NEWS Marianne Dubuc
I wanted to start this newsletter on an inspirational note… Searching through old files, Marianne has recently uncovered a
priceless video of her, as a little girl, talking about her ambition to become an illustrator and writer. Have a look HERE! It really
shows one should believe in his dreams. To date Marianne’s books are published in 19 languages, an amazing achievement!
At the moment, Marianne is busy finishing the illustrations for NOAH’S ARK for Carlsen Verlag in Germany.
Look at how cute this is! I just adore the rabbits and mice sticking their tongues out! ;)
NOAH’S ARK (98pp incl. flexi cover. Rounded corners. 14 x 14 cm. Carlsen, Germany)
Plop, plop, the rain is starting to fall in the animals’ kingdom and they quickly need to find a refuge! In the distance, a boat approaches
and a gentle old man invites them on board. Elephants, sheep, bears, turtles, lions….never has there been so many animals on a ship!
Slowly each one settles, keeping busy and having fun its own way. But as the rain doesn’t stop and storms are raging, some start to get
bored, sea-sick or bicker. Will the clouds eventually leave place to the sun again?
The first foreign covers of “LITTLE MOUSE’S ROUND” are here and so will the French copies soon! Rights are now sold in
Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Greece, in English language (for North America) & Korea and Casterman is organising a second
co-edition for FOB Nov. 2015.

at! An exciting but exhausting round for little mouse, who finishes his day bringing the last package… to his own home!

PEEK-A-BOO Series: Animal patterns & Animals colours (B4U Publishing, Czech Republic)
Specifications: 18pp incl. cover / 19x19cm
The incredible world of nature for the very young. These two books in the new Peek-a-Boo series help children understand animal
mimicry and camouflage. In each book four different animals are perfectly concealed in their surroundings without having changed their
coat, skin or feathers. The chapters work on a matrix/patrix principle. In each case the front side is covered by the pattern/colour typical
of an animal; this page contains a cut-out invisible at first sight into which is fitted a shape from the back. The child turns the page and
an animal that previously blended in with its background ‘peeks out’ at him/her. Readers will also discover interesting facts from the
animal kingdom. Moreover, the front side serves as a stencil with which to draw the animals’ shapes, and you can use the protrusion on
the back to make a picture with quick pencil strokes!

fun series about kids’ dream jobs, depicted exactly the way they imagine them to be. Whether they’re walking a pack of dogs on

WHAT IS A MAN DOING WITH A SARDINE ON HIS HEAD ? by Raul Guridi
13.5 x 19 cm box containing 36 cards (12 with texts & 24 with illustrations) Tres Tigres Tristes, Spain
Everything started when I, by chance, met Captain Sargazo. He was walking in the street, keeling on the right and the left side and
stumbling upon everything that stood on his way. When we passed each other, he took me by the arm and showed me a torn and wornout nautical map, with drawings in each fold. Then, without explanation, he burst out laughing, left me the map and took off, shouting
through the wind : « An d this is how I ended up with a sardine on my head ! ». Since then I have observed this old map many times and
have always been curious to know what those sentences and drawings meant and of course what it has to do with a man with a sardine
on his head. Hopefully you’ll be able to make sense of Captain Sargazo’s story. Or not… A unique game-book containing 36 cards (some
with text, some with illustrations) that will only make sense if you add your…imagination ! You decide if you want to make a long story,
a short one or even a unique scene. Enjoy a different way of reading! All rights available incl. Spanish language for Latin America.
