Imamia Medics International
Imamia Medics International 5th International Arbaeen Medical Mission A Join IMI’s 5th Arbaeen Medical Mission For the fifth year in a row, IMI will be coordinating a medical mission in Iraq this Arbaeen. IMI’s plans at Arbaeen this year include medical services in Karbala through 2 medical camps, one at Babel Qibla and the other in the Haram of Hazrat Abbas (A.S.). At each of these locations, teams will operate in groups by shifts. At each of the two main Karbala camps we plan on having 2 groups of doctors who will provide medical services in shifts each to allow each camp to run for most of the day. Each camp will also have separate care areas for men and w omen. Additional medical services will also be provided at Al Safeer Hospital where doctors with specialties will provide some clinical and surgical care. A similar set up will be coordinated for the IMI M edical Camp in Najaf as well where IMI will once again run a 4-‐
day medical camp inside the Haram of Imam Ali (A.S.) during the Shahadat of Prophet Muhammad and Imam Ali Reza (A.S.). Tentative dates for the M edical Mission are: • Karbala Camps only: December 16 – December 26th, 2013 • Karbala & Najaf Camps: December 16-‐ January 4th, 2014 Applications are being solicited by all interested in participating. As a medical delegation, the majority of applicants who w ill be accepted are health professionals. However, a limited number of spots are available for medical students and non-‐health professionals who will commit to serving as administrative help including reporting on daily activities at each camp and taking appropriate pictures. All delegates applying to IMI’s 5th Annual Arbaeen Medical Mission must commit to serving at the medical camps as scheduled by the camp director and that this service will be the primary focus of their trip. Delegates will also be responsible to attend a pre-‐departure orientation session and post-‐mission debriefing as well as report on their activities. Completed applications (with all attachments including your CV, passport copies and forms) must be received by August 15, 2013 and are available by clicking below. Please note: emails expressing interest do not count as an application—you must submit ALL of the required material by the deadline for consideration. Questions? Contact [email protected] or call +1-‐609-‐802-‐0580. COSTS IMI is once again working to secure subsidized accommodations and other expenses through the Atabas of Imam Hussain (AS), Imam Ali (AS) and Hazra Abbas (AS) including local transport and meals. You should anticipate your costs to include: 1. Non-‐refundable $150 fee to support administrative and material costs for this program as well as your visa; 2. RT airfare; 3. Subsidized accommodations; 4. Basic amount for your shopping; 5. Costs of any additional side ziyarat you wish to do. Remember, given the somewhat chaotic nature of Iraq, there may be unforeseen changes or costs. Please be patient and flexible and budget some additional money for any such situations. Also, please note that the accommodations in Karbala and Najaf around this time are very difficult to obtain and most lodgings are not singles/doubles but rather with 4-‐5 people in each room.
