LA PINE BUSINESS CENTER – Owner: Robin Mirrasoul
“My husband (Marc) and I bought the original bookstore from Lisa 7 years ago this month. Our original idea was to
start a business center here in La Pine with full service copy & print and packing & shipping, but we were having trouble
at that time finding a building to purchase. When we found out Lisa was ready to sell we ended up purchasing the
business and the building together – hence the name – Books, Boxes & B. S. for the business services that we planned
to grow into. As the business services have continued to grow and flourish we felt it was time to re-brand to our original
plan and name -- La Pine Business Center.”
We moved to La Pine in 1984 for Marc’s job (driving chip truck) and we just fell in love with this community. The
wonderful small town atmosphere, that provides opportunities to be involved and make a difference in your community,
the great outdoor recreation. How could anyone not love La Pine?
We see continued growth every year in our Business Center, we continue to add services and products to help small
business owners grow their business and help individuals do office type projects. I have a passion for small business
and work periodically for the college teaching small business classes and have worked as a business advisor for the
Small Business Development Center. Helping people market their businesses is so much fun; from signage, banners,
brochures, business cards, etc.
Right now the biggest challenge we are all facing is the lack luster economy. It’s still pretty darn slow for most people
in Central Oregon.
The biggest highlight of my business career was when we sold our first business here in La Pine (Cascade First Aid &
Safety) to a Fortune 500 Company that came looking for us. That was pretty darned amazing. We always laughed that
we were one of La Pine’s best kept business secrets. Now, in this business, we want everyone to know we are here to help!
We love the water – it’s one of the things that attracted us to La Pine – Water skiing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, scuba
diving and we love to travel!
I spent 8 years as an active EMT volunteer with La Pine Ambulance & La Pine Fire, Ford Leadership Cohort #1 (the light project) and am currently finishing out 5 years on the Chamber
Board, as well as being very active in our church and other community events.
We plan on continuing to grow the business, adding more and more resources for the business community to tap into locally without having to go outside of La Pine. We want to keep those
La Pine dollars working here in our local economy.
La Pine desperately needs family wage jobs, we have seen such major business growth in all of the Central Oregon communities, it’s just a shame La Pine didn’t get in on that during the boom,
but now as a city that has gotten their feet under them – we are poised to make some great strides as the economy improves. Development and recruiting for our business park and industrial
park are essential.
