Mr. Beyer “I play the
guitar and a
little bit of
the piano. I
started
playing in
1980. I got into playing the
guitar when a friend in high
school showed me some
guitar chords and a couple
of ‘licks’ (scales). I liked it
and started teaching myself.
My mother had a piano in
the house and I would just
play things and figure out
what sounded good! When
playing an instrument, it’s
like making a piece of
musical treasure that no one
can ever take from you, and
totally belongs to you. I
especially enjoy it when
others enjoy the music,
although I wish that I had
taken piano lessons when I
was young so I could be good
and not just fake it!”
By: Olivia Truelove
Sarah White–11th grade
“I play the clarinet. I started
playing when I was in the 6th
grade, so ever since I was 11.
I started playing because I
was in band class. I originally
wanted to play the flute, but I
picked the clarinet instead
because I thought it fit me
best. When I play the clarinet
I feel like I can feel what the
music is trying to say to me. I
feel like it flows through me
and I feel happy!”

45 million Turkeys are sold on Thanksgiving.
Pedro: What did the turkey say to
the turkey hunter?
George: What?
Pedro: “Quack! Quack!”
Q: Why did the turkey play the
drums in his band?
A: Because he already had drum
sticks!
The first Thanksgiving celebration lasted three days.

“Rosie Cavazos for always striving to encourage the teachers and students to be the best they can be.” Anonymous “Mrs. Bell—she goes above and beyond to make sure our students are safe and successful. She’s never on idle, and will give up her me to help others. Thanks!” Kindergarten Ever notice someone at school doing something
extra helpful or friendly that you would like to
recognize? If so, please submit your notices of
thanks to Mrs. Underwood.
“Phillip Hooper for always opening doors as people enter and exit the
school. He is always there to lend a helping hand. Thank you!”

“I would like to recognize Marshall in my classroom. He supports the kids when they are down. When they make mistakes, he is always there to pat them on the back and say that it is okay.” Mrs. Turner “My hometown hero is Danna Dawson and her family. They help the sweet elderly lady across the street clean her house and her yard. They have been a blessing to our community.” Anonymous

The Varsity Girls finished 2nd as a TEAM and qualified for
Regionals. Sarita Cavazos, who placed 3rd overall, and Amber Acker,
who placed 9th overall, also qualified individually. Rounding out the
placing for the Cowgirls were Sarah White at 18th, Heather Gillen at
23rd, and Mykayla Garza at 30th.
We didn't have enough students to make a team for the
Varsity Boys, but we had three young men who competed
individually. Placing for the Cowboys were Joseph Stanley at 25th,
Chris Chatman at 30th, and Chase Watt at 31st.
Our Junior High Boys placed 4th overall and the scores were
as follows: Carter Garcia- 21st, Hilario Ramon- 25th, Lupe
Cordova- 26th, Colton Gonzales- 28th, Elijah Reyna- 33rd.
Our Junior High Girls only had four girls running, but
competed well. Blaye Lee defended her crown once again and ran a
blistering 13:14 time for the two mile course. She has a very bright
future ahead of her. Lily Arredondo ran her best time of the year and
placed 6th, followed by Kate Truelove at 13th and Hallie Taylor at
16th. Cora Lopez was injured and not able to run, but she competed all
year for us as well. -Coach Taylor

While attending the National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Tilden FFA
members worked a one hour shift in the National FFA Rally to Fight Hunger community service project.
Over 1,005,000 meals for hungry people were packaged during 20 shifts, with over 10,000 FFA
members working to fill, seal, and pack ready-to-cook meals. These meals will be distributed to hungry people
in Indianapolis and Haiti. Tilden members packed meals for 324 people during their shift.
