Forever Crazy
The past week has seen five winners emerge from the ranks with three at Randwick on Saturday plus Sensualism saluting at
Warwick Farm on Wednesday and Georgey Aeroplane winning at Geelong yesterday. In total that takes the stable to 220.5 winners
to date in this past season with 190.5 of these in New South Wales and 154.5 of these at Sydney Metropolitan level.
This Saturday we are represented by four runners in the Listed Winter Stakes at Rosehill while a race that would be special to win
on the day is the Bob Ingham Handicap for obvious reasons while last week we fittingly took home the Shoot Out Handicap at
Randwick with I’m Imposing. As the leading producer of 2yo winners this season, we have four youngsters running tomorrow with
Double Happy and Harrier Jet at Rosehill, Dupe ‘Em having his first go up the straight six at Flemington and New Zealand import
Bascule debuting at Kembla. We look forward to these youngsters and the rest of the team stepping out in their white bridles
tomorrow and wish everyone the best of luck and a safe weekend.

FOREVER CRAZY
4YO M Encosta de Lago – Fiammarosa (Danehill)
Randwick, Spring Carnival on Sale, 1600m, 0.8L.
Tye Angland continued his great assocication with the
stable, steering home the stable’s three winners at
Randwick on Saturday. On Forever Crazy he popped her
out at the perfect time, allowing her to run home for her
fifth career win for the Ingham Family. Her next start is
likely to be on the 2nd of August.
SPECIFIC CHOICE
4YO G Lonhro – Lady of Choice (Redoute’s Choice)
Randwick, TAB Rewards (Bm80) - 2000m, 3L.
Having mastered the art of settling in his races and
therefore allowed to get out to a distance he was clearly
bred and suited to, Specific Choice lead home a stable
trifecta at Randwick on Saturday. Given plenty of
galloping room by Tye Angland in the straight, he
charged down the outside for a brilliant 3 length win.
Saigon Tea finished an unlucky second and Done Nothin’
Wrong was third.
With a lack of suitable races around for Specific Choice,
it’s likely he will go four weeks between runs.
I’M IMPOSING
2YO G Danehill Dancer – On Fair Stage (Sadler’s Wells)
Randwick, Shoot Out Handicap - 1600m, 1L.
Patiently ridden by Tye Angland, I’m Imposing came
through with his end of the deal in a well-hatched plan to
be kept fresh for this 1600m event at Randwick. With a
pending sale on the cards, the race was ear-marked as a
back up plan should the sale fall through and with that
eventuating, he rewarded his owners with the $48,750
winner’s cheque.
He now heads to a 1500m Listed race on the 2nd of
August.

SENSUALISM
4YO M Commands – Love’s Here (Dehere)
Warwick Farm, TAB Quaddie (Bm70) - 1400m, 0.5L.
Given a perfect ride by Jason Collett, Sensualism
recorded her first city win and a timely one at that for
her sire Commands who sadly died during the week at
Darley. Commands also raced in the cerise colours of the
Ingham Family and was a prolific sire of winners and
stakes winners who was somewhat underrated.
Sensualism will have two weeks between runs and now
heads to a similar race at Warwick Farm over a mile.
GEORGEY AEROPLANE
6YO G Yamanin Vital – Nancy Wake (Personal Escourt)
Geelong, GT Magazine (Bm70) - 2000m, 2.5L.
Coming back from injury, Georgey Aeroplane rewarded
his owners and the team at Limitless Lodge and CWR
for their patience and care with a win at Geelong
yesterday. Fit and ready to go third up, he sweept wide
around the bend and won with authority in the hands of
Craig Newitt. Hopefully now he can continue on his
winning way with Chris weighing up the options for him
HORSE OF THE WEEK
STAR WITNESS – SPARKLING NOW COLT
From the stakes placed winner of nine in Sparkling Now
(Bellotto), this exciting colt is from the first crop of
sprinting sensation Star Witness. Now standing at
Widden Stud, Star Witness won the Group 1 Blue
Diamond and the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes before
he performed admirably at Royal Ascot with a second
placing in the Group 1 King’s Stand and third in the
Golden Jubilee.
At the sale this colt’s depth of girth, good bone and fluent
movement caught Chris’s eye. He has just completed his
first stint of training at Rosehill and pleased the team with
his professional attitude and gave every indication that he
could be an early 2yo.
He is currently 60% sold and you can race him for $10,750 per 5% share.

HOW MANY TIMES DO CWR HORSES GALLOP EACH WEEK?
Charlie Duckworth talks us through the stable’s gallop theory…
This week I am going to speak briefly about something that differs greatly from stable to stable and that is routine gallops. Chris is
known for being particularly soft on his horses and it is a well-known fact that his strike rate of first time up winners is below the
strike rate of many of his main rivals. His strike rate however then becomes far better than most other trainers in the country when
it comes to fourth and even fifth up in a preparation.
This is due to the way he manages his horses and the fact that he only gallops twice a week instead of three time and our gallops
aren’t hard gallops at all. On the whole the horses wouldn’t come of the bridle at all at home and even in trials the vast majority will
remain hard held. From a veterinary perspective it is good to keep the horses on the bridle for the simple reason that most injuries
occur when a horse is fatigued or not being held together. So when it comes to race day, especially first up, they aren’t as fit and as
some horses prepared by other trainers. There are a few reasons why he does this and one is because he cares for the horses greatly
and his methods will increase longevity. This is great for a simple reason which is if you are lucky enough to train a top group one
horse - why would you only want to have him or her for a year when you could have the same horse running year in and year out?
They are hard enough to come by without them just being a flash in the pan.
Another bonus of only galloping only twice a week is that they can actually run more often because they are fresher horses as they
are given enough time to get over each race before have to gallop again.
Chris also doesn’t seem to put a big emphasis on the times horses run in their work. He would rather the horses come home in a
piece of work in a time that the horse is comfortable at instead of forcing them to do it in a time outside the horses capacity. This
again leads us back to having the horses in training for as long we can. So much so that in the first week of June when we had five
winners Rosehill, two of them were four year olds, two of them were five year olds and one was a seven year old.

VICTORIAN FIRST FOR CWR AT GEELONG
It might not quite rank with other milestones he has achieved this season, but
Chris Waller ticked off another first at Thursday’s Geelong Synthetic meeting.
Georgey Aeroplane provided the champion Sydney trainer with his first nonmetropolitan winner in Victoria when he won the $30,000 GT Magazine
Showcase BM70 Handicap (2000m).
Before today Waller, who is based at Rosehill and recently increased his
Flemington satellite stable to 25 boxes, had started seven runners in Victoria
during the 2013/14 season with a couple of second placings the best results.
Waller said the set-up of his Flemington operation – which until recently only
comprised 10 boxes – had not been conducive to country raids, but expected he
would have an increased presence moving forward.
“Up until the start of this month we’ve only had 10 stables there, so we’ve made sure they’ve been with city horses rather than
country and provincial horses,” he said.
“In Melbourne, because of the geographics, it’s accepted that city trainers do go to country areas and Georgey Aeroplane is a good
example. He’s out of form, so we took him back to an easier race and he duly won and got some confidence from it. It’s all part of
learning for me and I can see it can be a useful tool and I can see it be a positive in the future.”
Georgey Aeroplane, whose only two previous starts this campaign were on wet tracks at Sportingbet Park (Sandown), relished a
return to a firmer surface and burst away for a comfortable 2-1/4-length win under Craig Newitt.
He was Waller’s 25th winner for the season in Victoria, where he's won four Group 1 races: the Makybe Diva Stakes (Foreteller),
Coolmore Stud Stakes (Zoustar), Myer Classic (Red Tracer) and Emirates Stakes (Boban). Those victories made up half his elitelevel wins for the season, which secured him the Australian Group 1 Trainers’ Premiership.
One of those wins was the Doncaster Mile, in which he created history by preparing the first four horses over the line.
Waller has prepared 220.5 winners nationwide this season, which has him in second position on the Australian Trainers’
Premiership behind Victorian star Darren Weir, who took his tally to 241 when Luskin Belle won the $17,500 APCO Service

Distance rise to help Dupe 'em
The no-nonsense attitude of Dupe `Em has fuelled jockey Craig Newitt's
belief that the youngster can make a seamless transition to Saturday grade at
Flemington. The Chris Waller-trained Dupe `em impressed on debut at
Sandown when he finished strongly from back in the field to win over
900m. He steps up to 1200m in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Handicap and
Newitt sees no reason why he won't handle it.
"He's a really nice horse and is just one of those two-year-olds that
everything he does, he just pleases you. He hasn't done a thing wrong to
date and I can't see that changing on Saturday. I think he will be very hard to
beat." Newitt said.
Newitt's only query going into Dupe `Em's debut on July 2 was whether he would find the 900m too short. He managed to win but
Newitt expects the galloper to be in his comfort zone over the extra distance.
"Especially down the straight, the first half of the race will probably be run pretty leisurely and it will just give him a chance to
really travel underneath me. You saw how good his acceleration was the other day after being off the bit for so long, so I would
expect him to be very strong again late on Saturday."
Dupe `em, a $5 chance in early betting, is one of three horses Newitt is booked to ride for premier Sydney trainer Chris Waller
along with Fulgur and Amovatio. Fulgur, an acceptor in Melbourne and Sydney, is expected to run in the Ascot Racecourse

CWR Foreman David Murtagh hails from a small town
called Arva in Count Cavan, Ireland and became interested
in the game through his grand father who bred horses.
He has since ridden out for jumps trainers Arthur Moore in
Ireland and Nicky Henderson in England before working in
New Zealand, New York and then coming to Australia
where he’s worked for Mick Kent and Coolmore before
joining Chris Waller Racing.
