I promise to be true to myself. I promise to allow my conscious and inner spirit to
guide my Christian principles that honor and respect God, myself and my sisters
at all times. I promise to live, speak, and think positively. I promise to refrain
from negative talk and behavior that presents me and all women in an
unattractive manner. I promise to be a beacon of light, to create happiness, joy,
love and peace. Each day, I promise to live life in truth and to the fullest. I
promise to seek my purpose and give of myself unselfishly using my gifts and
talents. I promise to spend quality time with myself, improve myself, and
surround myself with like-minded and quality people. I promise to be open to
start new relationships built on honesty, loyalty, respect, and trust. I promise to
empower, pray, protect, support, and uplift, my sisters. I promise to bring unity to
my family and community. I promise to support my sisters at all times. I promise
to be an example for future generations and establish new opportunities. I
promise to appreciate the beauty of my culture and all living creatures. I promise
to strive to be better in every area of my life. I promise to lead with love, because
I am my sisters’ keeper.

Author’s Corner:
MEN AND INTIMACY, REAL TALK. REAL ANSWERS
--What men really feel about Love, Relationships, Women, Sex and MORE! -There are countless books on men and relationships that analyze and interpret men’s feelings
about intimacy from a clinical or therapeutic approach. However, there are very few books that
actually highlight men’s points of view on this topic in an uncut, complete, raw and emotional
way. Author, Therez Fleetwood, explores the complexities of relationships through the
minds of men who give real, no holds barred answers to the questions that women want to ask.
Shades of You: Hot Butterscotch to Crayola Brown
--An Inspirational Book of Poetry For Women of Color--
Conference attendees will be the first to obtain a copy of Nicole Brown-Horston’s new book, before
it’s released to the public that will August 16.
As one of the conference panelists, Nicole will openly discuss the many shades or aspects of life
that women go through. Shades that impact and effect who we are vs who we personify vs who we
are purposed to be. Once you have a full understanding and accept who you are, there is no limit
as to what you can do or who you will become. *Discounts available to conference attendees only.

The phrase, “Girls just Wanna have Fun!” is sometimes easier said than
done with everything that we have going on in our lives. However, for our
Mental Health and Wellness, taking some “Me Time” without the guilt can
improve other areas within our lives. More and more women are realizing
that they can have the best of both worlds: having fun and being frugal.
Here are some stress free ideas to get you started:
Pool your money together to hire a babysitter that will watch the kids (at the
location) while you spend time with your girlfriends. This way, you can still
keep a watchful eye/ear open on the kiddos while you’re enjoying your
much needed free time.
Grab your sleeping bag, your favorite movie, order in and let the fun begin.
Share a ”skill set”. Each person will take a turn sharing their special skill/
talent. (Ex. Teach the ladies how to make your favorite recipe, share a
health and beauty tip, share a cute DIY keepsake or put on a talent show.)
If you own a business, bring a small set-up to display throughout the
evening. Nothing too cumbersome. Use this safe space for you to practice
public speaking and receive positive feedback. You can also bring some
Cord Blood Awareness
The term "cord blood" is used to describe the blood that remains in the umbilical
cord and the placenta after the birth of a baby. Up until recently this afterbirth
was discarded as medical waste. Cord blood contains stem cells that may be
cryopreserved for later use in medical therapies, such as stem cell transplants or
clinical trials of new stem cell therapies.
The blood in the umbilical cord and placenta is rich in stem cells. These are
different from both the embryonic stem cells in a fertilized egg or the stem cells
obtained from the tissues of a child or an adult. The stem cells in cord blood can
grow into blood and immune system cells, as well as other types of cells.
The option of private storage to save your baby’s cord blood and public donation of your baby’s blood to a public bank is available in the United States. .

KidEntrepreneur:
A Vision of Love
Mariah Carey isn’t the only woman with “A Vision of Love”. This Kid Entrepreneur, had a
different kind of vision and she’s seeing 20/20. Visions of Love LLC, is a company that
specializes in fun, sleek, fashionable, designer eyewear for children and adults.
The creator of the company is Lil’ Miss Samiyah “Love” Womack, an eight year old runway
model/actor/voice over talent/designer, and now business owner. Samiyah is a native St.
Louisan and began her modeling career at the age of two years old when she landed a
nation-wide print ad from a local agency. Samiyah continued to develop her modeling and
acting skills and has walked in many fashion shows for designers nationwide. At the age of five
Samiyah landed a role in a movie produced by Michael Larnell and Spike Lee, the movie has
been featured at the Sundance Film Festival and in multiple film festivals overseas. Samiyah
has starred in nationwide and local commercials for the NFL and St. Louis Children’s Hospital to
name a few. She is also BWN MO/IL's poster child for Kid Entrepreneurship.
