attending. This church has recently bought 728 acres
and plan to build a church building that will seat a

The pillars upon which the RCCG has been
standing from its inception are prayer, holiness, and
evangelism. It is a formula greatly blessed by God.

t seemed that my dream to minister in Nigeria,
Africa, would come true in 2006, when I
received an invitation to come to that country.
However, while changing planes in the airport
in Paris, France, I made a misstep on an escalator,
fell, and sustained serious bodily injuries. I spent
two days in the hospital, was unable to continue my
journey, and had to return to the United States. But I
still had a burning desire to minister in Nigeria.
It was not until December 2013 that I had the
opportunity to fulfill my dream. God spoke to my
heart, saying, “Now is the time to go.” This time I
safely arrived in Nigeria, where Bishop Alex Abiola,
the Church of God overseer for Nigeria, met our team,
which consisted of myself, Victor and Kristine Karns,
Daryl Arnold, and David Robinson, at the airport,
drove us to our hotel, and dined with us that evening.
The next morning he drove us to a slave camp where
thousands of people were sold to people from around
the world.
Bishop Abiola arranged for me to minister in
churches in Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria, having
a population of more than 8 million people. He also
brought all the Church of God congregations in
Nigeria together and I had the privilege of ministering
to this great group. The service started at 5:00 a.m.

LOWERY AFRICAN CRUSADE
MINISTERS TO THOUSANDS
ulfilling a divine mandate God gave him more than seven years ago,
Dr. T.L. Lowery recently conducted an evangelistic campaign in Nigeria,
Africa, during which he addressed more than a half-million people at one
time.
The calling that first directed him to Nigeria in 2006 was delayed when
he experienced a serious fall as he was passing through the Paris, France,
airport. A misstep on an escalator took him to the hospital, where he had to
stay several days. His injuries required him to postpone the Nigeria trip and
return home.

and continued until 12:00 midnight. Besides sharing
the Word of God, I also ordained forty-one individuals
to the ministry. The Holy Spirit placed His approval
on this occasion by allowing a mighty move of God
to sweep through the congregation. I was impressed
with the great work Bishop Abiola is doing in Nigeria.
Before going to Nigeria, Bishop Enoch Adeboya,
general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church
of God (RCCG), invited me to minister to their
annual congress. When I arrived at the meeting, I
found hundreds of people on their knees and faces
praying and crying out to God for a mighty visitation
of the Holy Spirit that night. That evening, according
to Bishop Adeboya, there were 1.2 million people in
attendance. To minister to this great congregation
was indeed a highlight of my seventy-year ministry.
Bishop Adeboya holds an earned doctorate from
the University of Lagos, and was listed in Newsweek
magazine as “one of the fifty most powerful people in
the world.”
In addition to serving as general overseer of his
denomination, Bishop Adeboya pastors the central
church of the denomination which is located in Lagos
with a membership of 1.2 million, and will seat one
million people. Since the church has outgrown this
facility, they have plans now to build a 9 kilometer
square building which will seat three million
people making it one of the top ten churches in
the world in area size. Projections are to have
this building completed by August 2014. When
the building is complete, by the grace of God,
I plan to return to Nigeria and preach in this
facility.
As a denomination, the RCCG has more
than 20,000 churches in more than 100
countries. About 80 percent of those churches
are in Nigeria. The RCCG has a huge number
of churches in the United Kingdom, plus more than
600 churches in the United States. They have one
Frustrated by the delay, but certain of God’s direction, Dr. Lowery was
finally able to make the trip safely in December 2013. Partnering with Church
of God overseer Alex Abiola, he preached in churches in Lagos, Nigeria’s
largest city, with a population of more than 8 million. He was also invited to
address the large conference gathering of the Redeemed Christian Church
of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the nation. There were
many, many thousands who attended the service.
Nigeria, situated on the west coast of the continent, is Africa’s
most populous nation, with more 174 million citizens. It is also a
divided country; 51 percent Christian, 45 percent Muslim, and the
rest practicing animistic religions, looking to witch doctors for
spiritual direction. The Christian churches are growing, but the
nation overall is troubled by rampant corruption. Christians
in the north and central parts of the country, where
Muslims are a majority, are often violently persecuted.
While Dr. Lowery has concentrated most of his
70-year ministry in the United States, he has attempted
to balance it with frequent international crusades and
conferences. He has traveled and preached in 115
nations, often attracting crowds that fill convention centers
and stadiums. The meetings are often marked with unusual
miracles of healing and deliverance.
