Accommodation facilities
for international students:
International students are offered on-campus accommodation. Recently renovated residence halls offer fullyequipped 2-share or 3-share ensuite study-bedrooms. The
rooms are self-contained having a kitchen and a bathroom.
Single study-bedrooms are not available. The University International Department may assist in finding suitable host
families for homestay.
Maintenance costs per academic year:
Accommodation: living on campus in the University residence halls cost appr. $10-25 US per month (if you are a
student); renting on-campus accommodation for teaching/
research staff is more expensive. Off-campus accommodation rental prices may vary from $240 to 560 US, depending on the level of comfort (the city centre not included).
Living costs per month are about $240 US.

Preparatory Russian language course
for international students:
Courses of Russian as a foreign language can be taken at
• The Centre for International Education, which also
functions as the examination centre for Russian as a
foreign language. Successful exam-takers are awarded
a Russian Language Proficiency Certificate that is
mandatory to start any degree programme in Russia;
• School of Philology and Language Communication, the
Chair for Russian as a foreign language.
Non-degree programmes:

school included)
• Study abroad options (English-taught international
semester programmes at Master's level earning 30
ECTS credits)
Tuition fees:
Russian as a foreign language at the Centre for International
Education costs about $1,200 US per year (2 semesters,
from September till December and from February till June);
Tuition fee for a Bachelor's degree course (1 semester)
can vary depending on the major subject from $480 US
(humanities courses) to $900 US (engineering, economics
