It’s no secret that we love are obsessed with all things cosmetics. It
doesn’t seem to matter how many lipsticks, lip glosses, blushes, liners,
etc we have, there are always others on our ‘must have-gotta have list’.
We have certainly tried many, many, many cosmetic products. But only
certain ones end up being a continuous favourite in our makeup bags.
We thought we’d share some of our combined fave’s that we have used in
the past couple of months.
DR TEAL’S PURE EPSOM SALT BODY WASH & LOTION with Lavender
Available in 4 aromoatherapeutic fragrances: Lavender, Eucalyptus &
Spearmint, Chamomile, and Ginger & Clay.
This is a new product we tried and at first we weren’t too sure if we’d like it
just because it contains lavender. The smell of lavender isn’t necessarily one of
my favourite smells. But what did interest us in giving this product a try is the
fact that it contains Epsom Salt. Everyone knows the healing powers of Epsom
Salt. How it relieves all kinds of aches and pains and helps relax your muscles.
That combined with the lavender benefits of calming and relaxing we figured
it’s at least worth a try.
Surprisingly the lavender smell was very mild and I actually
didn’t mind it in the slightest. I don’t prefer to give up on my
other beloved body washes but we both found that after
work outs and exercising using these 2 products definitely had
some soothing and relaxing benefits. Infact the other day I had
a major pain issue in the back of my neck and shoulder area
(like a stress knot) and I applied just the lotion and in a few
minutes it actually eased. It didn’t take the pain away but I felt
it took the edge off. I wouldn’t use it everyday, but I definitely
use it when needed for any aching muscles

Dr. Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt Body Lotion + Body Wash
Chilling in a bathtub with some Netflix is something I secretly enjoy doing (not so secret anymore) and one of my favourite
bath buddies has been Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt; since it’s so affordable! However I haven’t tried anything else from Dr. Teal’s
until now- the Pure Epsom Salt Body Wash and Pure Epsom
Salt Body Lotion, both containing eucalpytus and spearmint
makes me feel like I finished my bath in a spa!
I have always believed in aromatherapy and when I used to
have headaches, I make a eucalyptus + hot water solution and
sniff it. And when I get a stomachache, I head straight to my tea
stash and make some mint tea. I love shopping at places like Sage
and Escents Aromatherapy, but it does make my wallet cringe a bit
when I haul there. Which is why I love Dr. Teal’s products as they
are effective and affordable!
Dr. Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt Body Wash with Eucalyptus & Spearmint is
probably the best thing ever if you have a cold, feeling sore, feeling
headachey…basically if you feel crappy this is a great (and not
expensive) pick me up! It does smell very minty and herbal-y, so if that’s
not your thing then stay away since the scent lasts for quite a bit. It
contains Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, and Vitamin E to make your skin soft
and the epsom salt will relieve those tense muscles. The body wash
feels very rich and I love scrubbing my body with a loofah. This is almost
GONE in my bathroom because my mom equally loves this as much as I
do. After I step out of the shower, I just inhale my hands (weird I know)
to make me feel super refreshed.
Dr. Teal’s Body Lotion also contains shea butter and Vitamin E and it is a thick,
emollient lotion. It could get sticky though if it’s too hot (good thing it is
nearing the end of summer) so I prefer using this in the morning. I had a major
headache one time I used both body wash + body lotion and I seriously felt so
much more relief after!
Overall– if you are any essential oil/aromatherapy product user, these products is a must
in your shower routine! Speaking of which, I need to get some Epsom Salt soon because
I’ve been getting a lot of knots in my neck and shoulders lately and soaking in a bath is
something I look forward to after work nowadays! Speaking of which, I went for a massage today (guilty
pleasures…) and my body hurts like I just rolled over a bed of gravel, definitely will be doing some
relaxing tonight! (By the way, Canadians- have a great long weekend!)

AUGUST 2015 EMPTIES
September 4, 2015
I am always starting ‘series’ on Writing Whimsy and I never
stick with them, but one of the posts that inspired me to start
a beauty blog in the first place were empties, and I hope to
always have a monthly roundup, even if nobody reads it. After
a fully-loaded July, my August 2015 Empties are a bit sad due
to being on vacation for part of the month (which is less sad)
and doing fieldwork for part of the month and therefore
neglecting everything else in my life.
My August 2015 Empties feature three bath
products because I have been having really bad
neck pain from my fieldwork, and taking baths
as often as I can to help cope with it. I used up
my Dr.
Teal’s Epsom Salt Soaking
Solution with Lavender* which is a
massive bag, but you actually need quite a bit,
and it is a lovely addition to any night-time
bath and something I would purchase to help
with muscle pain.

Makeup, Hairstyle Trends 2016, 2017, 2018: Review of the Best
Beauty Looks From 2015 MTV VMAs Video Music Awards
The MTV Video Music Awards always brings the brightest stars to the red (or in this case, multicolored) carpet
showcasing the hottest looks. This year’s show was amazing with performances by The Weekend, Tori Kelly, Demi
Lovato, Pharell and more. But, as I sat in my living room dancing to the beats (and singing off-key!), I couldn’t keep my
eyes off the stunning hair and makeup looks. Below, we’ve rounded up the best of the evening with some step-bystep tips and products used by the celebs.
Bristish model, actress, and singer Cara Delevingne walked the red carpet
at last nights VMAs with Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” crew. She stood out
among the beauties with glowing skin and strikingly defined eyes that
celebrity makeup artist Molly R Stern kept a little smudged and edgy. “I
wanted Cara to look effortless with a subtle edge of rock ‘n roll. To do this
everything had to be done softly to keep her looking fresh.
Step 2: Face
“For her complexion I applied a light veil of Physicians
Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil BB
Cream in Light. Next I applied Kjar Weiss cream blush in
Desired Glow in the hollows of her cheek. I then set that whole
look with a light dusting HD perfecting powder.”
Step 3: Eyes
“For Cara’s eye I smudged a taupe cream shadow on the lids and dusted a sheer
layer of YSL Contour Mono Eyeshadow in 15 Frasque over the top. Next I tightly
lined her lash line top and bottom using Physicians Formula Sexy Booster
Cat Eye Collection Liquid Eyeliner. Then I smudged and extended
that line using Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye
Enhancing Extreme Shimmer Eyeliner Trio in Nude. I finished with
two coats top and bottom of Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Cat
Eye Collection Mascara to add fluttery lashes with a dark edge.

The Best Beauty Looks From the 2015 MTV VMAs
From Gwen's blue double-knots and face jewelry to Lady Gaga's meat dress, the VMAs have always served as the award
show for celebs to make a serious statement (and perhaps cause some controversy) on the red carpet. If award shows
were a family, the VMAs would be the rebellious, tatted-up, glitter eyeshadow-wearing younger sister with a penchant
for saying outrageous things just for shock value. This year was no different, with celebrities like Miley Cyrus (who is
hosting the event and sure to say something outrageous herself some time throughout the night, if her ensemble is any
hint of whats to come) and Nicki Minaj showing up in their full-blown glittery glory. And, in case you were wondering,
yes, Taylor Swift showed up
Everyone's favorite model showed up with a coolgirl side flip, matte complexion, and neutral
makeup—all the better to show off her
signature brows. Makeup artist Molly R. Stern used
Physicians Formula's Argan Wear Ultra Nourishing
BB Cream to give Delevingne's skin a smooth,
flawless finish.

Product Spotlight: Get Cara Delevingne’s Eyeliner for Under $10
If we have a current woman crush, it’s definitely on Cara
Delevingne. Not only is she outspoken, hilarious and gorgeous,
she singlehandedly inspired us to grow our brows back to
mega-bold status, all while injecting some much-needed
personality back into the world of modeling.
She took the stage along with the rest of Taylor’s BFF squad
last night, and while we were naturally coveting those famous
brows, we also couldn’t help falling in love with her subtle,
smudgy cat eye. Cat eye liner is always classic, but it’s going to
be especially big this Fall—and Cara’s simple, sexy take on it is
calling our names.
And the best part? You can get this look at the
drugstore. Celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern used one of
our all-time favorite liquid eyeliners, Physician’s
Formula Sexy Boost Cat Eyes Liner to create this
glam red carpet look. “I tightly lined her lash line, top and
bottom, with Sexy Boost liquid liner,” Molly tells us. “Then I
smudged and extended the line. I wanted her to look effortless
with a subtle hint of rock n roll!”
And Sexy Boost liner is a great choice for a look like this. The applicator has a thin marker-like tip
and comfortable to hold lid that makes delicate lines impossibly easy. The liner itself is really
great—truly matte black, with a long lasting formula that doesn’t crack or fade throughout the
day. We love getting in with a thin eyeshadow brush just before it sets and blending it a little;
this gives a defined yet soft eye makeup look like Cara’s.
One thing’s for sure: this is definitely the liner look we want to copy most for Fall. Cara inspires
us yet again.

This Is How to Get Cara Delevingne's
Rock 'n' Roll VMAs Makeup
I wanted Cara to look effortless, with a subtle edge of rock ’n’
roll," says makeup artist Molly R. Stern, who also works with
Reese Witherspoon and Kirsten Dunst. "To do this
everything had to be done softly to keep her looking fresh."
To achieve the perfect edgy eye, the makeup maven first smudged
taupe cream eye shadow on the model's/actress’ lids, before dusting
a sheer layer of silvery YSL Couture Mono Eyeshadow in 15
Frasque over the top. "Next I tightly lined her lash line top and
bottom using Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Cat Eye
Collection Liquid Eyeliner in Ultra Black ," then smudged and
extended it using another liner.
Two coats of mascara finished the eye, and to
complete Delevingne’s ook, Stern bumped up her bare lips a bit with
the matte, nude-tone Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope in Star System

Celebrity Makeup Artist Gita Bass Shares Her Makeup Secrets
Her favourite tips, must-have beauty products and more.
We've already talked about the Emmy Awards, but there's one more celeb-filled event from
the last few days for your beauty inspiration: the Toronto International Film Festival!
Here are all the hair and makeup highlights:
Do you have a favourite foundation for natural-looking skin?
Elizabeth Olsen
Often, I'll mix it with one or two drops of the Physicians Formula Argan
Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil, which I love. It is amazing. The
combination of those two products creates this gorgeous glow to the skin.
Depending on how oily someone's skin is, I will use less or more oil. If
someone is really dry, I prep the skin with it as well.
Which blushes do you use most?
For blush, something between and pink and peach is pretty universally flattering. On
Lizzie [Elizabeth Olsen], I use the Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing
Argan Oil Blush in Natural. It's a great colour; not too pink, not too peach, just a
really good natural flush.
How do you get your makeup to look so natural?
If you put bronzing powder over top, it makes it look more natural. Physicians
Formula have a beautiful bronzer. It has little bit of shimmer so it gives a glow,
but is not going to turn you into a disco '70s finish.
Nude Wear Touch of Glow was featured and
photographed in the September issue of Redbook in a story
titled, “Makeup Shortcuts for Hectic Mornings”. Redbook has
an approximate circulation of 2,216,865.
Lip Smacker is in New York again, this
time for Fashion Week! Our fun, playful
booth was prominent amongst the other

went to TV personality LuAnn de Lesseps

My favourite fall eyeshadow is the eyelid shade from the Wet N Wild Silent
Treatment trio – it’s the most gorgeous purple-y taupe! A lot of the shades from the LORAC Pro
palette could potentially join my roster, but I’m particularly excited about Slate and Deep Purple.
As for products in stick form, I adore the Stila Smudge Crayon in Umber, a dark brown with a richness that suits the
colder months. To round off the eye makeup, I’ll be pulling out Clinique’s eyeliner in Black Honey and Stila’s Smudge
Stick in Tetra, two deep colours that will be perfect for this time of year.

Transition Your Makeup From Summer To Fall With Wet n Wild Cosmetics
I don’t know about you but I’m thrilled that the heat has dissipated and the cool weather has begun to set in. No more
humidity tousled frizzy hair, sweating or spritzing on layers of setting spray to keep my makeup from melting off! For some
of us going from tanks to sweaters, sandals to boots or bright shades to deep rich pigments can take a bit of getting use to so
today I will feature gorgeous pigments that can help you transition through the seasons.
Wet n Wild has been upping their game by improving their formulas and the price range is still
fantastic! Purple and pinks work for all seasons and with the Floral Values Color Icon Palette
you can wear still wear your favorite petal hues while slowly intensifying your look with the
dark purple-navy to define and sculpt the crease. Going light and bright on the lids and deep
and sultry in the crease is a great autumn effect and for more drama you can also smoke out
the dark shade under the bottom lash line.
With the growing obsession with pumpkin and spice orange makeup is totally acceptable and
Wet n Wild’s matte orange lipstick in Purty Persimmon is a great shade for all skin tones. This
vibrant, solid lipstick delivers bold, ravishing fall color for beautiful full-coverage and no shine.
Although the texture is quite smooth and creamy the formula doesn’t provide tons of
hydration so I like to pair it with a lip primer for a bit more comfort. Pink is also a great all
year color and the shade Don’t Blink Pink is in the medium range to help you slowly fizzle out
of your bright fuchsias. These colors also have great longevity as they adhere well and stay
put.
If you want to go with something that offers a bit more moisture and not as much
orange the Megaslicks Balm Stain in Coral of the Story is light and fresh! This
pretty shade provides a sheer layer of color so you don’t have to go all out
pumpkin if you prefer something more subtle. The balm-lipstick hybrid feels
comfortable and moist on dry lips and the jumbo pencil shape makes application
easy with no drag or feathering.
Frosty pink is also another fabulous shade that can help tone things down.
Light Berry Frost has an iridescent shimmer finish without any large chunks
of cumbersome glitter so you get a smooth, velvety texture with a lovely
sheen. You can even break out this hue for winter looks when you want that
princess pink pout.
