Presidents Message
Our 8th annual show and sale is now behind us…We had a nice turnout even with the wild
weather and a lot of beautiful blooming plants for the community to enjoy. In all it was a fun
show, with a lot of positive comments from our attendees. There were also a lot of lessons learned
that we can take forward to our next show to make it even better. Let us always remember that
our show is an opportunity for our society
to show off it’s growing skills as we bring
beauty to our community and value as we
help educate on the ease of cultivating
outdoor growing orchids. At times it may
seem like a lot of hard work with little
return, still we need to keep focused on
why we are a society; That is to
Introduce, Educate, and Inspire a love for
orchids… Thank you to everyone who
helped make this year's show a success.

This Months Meeting
Our Guest Speaker this month will be Schelly Numrych, she will
share with us "How to keep your enthusiasm and interest about
your hobby."
She will also be giving a presentation on “how to build a frost
house” and give tips on “dividing monster plants”.
About the Speaker.
Schelly has been growing Cymbidiums for over 20 years both in
Oakland and the Sacramento Valley. She has been a past President
of the Sacramento Valley Cymbidium Society and Publicity
Chairperson. She is also the Sacramento Area Liaison for the
Sacramento Branch of the Cymbidium Society of America (CSA).
Schelly has won numerous awards both at Sacramento Orchid
Society Show and our own Spring Show. Some of her awards
include "Best 'Orange' (bloom)", "Best First Bloom from a
seeding" and 1st and 2nd Place winner at our 2015
Spring Show.

The guest speaker for April will be Jonathon Robbins.
As an orchid grower and enthusiast Jonathon faced some
of the same frustrations as many of us in finding a reliable
source of supply for our orchid hobby. From the research
to solve his own problem he found many others with the
same frustration, so now Jonathon is the owner of Calwest
Tropical Supply, a family business, specializing in the
world's finest specialty gardening supplies. His aim is to
take the orchid, tropical and other specialty gardening to a
new level by providing the best products available on the
planet.
