Irving Schwartz Branch is now OPEN!
Have you been out to the newly renovated Irving
Schwartz Branch yet? You’re really missing out if
you haven’t. The completely refurbished branch has
a brand new teen space, children’s area, computer
lab, cool new artwork and more. Check it out
today. They also have a new phone number, (915) 212-0315.
Summer Youth Transportation Program
The Library will partner with Sun Metro and the United Way to
offer young people free transportation on Sun Metro buses over the
summer. Youth can use these free bus passes to ride to events at
the libraries, the zoo, museums, rec centers or any other event in the
City. For more information please contact the staff at any branch library.
Get Your Library Card!
To take full advantage of all the services EPPL offers, become a card
carrying member. It’s free and easy to get your library card. Simply visit
the branch nearest you, bring a valid, government issued photo ID and fill
out an application. In most cases, you’ll get your library card in a matter
of minutes. Library cards are good for two years and can be renewed after
that for two more years.

Besides these standard weekly programs, each branch has their own complete list of weekly programs and
events. They differ from branch to branch however you can participate in any program you like. These
programs include weekly movie screenings, knitting clubs, chess clubs, teen lock-ins, concerts, book sales
through the Friends of the Libraries, French and Spanish conversation classes and much, much more. For

Learning with LEGOs
EPPL Branches offer play time with LEGOs just about every week. Playing with building
materials such as LEGOs help young people develop and express their creative sensibilities. It
also allows them the opportunity to socially engage with other youths over a fun,
developmental activity. h week at the same time.
National Summer Learning Day
The goal of Summer Learning day is that all children and youth have access to high-quality
summer learning experiences to help them succeed in college, career, and life. To meet that end,
the library will deliver high-quality summer learning opportunities to El Paso’s children and
youth that help close the achievement gap and support healthy development. Special events
and programs will be held on or about July 14, 2016, National Summer Learning Day.

Borderland High School Equivalency Program
The Borderland High School Equivalency Program meets the
special needs of migrant and seasonal farm workers in pursuit of
the High School Equivalency Certificate. This program assists
qualified migrant students with test preparation, free class
materials and exams. BHEP provides assistance for placement in
universities, colleges, junior colleges, and vocational institutions,
military services, other post-secondary activities or career positions
and is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
To qualify you need to be at least 16, not enrolled in high school
and have worked in the agricultural area for 75 days in the last 2
years. Students can also qualify if their parents, grandparents or
other family members who live in their household have worked in
the agricultural area. For more information call 543-5468.
