nines even in her more
terrifying scenes. More important, she was
credible as a girl from a poor family who
attains success as a fashion stylist. She then
uses her newfound power to put down
the affluent people who used to laugh
at her.
I must, however, chide producers TV5 and Regal Multimedia
Inc for not giving credit where
credit is due. JM Costales is listed as episode writer and
Rahyan Carlos as creative head
but they forgot to include one
important
name, Hans
Christian Andersen, the
Danish author of the fairy tale
The Red Shoes. The least they
could have done was include
a credit “inspired by a fairy
tale of Hans Christian
Andersen.” Andersen’s
story, published in 1845,
concerns a peasant girl
whose life is taken over
by a pair of red shoes and
ends up with her feet
chopped off. A Korean
movie
Bunhongsin
(The Red Shoes) did
the honourable thing
and gave co-writing
credit to Andersen.
Back to Regal Shocker. In
the local version, Ruffa
plays Karina, a popular
fashion critic who ruins
the lives of many
entertainers with her
vicious commentaries. She
discovers a pair of red shoes in a garage sale
right in front of her house (how convenient
for the production). Feliz, the unfashionable
owner, refuses to sell the shoes but Karina
manages to steal them later, dressed as an
old crone.
Karina’s troubles are minor at first. She
experiences hallucinations—there’s blood
on her shoes, worms surround her feet, an
angry woman asks Karina to return her
shoes. Then the shoes take over her feet. She
dances with her husband’s guests, kicks her
mother-in-law. The owner, Feliz, who never
suspected Karina of stealing the red shoes,
reveals the secret of the cursed footwear.
They belonged to her aunt Olga
(Precious Lara Quigaman)
who was a famous fashion
model with a mean streak.
Without any logical explanation, she suddenly dies
during a shoot, blood
dripping on her white
shoes. That explains
why the shoes are red.
They’re covered with
Olga’s blood.
Karina begs for forgiveness from Olga for
stealing her shoes and
miraculously, the shoes
are finally off her feet.

the spirit of Olga, who now has horns (the
devil’s messenger?), wants Karina to take
back her shoes (why were they removed
from Karina’s feet in the first place?) and
become Satan’s disciple.
Karina drives Olga away with her rosary
but a few seconds later, she reappears
and succeeds in getting Karina to wear
her shoes. Karina attacks her husband, who conveniently has a flask
of holy water with him. She backs
