Features
REID’s PORTA-DAVIT range represents a lightweight
revolution in lifting solutions, enabling just one person to
locate, assemble and use the jib crane safely. Our bagged
solution makes it simple for engineers to carry the PORTADAVIT to each job and store centrally or in service vehicles.
This means that just one PORTA-DAVIT can replace many
traditional fixed systems, generating savings in capital
and maintenance as well as operational benefits including
health and safety considerations.
Typical options include chainblock or winched lifting, with a
winch fitting mounted on a rigid aluminium alloy backstay
section and winch-head. Personnel lifting rated options and
fall arrest and recovery systems are available to WLL 120kg.
An overload protection chain hoist system is
recommended to provide additional protection for
the user.

Below are some typical system configurations for
PORTA-DAVIT 500. However, the product is entirely
customisable to meet your specific needs.
PORTA-DAVIT 500 (PDSSF0500-1200)
• Rated to WLL 500kg
• Operating radius: 800-1200mm under load
PORTA-DAVIT 500W (PDWSF0500-1200)
configured ready for a range of winch options,
including personnel lifting
• Davit weight: 24kg
• Rated to WLL 500kg for goods and 120kg for
personnel lifting
• Conveniently contained in 1.4m carry bag
• Operating radius: 800-1200mm
• Height from base to lifting eye: 1968mm
• Rigid aluminium backstay
• Sheaved davit head with dual shackle points
PORTA-DAVIT 500+OP (PDSSF0500-1200)
• Conveniently contained in two carry bags
(1.65m and 1.3m), each weighing less than
25kg for manual handling requirements
• Height from base to winch wire: 1930mm
• With overload protection chain hoist
The PORTA-DAVIT 500W can be operated as either a
standard davit with chain-block lifting, or with a winch
option mounted with a simple winch connection bracket.

The PORTA-DAVIT 360EXW can be operated as either
a standard davit with chain-block lifting, or with a winch
N.B. The PORTA-DAVIT operating radius range quoted
is given ‘under load’. If full radius is required under light
loads then the solid backstay option should be considered.

Options
Chain Block
Manual 360° chain block (CB), rated WLL,
complete with 3m of load chain and 2.5m
hand chain. The chain block is uniquely
designed for operation of the block at any
angle to the load, allowing for safe operation
from the side of the load, rather than the
traditional system which requires the chain
to be pulled from directly underneath the
chain block. The unit has minimum hook to
hook dimension of 335mm and weighs 13kg in total. A
load chain container, additional load chain and additional
hand chain can be supplied if required. Now available with
Overload Protection as an option.
A very wide range of lifting devices are available for
integration into the lifting solution, such as: Manual chain
blocks and winches; electrical and air hoist alternatives.

Personnel Lifting
PORTA-DAVIT 120MR lightweight, portable, aluminium
alloy davit; adapted with WLL 120kg for personnel lifting
application. Available in several configurations with a wide
range of optional equipment.
Two typical options are detailed below, available for use with
either standard REID sockets or the PORTA-BASE for truly
flexible application:
Option 1: Personnel lifting winch (to be used in conjunction
with fall arrest)
PORTA-DAVIT 120MRW two-piece, aluminium alloy davit.
• WLL 120kg for personnel lifting (man ride) application
• A
ll elements (davit, winch and optional fall arrest and
retrieval unit) conveniently contained in 2 x 1.4m carry
bags, each weighing less than 24kg
• P
ersonnel lifting winch is rated for continuous use in the
raising and lowering of the worker
• C
entrifugal locking mechanism will activate within 50mm
when a force is generated, minimising fall distance
• Recover winch capability with the FA20R
Should the worker get into difficulty, the retrieval winching
mechanism can be easily engaged enabling the worker to
be raised or lowered to safety. The retrieval winch is located
in an ergonomic position for the operator, mounted on the
davit backstay.
Additional FA20 (or FA20R) back-up, retractable, fall arrest
lifeline (recommended).

elf-reeling, giving complete freedom of movement (up to
20m), allowing the worker to work hands-free
• C
entrifugal locking mechanism will activate within 50mm
when a force is generated, minimising fall distance
• S
upplied with load-indicating captive karabiner on the rope
(which indicates if an arrest has been made)
Option 2: Fall arrest and retrieval winch (for emergency
retrieval of personnel)
• F all arrest unit connects to one of the two PORTA-DAVIT
shackles by a karabiner and the line karabiner to a
safety harness
