Tomorrow is Picture Day. If you have not
already returned your order form, please

their regular school uniform even if they
have gym class. In the Spring we will have
another Picture Day where students may
wear dress-up clothes, but for tomorrow – when
class pictures will also be taken - students should

wear their uniforms for the benefit of the look of
the class pictures. All students will have their pictures taken whether or not they have submitted an
order form. If you are paying by cash, exact change
is required! The photographers cannot make change.
You may also order on-line at mylifetouch.com. Our

Registration for your
Scholar’s Sibling for Next
Year is Now Open
Reminder: If your BelovED scholar has a brother or
sister residing in the same household who will turn 5
on or before October 1, 2015, then be sure to apply.
Applications are available in the office and also on line
(preferred) through our website at
belovedccs.org. All siblings will be admitted, however
they MUST apply and submit a birth certificate and
proof of address on or before November 14, 2014 to
be guaranteed the preference.
Only New students need apply. Current
students do not have to re-apply. In January we will
send out Re-registration forms for enrolled students.
This notice only applies to NEW students who are
younger siblings of enrolled students.
Pick-Ups
Please remember to call at least one hour ahead if
your child, who normally rides the bus, is going to
be picked up. We cannot accommodate this request
closer to dismissal time for obvious reasons previously stated. This issue comes up more often on ½
days, but at any time be sure to call ahead so
that your child is placed on the correct dismissal line.

Drop-Offs and Pick-Ups
Staff Characters
The JC Police Department has been fielding many
complaints about traffic on Colden Street (back of
the school) and Pryor Street (west of the school)
during drop off and pick up, particularly double parking and obstructing traffic. We know this is a problem and is part of life for urban schools. However,
they have warned us that they may be more vigilant
in enforcing traffic laws, so be aware. Also, Colden
Street will soon be changed to a one-way street
heading West. This will ease traffic during the start
and end of school. You may enter Colden Street west
of the school, but no longer via Pryor Street. Signs
will soon be posted. Finally, the police have started
enforcing parking laws on our grounds so no one may
double park in any of the lots nor park in the handicapped parking spots unless handi-capped.
Staff came dressed as favorite “characters” last Friday
in support of our Book Fair. Do you recognize them?

BelovED receives Grant for
Tumbling Equipment!
The mini grant proposal, drafted by Mr Taylor, entitled “Elementary School Tumbling Program” has
been selected for a 2014–2015 NJAHPERD mini
grant award to BelovED! Let’s all give a big thank you
to Mr. Taylor for his efforts in securing this grant for
our scholars.
Bowling For Kids
On Sunday October 26th, BelovED staff members participated in the 2014 Bowling For Kids
Sake Fundraiser, the biggest fundraiser for the Big
Brothers/Big Sisters program of Hudson and Union
Counties. The BelovED Owls team consisted of Ms.
Jomayra Torres, Ms. Kristin Thompson, Ms. Michele
Link, Ms. Jessika Olivares and Mr. Ozzy Ramirez.
The team hopes to raise $500 to help support the
program that helps so many of our scholars here at

A note from our
Resident Artist,
Ms. “D”
This month our scholars are
studying the work of Frank Stella.
He is an American painter and
printmaker who lives in New
York City. In the 1950s he was
renowned for his work as a minimalist. Today his work remains
abstract, but is better described
as maximalism. Our 2nd, 3rd, and
4th graders have completed a
collaborative installation project
based on one of his sculpted walls.
