The MEETING OF STYLES event series was created by Manuel Gerullis
from Wiesbaden in 2002. After the Schlachtfof – a huge old fabric and
the biggest Hall of Fame in Europe was closed down - and not available
for events Gerullis transformed the yearly meeting of urban artists from
all over Europe to an travelling event and the MEETING OF STYLES
was born. Since 2002 more than 120 editions all over the world were
held in Europe, Russia, United States, Latin- and South America; joined
by over 120.000 visitors and artists. In St. Petersburg the MEETING OF
STYLES was held 3 times already. Over a period of 3-7 days artist meet
to design big walls and facade’s in public space and to exchange. MOS

ɝɨɞɚȽɟɪɦɚɧɢɢɜɊɨɫɫɢɢ
On August 10-18 Saint Petersburg will host for the second time graFFFest - graffiti, street and public art forum. The project main theme is
- synthesis of street and digital art being one of the most actual trends
in contemporary street art development. Progressive and dynamically
made graffiti and street art interfere with other genres, absorbing their
artistic methods in return as well. It’s within this tendency, that the main
focus of art forum will be put on influence of graffiti and other kinds of
modern art: animation, movies, photos, digital and internet art.

2012 news:

Saint-Petersburg and it’s visitors on a giant screen of Palace Bridge within Street Art Jam.
graFFFest 2012 Art Forum 2012 competitions:
1.
Auteur graffiti photo on www.grafffest.ru
Since July 15 on graFFFest 2012 site (www.grafffest.ru) starts a contest of auteur graffiti-photos.
Send photos of existing graffiti (not sketches!). These photos will be placed at special site of the
festival. The best graffiti photos will be shown on 17-18 August overnight on the erected wing of
drawn Palace Bridge. Anyone interested can send his work to this contest. The mandatory condition is to state the name and creative alias of the graffiti author (not of the one who pictured it). It
will be the graffiti author to get nominated for the art forum prize.
2.
“Urban Legends” themed contest for best animation
The modern city jungles inhabitants culture is full of spontaneous collective creative work, just as
was the culture of primal forests and cages. The folklore role is now served by internet mems, the
net projects became modern myths, while computer games and flash mobs are playing the role of
the rituals and graffiti is our cave rock painting art. The legends and myths of modern city civilization is the contest films theme.
3. Best animation or feature internet film “Cats in the City” competition
Only movies that are hosted on Youtube or Vimeo and that took no less than 100 000 views participate. The contest is
devoted to the image of a cat, as a totemic animal of a modern city man – and a muse of street art
and internet art. The omnipresence and independence – that’s what Anonymous, the main inhabitant of the Net values most. The amazing gift of infiltrating somewhere with “no access” sign,
and doing what you want – that’s what a street artist likes in the cat. And to the megapolis resident
to stroke a cat is about the only chance to get in touch with living nature. A cat is a trickster – converts the vanity of the city streets into the internet traffic, bringing up CATartic laughter from urban
residents, sick of civilization. A Kitteh – ubique and omnipotent, is the hero of our contest.
The contest curator is the notorious art-CRISPticist Zaratustra the Cat (www.fatcatart.ru), recently
hitting 4 000 000 views with his online exhibition http://imgur.com/a/K4wsg
