It's all "growing" on I Ffrwyth eu L1afur
-= ::.rII<:.
The school garden continues to flourish, with the project growing by the day. Students
are now beginning to see the rewards of the hard work that they put in over the winter /
spring months.
The summer harvest has now begun with lettuce, green beans, cabbage, potatoes and
strawbenies.
In this experimental year the produce has been sold within the school - however,
"fingers crossed" we expect next years yield to be stronger. (The school Enterprise
groups are exited at the prospect of selling the produce . They are also keen to donate
produce to social Enterprises in the locality).
The Matthew Mcdonald "giant" pumpkin is now making a concerted effort to grow and
the Courgettes, garlic, onions and peas are also looking scrumptious.
_~,.;:"lI_
Last Friday the students built some compost bins - recycling old wooden pallets. By
composting the garden waste we hope to improve the quality of our soil- whilst help
ing the environment.
The project is very exiting for the YSTJ students and staff. However, due to financial/
time restrictions we are always in need of support. If you would like to help - we would
be very grateful. (Help can be as little as an old plant pot, etc)
