going well in preparation for the show.
We have a great line up of judges ready for your
competition mounts. If anyone needs any info about the show, please feel free to contact
myself or any board member as we will be glad to help.
I hope you all make plans to attend - you do not want to miss this show. If you have not
already done so, please take the time to pre-register for the show. It helps us out a lot to make
plans and have things ready when you arrive at the show.
This show will wrap up my term as President and some very good people are stepping up to keep
things going in a good direction.
I want to thank each and everyone of you for the chance to
have served the NCTA.
I can not wait to see you all again soon. So shine those mounts and it is going to be another

The 2016 NCTA Board Member Nominees:
MOUNTAIN REGION:
My name is Amy Ritchie-Carter. I live in Statesville
with my husband, Robby and our children, Lily and
Levi. I currently do taxidermy part-time and specialize
in mammals. I look forward to the opportunity to serve
as a board member.
My name is Mitch Black and I live in Lansing, located in the beautiful
mountains of NC, with my wife and 5 children, who range from 1 to 19. I have
been doing taxidermy and making game calls for about 18 years, in the
beginning as a hobby but soon it turned into a business. I have always loved
the outdoors even as a kid, but being able to recreate animals to look alive and
in a habitat that makes it all look natural is my desire and my passion. I have
been a member of the NCTA for several years and I am also a member of the
Virginia and South Carolina Associations as well. I thoroughly enjoy
competing and learning from fellow Taxidermist as well as their fellowship. I
thank God that He has given me the talent and ability to do something to
support my family that I truly love doing. If elected I will do my very best to
help the NCTA be the best and fairest Association it can be for all levels of
competitor as well as its members. Thank you for your consideration and God
bless.
PIEDMONT REGION:
My name is Jake Rouse. My hometown is Kinston NC, but I moved
to Raleigh seven years ago. I am married with two wonderful
daughters, and am very fortunate that my wife and oldest daughter
both enjoy taxidermy and attend shows with me. I had been doing
taxidermy for a few years before learning about the NCTA, and have
been very active in shows ever since then. I am very thankful for all
the learning opportunities that the NCTA has allowed me over the
last few years, as well as many wonderful people who I now call
friends. I am honored to have been nominated for the Piedmont
Board for the NCTA and if chosen will continue to help the
association grow in a positive way.

COASTAL:
My name is Paul Miller from Hookerton NC. I have been
involved in taxidermy since 1989. I am currently the instructor of
taxidermy for Lenoir Community College in Kinston NC.
Through my involvement with students I have been able to
introduce many to the NCTA. It is my desire to see our
organization grow and a honor to serve on the board.
VICE PRESIDENT:
I am Steve Tugwell. I am the owner of Kittrell Hill Taxidermy in Farmville,
NC. I am married to my high school sweetheart Susan, we have two
beautiful twin girls Lacey and Macey. I joined the NCTA about 15 years ago
and it has changed the way I look and do taxidermy. I served on the NCTA
board for 2 years and then became Vice President. I would be honored to be
the President for the NCTA. As President I would continue to work hard for
our association and hopefully see our association continue to grow. Our
show has grown over the last 3 years and I would like to keep that
momentum going. My goal is to keep our association strong and for it to be
a teaching tool for everyone.
SECRETARY:
My name is April Rouse and I live in Raleigh with my husband
Jake and our two daughters. I have attended every show with
Jake since we first learned about the NCTA a few years ago. I am
a stay at home mom while homeschooling both our daughters,
finishing up my Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership,
as well as keeping up with the paperwork for our taxidermy shop.
I appreciate the nomination for secretary for the NCTA and am
willing to help the association any way I can if chosen.
TREASURER:
My name is Herman Parker. I appreciate being
nominated for Treasurer of the NCTA. If elected I will do
my best to support the wishes of the Board and members
of the NCTA and will carefully handle the financial affairs
as directed by the officers and board.
