December Birthdays
In astrology, those born between December 1st
and 21st are Archers of Sagittarius. Archers are
exciting and independent. Their positive attitude,
great sense of humor, and kind heart make them
excellent friends. But get ready for an earful.
Archers often also speak their mind.
Those born between December 22nd and 31st
are Goats of Capricorn. Goats are the most
stable and sure-footed of astrological signs.
Reliable, economical, practical, and organized,
they make good multi-taskers and politicians.

Accreditation Update
Accreditation Canada recently conducted an on-site survey
of peopleCare Hilltop Manor Cambridge, A.R. Goudie,
Tavistock and Oakcrossing London. The survey
assessed quality and safety at our organization. We
were awarded exemplary standing.
peopleCare met all of the standards and required
organizational practices. This award is the result of our
collective commitment to providing our residents with safe
high-quality care.
We are very proud of everyone who works here and their commitment to quality
improvement. The on-site survey was an excellent feedback and learning
experience.
We are happy to share our report from Accreditation Canada with you. A copy of the
report is available at the Home.

Message from the Executive Director
From the Desk of Paul
We had our first taste of winter and it did not
stay long. What a busy month November was!
We had a successful Accreditation Survey; thank
you to all our team members for your support
leading up to this event, peopleCare received a
perfect score!
Thank you to Reverend Mark for delivering a
moving and thought provoking Remembrance
Day ceremony and for residing over our Memorial
Service for our friends who have passed on, both
services were well done and appreciated, we are
so lucky to have you here.
A big thank you to all who helped out with the
Snowflake Bazaar; it was another successful
event enjoyed by families and residents that raised a total of $1055 for resident
programs and initiatives. We held a Smokey and the Bandit dress down day and for the
Men’s Club the men gathered around and watched the classic movie and had some
beer and nachos.
In the spirit of the season the Christmas lights are up at A.R. Goudie; be sure to look
out the window into the courtyard in the evening. Frosty is out their smiling all lit up!
Just another reminder to have a look in your loved ones closet and try to make room
for the cooler weather; we will not be needing summer items any time soon! Be sure to
have any Christmas clothing gifts labelled through our laundry department.
It is not too late to get your flu shot.
Hope to see you at our Christmas open house gathering on Thursday, December 10th
from 6:00pm- 8:00pm.
From all of us at A.R. Goudie, we hope you enjoy the Holiday season with your family
and friends, and have a safe and prosperous New Year!

Snowflake Bazaar
A big thank you goes out to all the those who attended our annual peopleCare A.R.
Goudie Snowflake Bazaar on Saturday, November 21st , 2015. It was a huge
success that raised a $1055.00 profit that will go towards the residents recreation
activities and programs. A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers and team
members who made this a highly successful event; without your contributions, hard
work and support this event would not have been this successful!
Thank you to our Sponsors
On behalf of everyone at peopleCare A.R. Goudie we would like to say a huge thank
you to the following sponsors and donors for their contributions to our Annual
Snowflake Bazaar:

Zehrs Beechwood Floral Donation
peopleCare A.R. Goudie would like to send a huge thank you to the Zehrs
Beechwood location as they have been donationg a few dozen flower bouqets
every Thursday. The flowers have been a very beneficial donation as the
residents thoroughly enjoy putting together new flower arrangements, as a
program, for the dining room tables on each home area every Thursday. The
flower arrangements add a lot of brightness throughout the entirety of the
home, so thank you Zehrs Beechwood for your ongoing support and kindness!

Christmas Thoughts:
Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first.
The birth of the baby Jesus stands as the most significant event in all history, because it has meant the
pouring into a sick world the healing medicine of love which has transformed all manner of hearts for
almost two thousand years... Underneath all the bulging bundles is this beating Christmas heart."
-- George Matthew Adams (The Christmas Heart)
"Christmas Eve was a night of song that wrapped itself about you like a shawl. But it warmed more than
your body. It warmed your heart...filled it, too, with melody that would last forever."
-- Bess Streeter Aldrich (Song of Years)
"So remember while December Brings the only Christmas day, In the year let there be Christmas In the
things you do and say."
-- Anonymous
"Until one feels the spirit of Christmas, there is no Christmas. All else is outward display-so much tinsel
and decorations. For it isn't the holly, it isn't the snow. It isn't the tree not the firelight's glow. It's the
warmth that comes to the hearts of men when the Christmas spirit returns again." -- Anonymous
"The gloom of the world is but a shadow. Behind it, yet within our reach, is joy. There is radiance to see,
we have only to look. I beseech you to look"
Fra Giovanni, 1513
A merry Christmas to each of you! And a blessed New Year!
